So I feel like at least to some extent red rangers get a lil bit of extra babying by their teammates particularly after a hard fight (Lily an Casey for example). Do you think this is out of worry? Or if they can just tell their reds are absolute halls of stress? Or maybe some of the rangers just naturally gravitate towards a more nurturing/parenting/protective personality?

Anywho if you do agree any specific ideas on how certain red rangers would be babied by their teammates? Or if they would/wouldn’t (cause I feel like it can vary slightly by team dynamics).

Oh, absolutely! Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you on this. Honestly, I haven't been in Tumblr as much for writing recently.

Anyway, yes, I've always been of the opinion that Reds especially get the babying treatment. The leaders just have so much on their shoulders constantly, and they can break so easily if they're not taken care of properly. I've always thought Pinks ans Yellows gravitate towards more nurturing roles, maybe Blues and Greens. Always Sixth Rangers, since they take no shit from their Reds ever.

I think some of the Reds (Carter, Andros, Nick) only accept the babying from specific people. You're right that it changes by dynamic within teams.

"Carter," Ryan orders, crossing his arms. "It's time to sleep."

Carter jumps like he's been shot, whipping around. He and Ryan sit there staring at each other for a minute. Then Carter shuffles, embarrassed, and slowly sets down the file in his hands. "I... I, uh- can't sleep..." he admits after a minute.

Ryan thinks about that. "Want some help?" he asks.

Carter perks up a little. "Could you?" he murmurs. "Please? I'm so tired."

The demon-raised nods, then gestures for Carter to follow. He doesn't have to look to know Carter will follow, and so he doesn't look back once. He does, however, smirk when he hears Carter scramble to follow. By the time Ryan gets back to his room and prepares his tools, Carter has caught up and is watching him curiously. "Sit on the bed, Carter," Ryan says.

Carter is clearly confused, but he does as he's told.

Ryan brings out the golden watch with a hum. "Now, this won't hurt you, but your dreams might be weird." He turns and let's the watch fall. He swings it. "Watch the watch, okay?"

Carter blinks, disbelieving, but again, he does as asked.

So, Ryan let's the watch swing for a bit, then slowly he speaks. "You're getting sleepy. It's very late at night. Too late to be awake anymore. You're very sleepy." He repeats the phrases a few times, just to get the point across. Then, he starts the real intructions as Carter’s eyes start to droop. "It's too late to stay up any more. You're going to sleep now, and you'll sleep until you're not tired anymore. Your sleep is important, Carter, and you need to get it. So, now-" he snaps his fingers under Carter’s nose- "sleep."

And just like he's predicted, Carter’s head dips, eyes falling shut, and he's fully out and down for the count. Ryan smirks again, gently catching Carter’s limp body as it falls as if its strings were cut. Luckily, Carter’s wearing acceptable sleep clothing.

Ryan murmurs, "Sleep until you're not tired anymore. The only reasons you need to wake up is bathroom or Rangering. You'll fall back asleep easily once you're back in bed."

Carter makes a soft noise as he settles in Ryan's arms. Ryan smiles as he gently lays the Red down in the bed and tucks him in. Ryan quickly changes into his sleep pants and settles in behind Carter. He wraps the fireman up protectively and hums.

"Good night, Carter."

head canon: spd is the last space patrol and it feel apart around 5 ranger generations after the show ended and in this would cause more organizational police stir rangers to be taboo and not really made until time force

unless they specifically asked, you don’t get to tell a fanfic writer you think they mischaracterized the character by the way. because the second someone writes a fanfic about a character, that character becomes the writer’s own version of the character. canon is only a suggestion, but whether or not an author will follow it / how much of canon an author will take is entirely up to them. you don’t get to stick your nose in their world and tell them “hey this is not to my liking therefore I think you’re doing it wrong” when you can simply leave quietly and move on to something else you may enjoy

Cactus - Passionate Love

Carter throws himself into everything, Ryan knows that. Carter is an all-or-nothing kind of man. Ryan just didn't realize how much.

"Wow, you're really going for it, huh?" Ryan asks, leaning against the wall. Carter nods. "Well, be careful," the Titanium Rangers cautions. "Don't want you to hurt yourself."

Carter nods again, clapping his hands together and looking up. Ten minutes and a lot of effort later, he's sitting victoriously on top of the rock wall that he hasn't been able to best since he was put on Deactive Ranger status. He grins down at Ryan with brilliance and passion.

Ryan smirks back up at him. "Congratulations," he says.

Carter grabs the rope he's still connected to and whoops as he pushes off the wall and falls back down to the ground again.

Fern - Sincerity/Ursinia - Trickery

Carter looks up at Ryan with confusion. "Ryan?" he murmurs.

Ryan grins wickedly. "Don't you know a trick when you see one, pretty boy?" The demon assigned to watch Ryan curls a hand over his shoulder. It's so easy to fall back into that old persona. So simple to return to the lies and tricks, that it almost makes Ryan's head spin. He looks at Carter with eyes both soft and vicious and prays that Carter understands.

"Ryan, you don't have to do this," Carter pleads. There's a look of understanding in his eyes. This is a trick, the look says, a magic trick.

Ryan smiles again, this time more sincere. "Come with me, Carter," he says, offering his hand. "We'll do this together."

Carter doesn't hesitate, eyes full of flint and stone. He takes Ryan's hand, and Ryan grins again.

Kalanchoe - Persistence and Eternal Love

The worst part about it isn't the refusals. The worst part is that Carter knows why.

"Why would you tie your life to mine?" Ryan asks again and again. "I'm dangerous and will hurt you? Everything I touch has claw marks in it when I let go!"

"Why can't you understand," Carter returns, holding on to Ryan's wrist with steely eyes and a calm tone, "that I accept the risk of pain. I accept that you will hurt me. I accept the claw marks, because I love you."

Ryan snarls. "Love is for children."

"Love is for you," Carter retorts, stepping closer. "And mine is yours to have if you will only reach out and take it."

Ryan's eyes go wide, then tear-filled. "I don't want to hurt you," he whispers.

Carter smiles. "I know," he murmurs back. "But you're already hurting me by staying away."

Ryan reaches forward, grabs Carter by the collar, and drags him into a kiss.

Magnolia - Dignity

"I'll let you choose who dies," laughs the demon. "And please try to die with dignity."

Ryan doesn't let the demon get a step out of the room before he bolts forward and reaches out. His hands hit solid flesh, and Ryan shoves for all he's worth. The demon screams as it falls of the edge of the ground and into its own trap.

Carter gasps as the demon is torn to shreds, but Ryan has no regrets. He stands at the edge and watches the hellhounds rip the demon to pieces. "Try to die with dignity," he deadpans back, then turns away and checks on Carter. "You okay, baby?"

Peony - Anger

"Ryan, 'm fine!" Carter mumbles, laying exhausted and drugged to the gills in the hospital bed.

"You're not," Ryan refutes. "But it's okay. I'll stay here until you are."

"Y'r not mad?" Carter asks sluggishly.

Ryan leans over and kisses Carter's forehead. "Furious. But not with you."

Yellow Bell - Rebirth

Being in love with Carter is like finally being able to breathe after so long in toxicity. Being in love with Carter is like being able to lift the strongest rocks and not feel the repercussions afterward. It's waking up and knowing that day will be the best you've ever had. Carter is the sunshine to Ryan's moonlight, and Ryan has never been happy.

rangers have purple blood due to the grid energy in their system being a weird bluish-greenish-bluish-greenish blue color, and mixing that with blood red is a fucking weird shade of purple. Zords have rainbow blood. why? Because I can.

zords eat metal, that is only if they were created directly from the grid, however, if they were created without grid interference, the zord is born as a baby, and is able to eat human food, but only survive off exclusively a mixture of grid energy and water (that suspiciously resembles pink lemonade. also this is all canon to my fic bc why not?)
