no these aren't redesigns: they're for a very brief Puella Magi Madoka Magica AU i had in my head:

So basically, Drake and Jim are Magical Boys who fight Witches for eternity until they die. But to do so, they had to make Wishes: Drake wants to inspire people, and Jim wants to be remembered by the new generation. Afterwards, they get Soul Gems that are located on the bands of their fedoras: Drake's resembles a violent crescent, and Jim's is a blood-red skull. If these Soul Gems shatter, they die (if the items are left behind, they collapse). But if the items become fully corrupted/black, they turn into Witches. Drake's form resembles Darkwarrior Duck, while Jim's is similar to Negaduck's inky appearance but with burned film reels rather than ink. In regard to main weapons: Drake dual-wields two Gas Guns, and Jim uses a chainsaw. Also, the former's cape looks like an upside down crescent and he wears a necktie (based on concept art), while Jim wears a torn coat.

Jim, a veteran Magical Boy who was DWD in both real-life and screen, is on the verge of becoming a Witch after Drake made his debut as the new DWD. He became a Magical Boy after Jim's "death," which grinds said veteran's gears upon meeting Drake again. And psychological thriller begins from there in which I do not feel like explaining.

The Witches of St Canard are claimed to be the strongest and toughest of all known territories, with Duckburg being placed in second.
