More than once, Rumble heard the rumors of the Shadow Isles. The land, once a beautiful realm, now covered by mist and death. Never in his life he would’ve imagine to have the chance to meet one of its denizens.
After an unsettling silence, it was clear that the spirit wouldn’t speak.
“… So? What are you waiting for?” leave it to him to be rude even with the dead in front of him.
@recalibraticn approaches the Spear of Vengeance.
They stare, silent, spirits hanging motionless in the cold air all around them, all hollow eyes fixed on the peculiar thing before them. Two legs, seemingly made of metal, and in it —— one of those small creatures with fur.  Those who talked, an awful lot in most cases.     Never have they seen anything like it.   What is it ?  What is it ?   The Spear wants to know, yet, the query that might bring them the answer they seek does not leave their tongue.  Too proud, they simply glare at the creature, dead gold gaze drilling into it’s very soul. And so they wait, with the dead patience of one who has an eternity, for the creature to simply explain itself.

To say she was lost was a bit of an understatement, but it wasn’t stopping her now. She’d wandered into the mechanic’s shop in the hopes of getting directions, but the sight of the yordle and his mech had silenced the girl, and she approached cautiously, wary of his apparent frustration. “Excuse me, is everything alright? I don’t mean to intrude, but… I guess I kind of have,” she sheepishly grins, running a hand through her dark hair.
“Yes.” he answered without thinking. “No- Nevermind, it’s nothing.” with a sigh and already making plans to work on the machine later, the yordle turned to face whoever was talking.
“So. What do you want?”

Did he just say… Yordle? What in the name of hell’s angels were yordles? He was so.. small. Was it normal? He rose an eyebrow at the suppose yordle in front of him.
Tumblr media
❛ I think you’re going to have to explain.   ❜ Or not. This was wasting practice time! Eh, the others could yell at him all they wanted, not like he was gonna care to be completely honest. ❛ I’m a BAT and I’ve never heard of this species. ❜
It was now Rumble’s turn to raise an eyebrow in confusion. A… bat? Last time he checked, bats were small animals with fur and wings, not human-looking creatures.
“Uh…“ he paused for a moment, trying to think how to explain what yordles are, before speaking again. “Well, small,” usually not as small as him, but there was no need to say that. “Fur, big ears,” with the last two words, he gestured towards his own ears. “Most of us live in Bandle city, but there are a few of us who moved to other places- you sure you’ve never seen one before?”

“I was wondering if you could build me something.” Laural asked. “I really like bird watching and my old binoculars are cracked. Is there something you could make me to help me out? I’ll pay you of course.”
Rumble pondered over the request for a moment. It wasn’t what the yordle usually worked with, but he was confident in his own skills. He did put together a mech with scrap metal, after all, how difficult could building binoculars be?
“I don’t think it will be a problem. Show me that thing.” he was pretty sure it would be easy, but studying the original object sure would help.

Laural took this opportunity to get as long winded and technical as he could. He constantly avoided mentioning a price as he went into detail about every repair that he would have to make and then described the technique he would use to fix it in as boring detail as he could muster. He kept his eye on Rumble to see if his plan was working.
For awhile, Rumble managed to pay attention, but he soon grew bored with the conversation. Mindlessly playing with the now empty glass, he was already thinking on his future projects, trying to make a list of what he could do already. When he thought the other yordle was done talking, Rumble left the glass on the table.
“Uh… And just how much will this cost?”

“What are you trying to do?“ he just observed the other yordle as he did… actually, Rumble wasn’t sure of what he was doing.

tynen-nalo
Tynen looked around for where the voice came from, finally resorting to looking downward. The small yordle was staring intensely at his arm, even though he could have looked down at his left leg, which is equally as impressive.
“It’s a mechanically augmented arm, shorty. ” He said, a tone of humor lightly sprinkled in. He knelt down so the yordle could get a closer look.
“It’s my own creation. 100% unique. You won’t find anything like it anywhere else.” He usually wasn’t one to brag about his augments, but this guy seemed to be the rude type so he wasn’t against a bit of showboating. A thin beam shot from his eye and scanned the smaller yordle for statistical purposes.
“My name is Rumble, not shorty.” he muttered, glaring at the taller yordle, clearly not happy with that. Rumble knew already how small he was, even compared with average yordles, the last thing he needed was to be reminded of this fact.
After a moment, he decided to forget about that, though, deciding to focus on what caught his curiosity before. With the prosthetic arm now closer to him, Rumble carefully studied it.
“I’ve never seen this kind of technology before…” he didn’t want to admit it, but he really was impressed.

“How can I offer my services?” the small yordle crossed his arms and looked at the human, the confidence strong in his voice.

“Do you… do you need something?” he wasn’t sure of how he could help… Scratch that, he wasn’t even sure of what was the creature in front of him to begin with. This was going to be a long day.

“I’ve never seen you around here before… Who are you?” not many people came near his house and workshop, for many reasons.

Rumble usually didn’t wander very far from Bandle City, unless it was absolutely necessary. He already had enough problems on his own to even want to deal with strangers.
Needless to say, he wasn’t happy as he made his way towards Zaun to find something that hopefully would help to solve his mech’s problem. The machine whirred which every step, the metallic sounds distracting the yordle from his sulking. He truly appreciated his creation’s company more than the one of other living beings.
For a few more hours, Rumble continued his travel alone and undisturbed, until he stopped the machine to look around, inspecting his surroundings. Had it been just his imagination tricking him, or did something really move?

cigarettes-and-fuses
Ziggs just sat there, face drowned in tears as Rumble would turn away from him, stating that they were no longer friends. It stung him. Like a thousand degrees hot dagger was jabbed right into his chest, and it did not feel good at all.
“R-Rumble… p-p-please, please no! Please, d-don’t go!” he quickly got up, still sobbing, but making an effort in wiping off his tears. “P-Please… I-I’ve come back… I-I… I’m sorry, I really am! Had I known that this shit happened, I’d… I-I’d give up everything and come back fer you!”
“P-Please Rumble! D-Don’t do this!”
Rumble ignored Ziggs as he climbed into his mech, checking the systems and the controls like he did every other time. For him, there was nothing more to do or say here, he already voiced all the thoughts he kept bottled up for years.
To him, whatever Ziggs was saying didn’t matter. He already made up his mind, and an apologize alone wasn’t going to change anything.

An old saying goes that one can often tell the worth of a man by their handshake. With any luck, the saying would hold true in this case and the Yordle could finally realize the selfless intentions of the human before him. It was sturdy and firm, the grip secure but not so tight as to try and crush the other’s hand. A single pump of the arm was given for the friendly gesture, the human’s strength perhaps translated through it for a moment. A kind smile followed, like one would perhaps give to an old friend, before he released his grip and withdrew his hand from the yordle’s gloved one.
“An… Odd name, I must admit. But, judging from you, oddly suitable. Again, its been a pleasure to meet you, sir Rumble. I dont mean to rush off but I’ve some business to take care of. However, ff you’ve ever need of any assistance while you’re here, just ask for my name, and I’m sure we’ll cross paths again.”
Canus stood and gave a slight salute to Rumble, a farewell. “Safe travels, friend.”
This human was strong, he could easily tell that. As for what that strenght was being used for, he didn’t know and frankly, he didn’t care, as long as it wasn’t going to harm him or his creations everything would be alright.
Well, he really didn’t seem to mean any harm. Rumble supposed this one deserved at least the benefit of the doubt.
“... I’ll remember that.” actions spoke louder than words. If he really meant what he said, the yordle would surely find out sooner or later. “And if you ever need a good mechanic, I’m around Bandle City most of the time.” if he could get some business out of this too, it would be really great. Most of the pieces for his projects wouldn’t buy themselves, after all.

Teemo crossed his arms in front of his chest. “That’s kind of above your clearance.” He kept the schtick up about thirty seconds, until he got reminded of the futility of this farce. Those who gave a damn usually never had full clearance, and those who had, didn’t, really.
“…what’s the point. Bad news.” He took a deep breath. This was not his favourite kind of report, not by a long shot. He wasn’t too welcomed back into the city if it came to his old employers, but there were some things he still had to do. And who would stop him?
He raised his hand. It was clenched into a fist, and a necklace-chain was dangling out “I gotta get this to someone. I … haven’t been around here for a while, if I tell you the name, can you help me find them?”
So this was serious, and more than he expected.
After a moment of silence, he nodded, his mind already racing to recall all the faces and names he could. He didn’t personally know most of them, but finding someone couldn’t be that hard.
“What’s the name?”

Fighting for what he believes in. There would be no other way to die that would make him prouder of what he has done all his life.
