An article first published in 2016 going through the "The One-Hundred Year Study of Artificial Intelligence" report which assesses the socio-economic implications AI will have on eight major aspects pertaining to a typical North US city citizen's life: transportation,domestic service, healthcare, education, aid for low-resource communities,public safety and security, employment and workplace,and entertainment.

Korean superconductor drama: lead researcher "K unilaterally submitted without permission from the others"

Important disclaimer - the link is a genuine yonhap (the Korean equivalent to AP or Reuters) article, in which the reporter has some quotes from two of the more prominent researchers. Most of the article cited is a recap of the happenings of the past few days, but at the end exists quotes from two of the more prominent researchers of the project. Don't take my translation as gospel.

From the 7th paragraph from the bottom, here is my translation.

Meanwhile, the writers of the paper have drawn a line, saying that it is not a finished paper and there was no agreement on the reveal.

CEO Lee, in a phone conversation with Yonhap, said that "Research professor K unilaterally submitted (the paper) without permission from the others." and that he "requested that Arxiv remove the submission."

Dr. Kim also said in an interview with the American New Scientist Magazine that "the two papers have many flaws and was posted without his permission."

CEO Lee stated that K was the CTO at Q-Centre, but he relinquished his position 4 months ago and now has nothing to do with the company.

A contact at Korea University said that K is unable to be contacted by them as well.

Researchers have mentioned that the research in question has already improved upon the superconductor paper submitted to the Journal of the KACG (could be wrong about this, let me know), and have asked for a review by international academic journals.

CEO Lee said "We've sent the organized results of the research to the proper academic journals and that will get us peer reviewed," and that "the methodology has already been revealed so we will be judged by academia."

Overopulation question

I just saw a news article saying that Japans population fell by 800,000 people last year, and similar trends were seen in other asian countries. And this made me think about Elon musks comments disregarding the supposed issue of overpopulation, saying we must increase the population or we will face a rapid population collapse (hemce his reasoning behind having so many kids).

Can someone the logic behind his comments, i.e. how the threat is possible and what he means? And does the above news about Japans fallin population relate to or support musks proposed issue?

The only kinda sense i can make about how its possible is somethong to do with falling fertility rates. But how would a population just collapse fast enough for us not to stabilise it.
