"I need you to keep talking to me." Natasha said, looking at the younger version of herself. Things were not going well for both of them.

That would almost be funny if it weren’t so tragic—someone actually needing to tell Scarlett to keep talking. That was a first. Usually, people had to ask her to shut up. But under those circumstances, she didn’t exactly feel like rambling, and that was probably a bad sign.

“Fine.” she muttered, a little quieter than she meant to. A new wave of pain hit, and she winced before continuing. “What do you wanna talk about? How lovely today is? I'm having a great time here.” It was meant to be a joke, but it probably came off more like a complaint than anything else.

Scarlett had taken a step back and was now watching Ava closely before slowly nodding her head. “I get it. It takes time, doesn’t it?” Scarlett wasn’t a stranger to teamwork—she learned a lot at the academy and she was used to being surrounded by other people. But she still also preferred working alone most of the time. It was just easier that way. So she could understand, at least partially, what Ava was saying.

Still standing in the same spot, she relaxed a little. “But you strike me as someone who adapts quickly, so I’m betting all of this will start to feel more natural soon. Or close to it, right?”

"Still getting used to this whole team dynamic thing," Ava spoke. She had been so used to just going it alone. Even one of the other members tapping her on the shoulder sometimes just gave her a little surprise. She hadn't been used to any kind of human touch for years. Now it all came all at once.

"It's weird. It's not bad but, it's weird."

Even though things were a lot different from how they used to be, it still felt like so much had stayed the same. Dozens of agents walking around back and forth, busy, focused on their work and all that. It was familiar. Scarlett was already used to this environment and knew how to navigate through it without getting in anyone’s way. Or at least, that’s what she thought.

“It’s fine, really.” A small smile formed on her face as she reassured the other agent. “I could probably say the same thing.” Scarlett didn’t recognize the agent in front of her—there were still a lot of people around she hadn’t met yet, which was both a good and bad thing. Still, she gave her a quick glance, tilting her head slightly. “Busy morning? Feels like things never stop being chaotic around here, huh?”

Liza was still trying to re-familiarize herself with... well, almost everything. The city itself wasn't different, per se -- though finding a new favorite coffee place had been an initial challenge. But the office had a lot of new faces, so when she ran, quite literally, into the younger woman as she rounded a corner, it didn't surprise Liza that she wasn't familiar in the least.

"Sorry -- I'm so sorry," As Liza looked at the other woman, there was the smallest itch of recognition, like she maybe had seen her somewhere before, but she couldn't place it. "Usually I pay more attention, but I uh... I'm a little off this morning I guess. Are you okay?"
