Edit I tried to "subtly" hide my rant in the tags but this is so stupid on so many levels that I have to keep talking.

You know why people like these things op? Cos they're human made art which is in many cases not just literally about robots (again, ROBOTS... MACHNES, not ai) but are analogous to our own lives.

WallE is not just about the consequences of over reliance on automation and machines, but also about unlikely romance, something that strikes deeply with people because they also experience romance.

Mega man (not the original series necessarily as it's not very story rich, but later series' like X and Zero) show the nuance of the artificial intelligence powering robots becoming so accurate that they are literally just mechanical humans, and the moral conflicts that come as a result of this. It's humanising robots because the robots in most of the franchise ARE humanised in the story.

You know why BMO is humanised and fun and lovable? Because specifically in the universe he was coded to be like that. He was created to be a cheery companion. Remind me where in adventure time BMO required 700 million gallons of water to cool again... Remind me where in adventure time we see the four year old boy who lost his job as "companion to old man" because BMO was invented - oh right, these things didn't happen because not every human like machine in fiction is comparable to modern ai in anyway.

Even most series that depict artificial intelligence don't depict anything similar to modern generative ai because generative ai is not artificial intelligence, it's just regurgitating stuff it's seen before in a big giant server.

If mega man in universe took a gigantic ass server that had the same environmental impact as modern LLMs I would be against him, but he doesn't - because mega man's brain is contained within himself and not a server elsewhere. Mega man also won't tell me there are 2 R's in the word strawberry.

Who's job did Jenny take again? Last I checked she was a teenage robot protecting the planet when necessary and staying in her lane the rest of the time, kinda the exact fucking opposite of modern ai.

"you would be advocating for the segregation or extermination of c-p3o because he uses too much water and takes artists job" honey where the fuck in star wars do we see him (or BMO, or mega man, or Karen or literally any of these robots that at least I am familiar with) using water to cool their giant llm server or stealing jobs.

This entire post feels like you had the thought "damn... People think ai bad... But then like ai in fiction" and then just googled "ai characters fiction" to try and make a point without understanding any of the characters or what generative ai even is.

Some of the stuff I ranged about in the tags I covered again in this big rant, but there's some stuff I didn't mention too. I'm just so perplexed that someone is either this stupid or more likely that someone is able construct such refined ragebait.

You know, I find it very annoying that artists, animators, actors, writers, and a bunch of other people bitch and whine about how much they hate generative AI and want it in its entirety to be banned and criminalized while at the same time loving stuff that either humanizes AI or portrays it in a positive light, like Murder Drones, The Wild Robot, Futurama, Detroit Become Human, My Life as a Teenaged Robot, Star Wars, and Free Guy; as well as talking about how much they love and/or fetishize ai characters like T-800, HAL 9000, and Ultron; and how they support robotkins and AIkins; like, my sibling in Christ, NO YOU DO NOT!!! If characters like Roz, Wall•E, Karen Plankton, Jenny Wakeman, C-P30, B.E.N, BMO, and Uzi Doorman were real, you would not be friends with them, nor would they be your waifu/husbando/babygirl, YOU WOULD BE ACTIVELY ADVOCATING FOR THEIR SEGREGATION AND/OR EXTERMINATION DUE TO THEM TAKING YOUR JOBS AND USING TOO MUCH WATER!!!
