A Proud EXO-L Speaking....

I could not possibly sleep without talking about this (it is currently 6:30AM from where I am) so here it is...

I AM SO PROUD OF EXO! I AM SO PROUD TO BE AN EXO-L!

I was there from the beginning... from when SM released that they were releasing a new boy group, from their first teaser, from their prologues, their debut, comebacks, everything... I was there for everything. For almost six years, I have watched them smile, cry, being happy, sad, struggling, striving, everything. I have watched them from being “SM’s flop” to “Korea’s Nation Boy Group”. Never did I think there was going to be the day in where EXO was going to perform at the Olympics but... it happened right before my eyes (through a TV screen) and I am completely awestruck! I am just purely blessed to be part of the fandom in where I am not just grateful for having nine (twelve) boys to stan, but a loving fandom. So thank you EXO... thank you EXO-Ls! It’s been such an honor being part of this fandom. May more years of legendary, historic moments like this come down our way.

So I’m moving soon and I had my last state fair at my home state for at least a while. At this fair, they offer these airbrush items (like shirts, hats, backpacks, etc.) and I’ve always wanted one so I decided to get one as like a last gift.... well if you ask me... I beautifully customized it

Girls’ Generation Appreciation

So I’m late to the game (better late than never)... I know but I want to completely congratulate Girls’ Generation for their 10th year anniversary. To still be a relevant and continuing girl group for that long is just truly amazing and I can’t even begin to explain how proud I am for them. So I’m going to try to express my appreciation through a story... 

In June 2010, I was completely oblivious to the world of kpop. I honestly didn’t even know Korea was a country (I was like 11, give me a break). I was on vacation to Vietnam (I’m Vietnamese and I was visiting family). We went out to eat for my aunt’s birthday. There was a TV at this restaurant and it was playing this music channel. Now because I’m anti-social and my Vietnamese is decent, I stayed in front of that TV and just watched it for most of that lunch. As I was half watching it, this comes on. 

Oh yes... my first experience with Girls’ Generation was Oh....

And I knew from that moment.... I was in love. 

I really liked the song. I liked the video. I love the color (because I was obsessed with pink at that age). And I LOVED the girls. They’re so pretty, cute, happy, and talented. 

Now what really attracted me to Girls’ Generation (or Kpop in general) was the fact that they were dancing and singing at the same time. Something I don’t see with American music at the time. 

I came home from that party and I immediately looked up Girls’ Generation (thank you video for telling me the group) and as I got deeper into Girls’ Generation, I kept falling more in love. Like Run Devil Run was my jam. So was Gee, Into the New World, Genie, etc. With Girls’ Generation, I discovered more kpop groups and so I applaud Girls’ Generation for opening my eyes to this type of music I only listen to now. 

So when I flew back to America, the first thing I did was show my cousins and friends about this new girl group that I discovered so that we can fangirl together (in which we did).

At this time of getting into them, Run Devil Run was released a couple months before I found out about Girls’ Generation and they were only in their third year. Now it’s been 10 years and I can’t even grasp by how much time has passed. Girls’ Generation are reaching their 30′s (still look way better than I ever could). Now I’ve grown for an 11 year old to almost a 19 year old (if you’re confused on the math, my birthday is in October so I was turning 12 in 2010). I was going into middle school at the age and now I’m on my way to my freshman year of college. 

I never had the heart to move on to other girl groups. Now the cousins that I showed Girls’ Generation to 7 years ago has moved on. Some like Red Velvet, some like Twice, Lovelyz, Gfriend, I.O.I, Blackpink, etc. When even asked by one of my cousins as to who my favorite girl group was recently, I proudly said Girls’ Generation. She (sadly) responded she didn’t like them anymore as they are better girl groups out there (which I disagree to). Just from even thinking about liking another girl group more than Girls’ Generation just tore my heart. I can’t move on from the people who started my kpop obsession. 

I also love Girls’ Generation for the start of my passion. I love to dance and that passion was awakened because of Girls’ Generation. Watching them dance to Oh, Run Devil Run, Genie, Into the New World, etc. made me interested in dancing like them. I self taught myself how to dance and till this very day, I still love it. I love it so much that I sprained my ankle for it... twice... and I still danced even though I should’ve been resting my ankle. I love it so much that I’m proud of the hard calluses on my feet. I love it so much that whenever I talk about dancing, people notice that I get so happy. I love it so much that I have no fear dancing in front of people and this is coming from a person who hates attention and socializing. I cannot just simply move on from the people who was the start of my passion. 

I wasn’t with them from the beginning but I’m so happy to have been on this journey with them for 7 years. I will support them through the upcoming years. I will support them even beyond Girls’ Generation. I promise to never move on to another girl group as they will always have a special place in my heart for eternity. Thank you Girls’ Generation for the amazing experience and discovery I’ve made since I’ve been a Sone. I will forever be grateful for everything you’ve done for me, your fans, and for kpop.

What I’m Jealous About with EXO

So in celebration of EXO’s comeback, I’m making this post that will explain some of things that EXO has possession of (rather it be appearance, personality trait, objects, things like that) that I’m jealous about. Now there’s a lot of things of EXO I’m jealous about but I’ll just get to the main ones.... 

BTW: I’m doing OT12 because I still love Kris, Luhan, and Tao

XIUMIN: HIS MOTIVATION TO LOSE WEIGHT 

Now I’m not trying to sound rude or anything when I say that. In my experience with attempting to lose weight, I lose the motivation to in less than 24 hours. True story. With someone who is not happy with their weight, I look at Xiumin in 2012 to now and I’m quite jealous about the weight he has lost. NOW! I’m not saying he was fat (because he wasn’t) but we can’t deny that Xiumin has lost weight in the past five years. When he talks about his dietary plans, that really shows to me that he does motivate himself to lose weight so that was the first thing that came into mind when I think about what I’m jealous of about Xiumin. 

LUHAN: HIS EYES

Like do I really have to explain... like his eyes are beautiful! Those pairs of eyes could bring world peace. They sparkle... twinkle... shine bright like a freaking diamond. Enough said. 

KRIS: HIS MULTI-LANGUAGE CAPABILITIES

Something about myself.... I love learning new language... I just suck at learning language. To get in idea as to how bad I am... in high school, I was learning Mandarin because I thought the language was cool and the idea of being able to understand EXO’s Chinese tracks (to a certain extent) excited me. We were also forced to take a language class. Well in my four years (I’ve recently graduated), I went through 3 1/2 years (dropped the class my senior year second semester for personal reasons), I have the ability to hold a conversation for probably a minute. I can say the basic “Hi, my name is...”, “I’m from...”, “I am 18 years old”, “my birthday is”, “my family has four members”, etc. Basically all of personal information stuff. For someone who took 3 1/2 years worth of that class, I should basically be able to stay complex sentences like directing a person to a destination or talking about the weather. Well the most complex I could probably get to is what the day is. 

Well Kris is able to speak four... FOUR languages fluently while I’m sitting here speaking fluent English (that is questionable sometimes), decent Vietnamese, and shitty Mandarin. So for someone who wants to be fluent in other languages, you can imagine the jealousy I feel towards Kris when he is able to speak Mandarin, Cantonese, English, and Korean. 

SUHO: HIS MONEY

SUHO: HIS LEADERSHIP SKILLS

From someone who has always been a follower, this is what I’m jealous about with Suho. Although EXO is a bunch of brats, we can’t deny that EXO still treats Suho with the uttermost respect. They all look up to to him. They care about him. With the role of the leader, he’s put onto even more pressure from the company and the members. He represents the group. With doing the award acceptance speeches, he has a lot on his plate. He takes on any hits that are not only towards him but the others as well. EXO is very lucky to have a leader like Suho. 

LAY: HIS CARING PASSIONATE SELF

Do I really need to explain this? Lay is so caring towards his members and his fans. Lay just wants to make the world happy and that’s always been a cute trait he has. The world doesn’t deserve someone like Yixing... he’s too kind for this world!

BAEKHYUN: HIS LIPS

Now some of my think (or not), “what about his beautiful hands” and that’s true, he has quite the hands. Although to be honest, I have quite skinny fingers just like Baekhyun (his is probably skinnier) so I’m not really jealous about a trait that I sort of have... moving on... 

BUT HIS LIPS THOUGH.... like his lips are so pink that it’s not fair... my lips are more of darker pink but like his is nicely bright pink. Now that could be the work of makeup making his lips that color but the shape of them is something I’m also quite envious of... and how thin they are... and how they look cute yet seductive... I’m just jealous of his lips... I want his lips... this just got really creepy. 

CHEN: HIS VOCALS

Must I explain.... Now being honest, I prefer the sound of Baekhyun (going a little off topic... I know) just cause his voice sounds more soothing and more pleasing to my ear but I cannot... for the life of me... deny that Chen overpower Baekhyun in skills. So I’m jealous of Chen for his vocal skills for I inspire to belt out notes like Chen can. 

CHANYEOL: HIS ABILITY TO PLAY INSTRUMENTS... OR TO MUSIC IN GENERAL

More stories about myself... I learned how to play the piano for three years almost a decade ago and I was so bad at it that I was still at beginners level after those three years. Now I dropped it because I lost interest in playing it but now I sort of regret it because I really enjoy listening to piano pieces. Along with guitar pieces.... two instruments that Chanyeol can play. This trait can also relate to Lay as well because he two plays those instruments and can music (yes, I’m using broken English on purpose). I listen to piano and guitar (and guzheng) pieces and I really wish I can play those pieces. 

Also the music thing... I tried to take music theory in high school because I thought it would be fun to compose music but then I went through a semester and I backed out hard.... it was so hard and so I’m jealous of them to be able to compose... 

D.O: HIS COOKING SKILLS

Because I can’t for the life of me cook. I honestly don’t know how I’m going to survive through college when the only thing I can make is eggs and rice (I mostly bake but I don’t plan to fatten myself up with cakes and cookies all the time). So I wish I can cook like D.O can... enough said. 

TAO: HIS MONEY

I just think it looks cool and it would be cool to do all of the things he can do. Like that’s the things I’m jealous about and I just think it looks cool.... period... 

KAI: HIS SMILE

Much like Luhan’s eyes... Kai’s smile can bring world peace. Like it’s so sweet and cute. He turns into this stuffed bear whenever he smiles. So basically I want my smile to bring world peace.... or at least be cute.... 

AND LASTLY

SEHUN: HIS ABILITY TO MATURE

I mean... he was a baby back in 2012. Like the Mama era had him looking like he was still a child but BOOM he’s a man now. Like from the time between Growl and Overdose was Sehun’s time to mature. Like I was shook when I first saw him in Overdose... he’s all grown up *single tear falls down face*... while I still look like a potato back in 2012 and now

Now that’s the end of it. I’ve said previously that this isn’t the only thing I’m jealous of, this is like the tip of the iceberg of how jealous I am of EXO. If you want to, go ahead and do this yourself! I would be interested in what your jealously lean towards (or if anyone will actually participate in it). 

Now Kokobop is coming soon and I’m extremely excited to stream and support EXO and help them win that 5th Daesang because it will happen! So let’s all do that together and make EXO proud and even more of a legendary group. WE CAN DO THIS!

EXO Circle Jerk Off

It was one in the morning. My friend was sleeping over. We were laughing about something until....

Which had me thinking of this scenario...

Me: I don't know but I can honestly imagine Suho just gathering around the members and just saying "in this exact place, we're going to meet at 9PM sharp and we're going to have a circle jerk off to see who can last the longest. EXO Appreciation (Happy 5th Anniversary)

I just want to take this moment to write my appreciation towards EXO. If you’re someone who is passing by, you don’t have to read this. Scroll past it if you don’t want to… my feelings won’t be hurt.

In 2010, I became an official Kpop fan. Before EXO, I’ve had a history of liking kpop groups for a short period of time. For example, I liked Super Junior for 5 months before moving to Shinee for 7 months then Boyfriend, Beast/Highlight, Teen Top for a month then Infinite for 5 months. Yeah… I didn’t stay in a fandom for that long.

When EXO debuted on April 8, 2012, with barely knowing them, I’ve grown a strong attraction to them. From watching all of those teasers and prologue, I believe that’s where my interest start. Their showcase brought my attraction to them to heighten but that was all I know of them. When they officially debuted, they become the ultimate group that I stan. Yes, they became my favorite group on their debut date….. but…. I thought this was going to be another group that I’ll like for a month and move on. Well, a month went into two to three to a year to two years to four years and here we are today. Five years down the road and I’m still dedicated to supporting everything and anything that is EXO.

EXO has done so much for me in these past five years. On the day they debuted, I can honestly say that my mental health wasn’t considered normal. On the days that I’ve felt my lowest of lows, I could always rely on EXO to bring me back to my high moments. They are essentially my rock that holds me up… that keeps me grounded. I don’t know what would happen to me in a world without EXO but without them today, I feel miserable. On days where EXO are having their lows, I want them to know that, not just me, but all of the EXO-Ls would do anything to bring a smile to their face. To ensure that their insecurities about anything should be fruitless because we’ll stand up for them for anything.

EXO became my first for almost everything. The first group I’ve liked for more than a year, the first (and only) group that I have merchandise from. The first group I’ve ever gotten an album. The first for me to buy an album with my own money. The first to build a shrine for (it’s not really a shrine, it’s a bookshelf with EXO merchandise on it). The first to have posters of. The first to cover my wall since 2007. I’ve accomplished many things with EXO and I hope this continues into their sixth anniversary, seventh, fifteenth, maybe even after their disbandment. No matter if there was twelve, eleven, ten, or nine, I will support EXO and their former members. Maybe I’ll finally accomplished seeing them in person/concert.

They’ve worked hard for us. They’ve struggled and suffer for us. They’ve strive to show all of their capabilities for us. They’ve been pushed to the limit for us. They’ve done everything they could for us…. and I’m proud of them. I’ll always be proud of them. We should always be proud of them. Their hard work is paid off by our support.

Something I feel like I never get to say is how much appreciation I have for this fandom. I know that some of us might be crazy (*cough*sasaengs*cough*) but we show so much dedication towards EXO. Like the Times Square billboard shows some EXO-Ls dedication (which is simply amazing) but it doesn’t always have to be in a form of money. We show dedication through our support and willing to bring EXO awards and giving them recognition. We also have very talented artist, editors, authors who spend countless hours on artwork, videos, and fanfic for our viewing pleasure to which I have to say thank you to all.

I’m glad to be part of this fandom. I’m glad to be blessed with people like EXO because sometimes it feels like we don’t deserve them. No matter where they’ll be in the future, I will always be there for them. We always will. So thank you EXO for everything… thank you EXO-Ls for supporting them through everything.

Reaching out to all EXO-Ls

Help me out! I'm a senior in high school and our yearbook staff granted us the opportunity to enter in a senior quote. I have absolutely no idea what to do and I'm running out of time (I have likes two days... Friday... December 16th). I just know I want to do something EXO related. I thought about doing a quote that makes people go WTF but I'm also okay with inspirational ones as well. Help an EXO-L out because if I don't submit a quote, my entire senior class is going to gang up on me. So far, I thought about "Better Yehet today than Kaebbsong tomorrow" but I'm not really set on it. So show me what you got... please...
