“Oh stop! I’m going to end up being even more cocky at this rate.” Amelia joked at her being called an expert. “Yeah, my sorority house isn’t far to walk to if you don’t mind going there?”
Reza smirked, then shook her head. “I don’t know you very well. But it’s hard to imagine you getting any cockier. Not that it’s not charming, though!” she complimented. Reza began to walk with her, having been to a few of the houses for parties, even in her short time at the school. “No, don’t mind at all. I have the afternoon free. Lucky us!” she added.Â

“You really don’t know how dramatic I can be.” Violet responded with a chuckle. “Making them? Definitely not, no. I’m not a baker really. I was going to suggest going and getting something from a cake shop.”
Reza smirked. “I think anyone that’s known you for four seconds knows how dramatic you are, Vi,” she teased. All in all, she still enjoyed her company, knowing that she herself could be quite dramatic occasionally. “I’m going to have to do an extra after practice because of you. BUT -- cake does sound pretty damn good,” Reza agreed.Â

Amber-Jade laughed softly when Reza quickly explained herself. “Don’t worry about it, I feel the exact same way. I’m fairly sure that I’ll literally collapse in a heap on the floor if I don’t get caffeine into my system soon”, the redhead joked.
Reza smiled, and stuck her phone into the pocket of her sweater. “So glad I’m not alone in that. You look familiar -- I think I’ve seen you around campus quite a bit,” she told her. The woman had a very unique look, it always stuck out to her. It even reminded her of a teammate back at St. Mary’s, which only further peeked her interest. “Long day?” Reza added.Â

“I’ll get you an extra shot in your coffee, then. I’m fairly sure that will get you through the meeting”, Arden said confidently. “I should warn you… if you fall asleep in the meeting, someone will likely throw something at you”, she laughed before ordering and paying for both of their drinks.Â
Reza gave a brief, playful pout at the woman’s threat. She then shook her head. “Okay, okay. I promise I will try not to. Can you make it one of their donuts though, if you do feel a need to throw something at me this evening? Sorry though. It’s not that I don’t like going. It’s just -- It’s not something I’m used to, you know?” Reza asked, hoping to get some understanding from her.Â

“I wouldn’t be surprised if coach had a bad day before coming to training because that session was particularly difficult”, Lola agreed. “I was going to let you come over for free because I’m such a good captain but I won’t say no to a free coffee”, she laughed.
Reza’s eyes went wide. “Shit, yeah. I didn’t even think about it that way. It should be your responsibility to take care of the other players,” she teased. Reza wasn’t necessarily in dire need of money, but she never minded someone treating her. “Buuut, a deal is a deal. You getting nervous, by the way?” Reza asked, mentioning the woman’s upcoming wedding. She couldn’t even imagine what it would be like, she even felt anxiety just knowing someone who was getting hitched.Â

“That’s very Karen-esque behaviour there”, Noah said, tutting at her in a disappointed fashion; although he was clearly just fucking around. “Which is a completely justifiable reason to throw a toddler style temper tantrum and hold up the whole line. The barista should have known that it was spelt C-A-R-Y-N”, he quipped, the sarcasm heavy and obvious.
Growing up in Vallejo, she was quite familiar with Karen behavior. She had hoped she had rid herself of it, coming to a college town. “I’m tempted to get a an extra coffee, hot, just so I can accidentally spill it on her when this is all over,” she mused, a sarcastic grin on her face. “So, you’re looking for a caffeine fix too? Or just came to to enjoy the show?” Reza asked him.Â

“Not at all!” Amelia laughed. “But I do think something black and lacy would compliment your skin tone and bring out your eyes.” She complimented. “Thanks. I would need to take some measurements before I can start on the outfit if you’d be comfortable with that.”
Reza liked the idea of letting the woman pick something out and customizing something for her to wear, even if briefly. Who knows, maybe she could even buy it from her, if it was something she really enjoyed the look of. “I think you’re right. But, you’re probably more of an expert on this stuff than I am,” she said with a slight shrug. Walking back from the trash can, she placed her hands on her hips. “For sure, yeah. I’m guessing, someplace other than here though?” she asked.Â

“Oh no, I transferred. I’m from Seattle. I was going to U of Puget Sound before this,” August informed her, a small smile forming on her lips. “Well, I can’t say it was nice to meet you, Reza. Maybe the next time we bump into each other will hurt less, and then I can,” she joked.
Reza was known to snap at people, but in her opinion, only for those who had deserved it. She wasn’t one to put up with other people’s shit. “Nice, nice. In the same boat. Transferred from St. Mary’s, over near Oakland at the beginning of the school year,” she explained, unsure if a newcomer would know where it was. It was nice meeting someone who was going through the same shit she was. She shrugged her shoulders. “It’s cool. I’m tough, things could be worse. You seem to be having some shit luck though. Maybe I could buy you a snack or something?” Reza offered.

Jack knew he’d need coffee to keep him awake if he planned on studying for his exam. He’d stopped into Grounded and got into line when a brunette turned her attention towards him. “Me too,” he nodded. “And I’m really sort of hating myself for thinking I should wait until now to study for an exam tomorrow,” Jack told her. “To be fair, I don’t think it’s the barista’s fault that there’s a line. No one’s saying your time isn’t valuable.”
Reza’s flickered up at the response behind her. She hadn’t been expecting one, but at least a conversation might make the time move a bit faster with a distraction. “Heh, yeah, I get that. I should probably study tonight. I just -- I don’t have motivation. I think I’d rather hit up Netflix, ” she said in agreement, slipping her phone back into the pocket of her sweater. Reza then looked to the front of the line. “Yeah, I don’t think it’s their fault. I think everyone just had the same idea we did,” she added.

“I’m fine.” Once her papers were all back into her hands, August stuffed them back into the bag she had slung over her shoulder. “Just… a bad first day,” she elaborated with a sigh, mustering a small smile on her face. “I’m August, and sometimes I’m a lot more pleasant.” She chuckled, offering out her hand.
Reza handed over the last paper that was in her reach over to the woman. “Ah, yeah. I get that,” she said with a slight chuckle. It wasn’t that long ago it was her own first day at Monarch. “You’re a freshman?” she asked her, knowing, like in her own case, she could have been a transfer student. “I’m Reza, by the way. I think you’re being plenty pleasant, all things considered,” she reassured her.Â

Noah had plans to hit the library after this, needing to finish an assignment for one of his economics classes. He stopped to grab a coffee from Grounded on the way but hadn’t anticipated how long the line would be. He hadn’t even noticed that the person in front of him in the line had crossed her arms over her chest until she started to explain her stance. “It’s a good thing you complained, otherwise I would have totally tweeted about this Karen in the line in front of me”, Noah joked.Â
Reza rolled her eyes, playfully, as the latest addition to the line entered behind her. She could tell by the voice who it was, before she even head to swivel her head. “If you did that, I think I’d be legally allowed to murder you,” she said, smirking at him. That was essentially why she’d voiced what her attitude was, not wanting to cause too much of a stir. “I think the reason the line is moving so slow is because a Karen is upset that her name was spelled wrong on her cup,” she teased.Â

Arden had idly scrolling through Instagram on her phone when Reza started talking to her, Arden quickly putting her phone away so that she could focus her full attention on her friend. “Don’t start playing the tired card, you’re coming with me to the LGBTQ+ club meeting tonight”, Arden said firmly. “You’ve missed the last three so I won’t be accepting any excuses tonight. I’ll even buy your coffee if that’s what it takes to get you to tag along”.
Reza was caught, redhanded and she knew it. By now, Arden knew her practice schedule to know that this evening was cleared. Not only that, but given how she was stretching her legs, she had just finished practice. “Fine. But if I fall asleep, you can’t be mad at me. I had to wake up at 4 to study before class,” she explained, turning around completely to face the woman. “And deal. Coffee is on you, this time.” Reza remembered they did offer coffee and other refreshments at the meetings, but she hated that iced coffee was never an option there.

“Coach really decided to work us to the bone tonight, huh? I was worried that I was the only one feeling this exhausted and that I might just be out of shape”, Lola admitted, laughing softly. “Good luck with that! We’ve got a hot tub as well as a bath at our place though, you’re welcome to come and use it”.
Reza shrugged. “Thought maybe we pissed em off or something,” she said with a small laugh. Honestly, she was just glad to be a part of the team at MU, rather than at her former school. She playfully rolled her eyes at her comment. “You keep talking about it, I’m going to have to invite myself over to use it. I’ll pay for your coffee if you let me?” she suggested as a trade-off.Â

“Yup. I went from being kind of late to very late for my evening class, so I feel that.” Rebekah thought out loud as she quickly recognized the voice of the girl standing in front of her. “Just getting out of practice?”
It didn’t take more than a couple words for her to realize who had come up behind her. Of course, she was used to hearing it inside a classroom. Her head whipped around, and then nodded at her question. “Yeaaaah. Finally. One of those practices that felt like it was twice as long. What about you, which class are you going to?” she asked. Reza had changed out of her practice apparel, and into a pair of black leggings, and black adidas sweater.Â

The two women had gone to the coffee shop together after practice, it being Lola’s first training session back after getting off her crutches. “I didn’t think that you’d be rude enough to agree to grab a coffee with me, then huff about my presence”, Lola laughed. “Are your legs aching as much as mine? I can’t wait to get home and take a long hot bath”.
Reza couldn’t help but to laugh at her comment. Usually, she wasn’t in a great mood to be standing in line waiting to grab a coffee, knowing she only had about 10 minutes before her class of the day began. But with it being in the late afternoon, it didn’t bother her. “Yes! Right? Yeah, that’s what I’m upset about. Standing in line while my legs feel like they are on fire!” she said, the last word resonating and said louder than the rest. “Jesus, rub it in, okay?” Reza teased back, playfully bumping her shoulder into Lola’s. “You think I could get them to install a bathtub into my dorm?” Reza joked, taking a step as the line finally moved forward a spot.Â
