i suppose this is the first givanology post here? i just wanted to draw teeth and i was curious whether the birds' weird beak ridges had a real life-ish counterpart.

their mouths, and flesh/skin in general are green because they have givanium (fictional weird green goop,, i'll go into that later for any of you nongobbers) as blood essentially, like how our flesh is red mostly because our blood is

the human is Ever Eacret and the rift interpretation of the player, she/her. doesn't actually play a big role like at all (the books are about the monsters but she has her own spinoff), professional at acting like a neurotic prey animal and dealing with getting grisped by giant murder goats.

so like if you know GoB this might not be much of a revelation but even if you don't this will hopefully still make sense, Rift can be read and understood fine without the canon

so this here guy in the image is Uthman Adam (or just UA) (i want him to step on fifty legos and you will soon find out why) who created all the creatures, he was introduced to Givanium by some dude I never bothered to name and used treated it ethically at first, but unfortunately he is a money craving prick and he slowly goes insane the more godless abominations he brings to life

the other two founders (and formerly his close friends) Heather Smith (oc) and Weverly Mason are both intensely displeased with his cruelty and endangerment of his own corporation but Heather decided to express that by holding screaming matches every day and Weverly was too cowardly to step up to him and just grew distant n silent as the other two spiraled in their own hate for eachother

(bonus givanology for this part for those that don't know: Givanium needs to be paired with the genomes of animals to determine behavior and generally stabilize the creature. GV lifeforms can be either sophont or completely animalistic, and that all depends on whether they carry human genome.

those that do will mirror the voice, mental gender (they're biologically sexless) personality of their genome donor and may even recall some fleeting fuzzy memories from the person, but they do not remember names in said memories)

his projects were aggressive and unstable (mostly due to the way they were treated and also multiple identity crises for the sentient (talking) ones) but he, well, didn't have all the time in the world and was like "fuck it" and revealed them to the public without fixing their behavior, which somehow turned out completely fine

for like 6 minutes.

see the facility is enormous, and couldn't really keep up with its own size and development and therefore the architecture was a little shitty, and something collapsed close by and the crash startled the monsters so bad they essentially reverted back into their animal instincts, sentient or not, and revolted against the human crowd.

the founders were attacked during the massacre and Adam tried to fight back but,, yk

anyway after everyone was felled and the monsters were left to their own tools, they retreated deep into the facility and formed a crude society of sorts. nobody that goes down there, even armed investigation crews, returns.

Rift the trilogy takes place 5 years after these events, maybe a few months after the first three canon games. (everything else canon-wise didn't happen and is replaced by the books, but a majority of the characters introduced in them still appear and play a role)

WHAT THE FUCK ACTUALLY IS RIFT?

Rift (or sometimes referred to as the Rift Trilogy) is a fanfic trilogy centered around a complete AU of the Garten of Banban (sigh,, yes you read that right) series and currently my largest, most well known and oldest project. the first book was started in 2023 and later gained two sequels (Thief's Throne and The Cycle) in 2024, none of which are currently finished, but the first is nearing its end. (there's also a plot-unrelated prequel spinoff, Ornithophobia, as of 2025)

as for the actual plot, Helen (oc) makes a pact with an abyss-dwelling snake (oc) with ulterior motives, watching the facility slip down into a tangle of chaos and starting to question whether all this was truly worth it.

TRIGGER WARNINGS FOR THE ENTIRE SERIES: violence, death, possible gore, a whole lotta trauma, manipulation, abuse, generally disturbing themes, some suicidal ideation but no actual suicide carried out, some form of cultism, mentions/goals of genocide
