Tumblr Tuesday: Haunted Textiles

From knitblr to crochetblr, the fiber arts communities on Tumblr are going all out for Halloween. 

Has anything ever been more haunted than this utterly ghastly ghostie?

Love, passion, and unity- these were the values that were evident to my whole journey not only as a MMA student, but as a student enrolled in MMA156. Starting this experience was a rough path. We divided ourselves into groups, brainstormed ideas, and conceptualize the flow of the whole event. I think the hardest part was to gather the portfolios that were needed and to find a way to produce the artworks presentable to the viewers. I know that every success needs discipline and hard-work, so I really did my best to pave my way into creating my portfolios, which lead me sleepless nights of preparation just to finish it.

The whole class and Sir Nate, our college instructor, inspired me more to be a better artist, they showed me that being different is not a problem and that it creates more unity and connection to everyone not only as a team but also as a family to each other. In the final preparation, almost everyone attended the ingress and I have seen very much dedicated people who tried to help even if they still have no sleep, because according to them “its okay to be exhausted as long as we are enjoying.” At the day of the event I could see everyone’s smile beaming at the whole atmosphere. I woke up really early just to go to the event place and fix my artworks. At first, I was slightly nervous because I did not know what output or design would fit in my wire mesh but thank God I managed to put things all in line with the spaces. Here are the pictures of my photographs and poems sticked to my wire mesh.

It was mix emotions of happiness and victory. People where really happy and curious to  see every art that we posted. At 12 noon, we decided to eat lunch and after that we went back to the  exhibit hall wherein we could see people taking some of our business cards. I was really shocked yet happy at the same time when Rosy and Sir Nate asked me to host for the event on the spot. I know I have hosted multiple events inside and outside our school, but I was a little afraid since I wasn’t prepared. But God didn’t let me down and I did my best and tried to uplift the whole event with positivity.

As time passes by, more and more people were coming to check out our exhibit. There were some who even asked questions about our works which made us feel really happy. The rain started to pour a little so some of the wire mesh were forced to move, yet the show must go on. Me and my friends were also enjoying each and everyone’s company whilst taking photographs which each other and sharing our experiences and stories to how we finished our artworks. Me and my group of friends also had a photo op to each of our artwork stand showing support and helping each other to be better persons.  

I also sang 3 songs which were Overjoyed by Stevie Wonder, Nobela by Join the Club, and Torete by Moonstar88. All of my friends were cheering for me while we were enjoying everything that was happening. I can say that every pain and hardships were worth it once you’ve seen the product of determination and hard-work. One of the most unforgettable feeling was the fact that people whom I don’t even know were also stopping by my artworks and appreciating what I’ve done for the past years. My friends, classmates, family, and love ones who gave their time and effort to see my works were amazing. I believe that these moments will always have a huge space in my heart and I will cherish this memories once I leave. I give my warm gratitude and thanks to God Almighty for giving us strength, knowledge and wisdom through our whole journey. I know that whatever happens in the future would be successful as it is today.
