I love everyones cursed ocs but...I dont think we are being honest with ourselves. 9 times out of 10 you are gonna be pretty drastically altered physically and mentally often in a pretty unpleasant way. Like of all the cursed we meet the most lightly mutated are

One thing I haven't seen people talk about is that even after the visitor leaves people will still be getting cursed pretty often. Like assuming you don't need the visitor to be present for that to occur, theres tons of cursed that spread their curses like an infection and WHO KNOWS how many photos and descriptions and other depictions of the visitor are out there. Like imagine how dangerous going on the internet would be post visitor. Instead of shock images being gory or sexual its a pic of an eye that makes you mutate.

not to rag on another indie horror game but Look Outside is so so much more empathetic when it comes to disability when compared to a game like Fear and Hunger. In Funger disability is just a source of horror. A violation. A debuff.

But in Look Outside one of the grand takeaways is "people will muddle through no matter the state they are in". People will live on. And laugh! And love! In the 2 best endings 'No Going Back' and 'Denial' the cursed forge onwards. They struggle and they hurt but they keep going. And they are not alone.

...anyway sorry to go on a weird rant on your post 😬

up late as fuck and thinking about the kind of accommodations various Witnesses would end up needing in the wake of the catastrophe.

The Freds, for starters. The dialogue with Fred Who Bites gave me a good chuckle but I really am curious as to what a happy (or happy-ish) ending would look like for him. It might really end up having to be a bunch of warning signs around him for people to keep their distance. And Fearful Fred? He's too scared to come outside of his wardrobe, and it makes sense as to why. He's small, defenseless and made of paint. I imagine him having to practically take the wardrobe with him in order to go anywhere, or at least sequester himself in some kind of protective shell. He'd still be an agoraphobe no matter what, but maybe with the help of the other Freds he'll not have to go out as much.

Or Micheal, from the basement. He's not only blind, but pretty messed up from what happened to him. He probably won't ever get to a point where he can communicate with the same capacity he could before. But if given the right tools he could communicate his wants and needs, and with a service dog he'd be able to navigate without sight. He'd love that dog with all his heart. Having no real hands to feel braille with, he'd probably need a dictating app in order to read. Preparing food would be tricky, and he might need a caretaker. Given everything he's been through, he'd probably need a caretaker anyway for assistance with some of the basics. But he'd be okay.

Henderson's "soldiers" have been scrambled a little. They might even have PTSD from events that never really happened to them. But for the most part they're sane! Although all the extra arms might make it hard to fit through doorways or keep balance. Imagine three separate canes held by three separate hands to prevent the top-heavy arm clusters from making them topple over.

Just as Emmanuel said, now they have more of a reason to use a walkman than ever since the large buttons are easier to use. In fact, they use a computer fitted with a typewriter keyboard and an old cell phone from the 80s now as well. I'm talking those giant brick phones that people stuffed into their glove compartments.

Or Jeanne! Even after you slay the heads, that's a LOT of Jeanne to deal with! She herself says it's a process to get used to. She'd probably need assistance for transportation and wouldn't be able to fit into smaller buildings. She might need two separate apartments rolled into one to live in.

There's something reassuring about these guys, despite everything, being able to live their lives, even if it's not done perfectly. You don't come out of events like this perfect, you come out bruised and battered and scarred, but alive, and able to live on with help from your fellow humans. Idk, it gives me hope for myself is all I'm saying. I hope the world the Visitor left behind is more kind to the disabled than it is here.

What I really love about Xaria and Monty is that they are believable messed up teens. Like they treat Sam and people around them badly but in a way that reads as "we are angry and resentful kids" not "we are irredeemable monsters". Even kicking Rat-baby, while extreme is something I totally buy a girl like Xaria doing. To her RB probably just seems like a creepy monster pet instead of a child. (Also Monty's warface interaction with Rat-Baby is genuinely really cute)
