if one were to rank the Most Hardshine episodes of campaign 1, obviously at the top would be ep99. ep100. ep70. ep57. with some other more brief but memorable moments in other episodes ofc, but i think a surprisingly strong contender would be ep59

like this is the episode where moonshine “sniffs the nape of hardwon’s neck where all your most personal scents are” to figure out which hardwon is the real one (something emily says in a later short rest was specifically bc hardwon and moonshine just kissed). where when theyre battling fake sulfur hardwon and moonshine crits on him theres this exchange:

sulfur hardwon: how could you do this, moonshine? we kissed!

moonshine: *softly* you remembered?

sulfur hardwon: of course.

hardwon: *interjecting hurriedly* i-i remember!

moonshine: [overlapping hardwon] i thought maybe you didn’t remember ‘cause we were in the weird trance thing.

bev: we all kiss all the time, it’s not special!

moonshine: *still quiet* true. good point.

hardwon: uhhh??

moonshine [emily]: [i look at both hardwons to see their reactions to that]

hardwon [jake]: [it cuts deep]

and then when the sulfur monster turns into gemma, moonshine IMMEDIATELY says eagerly “i got the next one!”

and when sulfur gemma kisses hardwon moonshine asks “does it seem like hardwon kinda likes it when she kisses him?”

AND when moonshine greater restorations hardwon:

all like the, all like the dumb feelings that i’ve had from, uh, from queen ezra and like, the like, you know, the confusing—the confusion and like, maybe jealousy and all that shit. i just gotta put it in the back burner and just think of really positive thoughts.

also all the other petty comments abt gemma moonshine makes. like when hardwon realizes he lost galad’s head, he says “i lost something real important to me” and moonshine says audibly annoyed “are we talking about gemma again?”. or when theyre going to ask someone abt lydia moonshine says “i know you got gemma in your pocket but what abt your mom?”

(also honorable mention to when hardwon and bev talk to the mind drained guy and ask him abt moonshine, he says “the angel?” (bc moonshine was trying to convince him she was an angel who came to save him) and hardwon immediately says so seriously “yes, the angel”)

(and in the short rest is when emily and jake officially say that theyre not going to discuss the hardshine kiss bc jake says “its better left unsaid” and emily says “i want it to be as awkward as possible”. and jake says “i imagine that hardwon is also trying not to think abt it”. when they say theyre going to answer it like hardwon and moonshine they just go back and forth like “what about that kiss?” hardwon “what kiss. what kiss. youre making it weird” moonshine “what kiss. yeah i dont remember i kiss a lot of people, i kiss a lot of people”)

some of the gifts from the elemental titans - moonshine’s water breathing, hardwon’s armor class, beverly’s fire resistance - are permanent. and come up often enough during the run of the show that you almost forget where they’re from.

cobb’s gift from the elemental - one we don’t see nearly as often - was a +10 to movement.

which isn’t a lot, especially when it comes to an npc’s stat block.

however, when you remember that his final act alive was running, sprinting, “as far as [his] ol’ legs can run” to bring gruumsh’s soldiers away from hardwon’s unconscious form, saving his life?

then it’s everything.
