btw crying over how maxwell's memory of the purest joy he could remember feeling being one of when he was a kid, getting lifted in the airplane pose by his grandfather while they both watch airships take off. i thought for sure it would be something like the feeling of a win after an intense fight, but instead it was something so pure. 😭💖 MAXWELL!!!!!!!!

So Comfrey’s opinions on the crew seem to be:

Despite their falling out she trusts that Daisake has been watching Olethra and will help her come to Zood

Believes that Olethra will one day join her in Zood

Wanted to bring Van but bringing her would be the final piece someone else needs for something very likely the Eyeless Hand

Seems to have no negative feelings towards Marya but there’s something up about her cutting Ludmila out of the picture

Deeply deeply bitter towards Monty at the very least

Knows that Maxwell may have a spark for adventure but it might not have occurred to her he’d be here

I am soooo nuts over Marya. Like yes the cut to Olethra after talking about seeing herself in a young adventurer was perfect, but so was Olethra asking "didn't you start young?" To Olethra, Marya is the shining example of all that went well in becoming a young captain. But Marya made Ludmila a captain too young. And Marya only did that to pass on what Comfrey gave her. Of course she blames herself. If she stops, even for a second, she will have to recognize what Comfrey did to her. She will have to question why Ludmila was cut from that photo. Maybe, to Comfrey, Ludmila just didn't have it. She wasn't a true adventurer. She wasn't good enough to survive. It wasn't Marya's fault, to Comfrey. But if it's not Marya's fault, whose is it?
