Next chapter of my TMA/Oxenfree crossover fic is posted! Time to meet Sasha, experience far too many awkward silences and play Truth or Slap!

“So, um… what’s the thing to do here,” he asked, “other than get murdered on an isolated beach?”

“Just the standard stuff,” Sasha said airily. “Sit on the sand, mess with the fire, throw rocks in the ocean, play drinking games.”

“What kind of games?”

“We used to play truth or slap,” said Tim.

“Aren’t we a little old for that?” Jon cut in. He’d abandoned his ill-fated rock skipping to re-join them by the fire.

Tim shrugged. “Well, what else is there? You wanna run off on a scavenger hunt? How about ring around the rosey?”

Jon didn’t say anything, just frowned and sat back down.

“So, truth or slap…” Martin persisted, “I assume that’s just truth or dare but with–”

“Slaps instead of dares?” Tim said. “Got it in one.”

Sasha took a delicate sip of her cider. “It’s a very sophisticated game.”

Chapter 2 of my TMA/Oxenfree crossover fic AYAYOIF is up! Spooky island times and also Jon being a dick for no good reason <3

Jon was sitting on the base of a large metal statue – a huge anchor with some kind of seabird that Martin couldn’t easily identify in the dark. As they approached, Martin could see dozens of names inscribed around the base, surrounding a large plaque.

“We remember their lost and sunken souls,” he read aloud.

“Shhh, listen,” Jon commanded. 

He was holding a portable radio in both hands, cigarette clamped between his teeth as he frowned down at the small device. The recording continued to play from its speaker.

“...passengers were lost. In 1965, this monument was erected to honour the brave men and women who tragically perished. And when we are at last gone forever into the quiet emptiness of death, there will be nothing left but the cold universe.”

“Woah, creepy,” Tim said.

Jon’s frown deepened. “Last time it was something about a crimson fate arriving. I only caught the last few words.”

‘Martin, stop it!’ Jon snapped. His hand was in his pocket, grip white-knuckled around his portable radio. He’d been hearing static, a burst of interference so loud that it had drowned out Martin’s voice entirely for a moment, but when Jon pulled the radio out of his pocket to check it, he saw that it was switched off. 

Of course it was switched off. They hadn’t reached the island yet, and he wanted to save the batteries for the cave.
