Sorry about the multiple reblogs about this person who had horrible takes on rottmnt, but it does make me feel better to think this person is actually secretly Baxter Stockboy who put out a hit piece on the turtles cause they foiled his evil little 4th grader plans.
Adds some humor to an otherwise frustrating situation.

What annoys me is that the reason why rottmnt is undeveloped, was because nickelodeon cut the show in half. We were supposed to get 3 full seasons, but because it didn't immediately take off, Nickelodeon cancelled it and only gave the rottmnt team half a season to wrap everything up. So of course some things are going to fall short.
But even though the show runners got the short end of the stick they still did their best and delivered a great show that if it wasn't so goofy and lighthearted most of the time it'd be emotionally crushing, we saw that with the rottmnt movie. The humor stands as a breather in the later episodes and movie.
Plus you complained of the show never resolving issues (when it did) but fail to acknowledge that mutant mayhem also failed to resolve emotional issues in the series. Yeah we are presented with their issues, but they're issues that won't be resolved without them communicating with eachother, which doesn't happen, ie. they do not resolve their emotional issues.
Also are you forgetting that in the episode where Donnie struggled in witchtown there was real development there and yeah it was Donnie getting into shenanigans, but it was fueled by his deeper insecurities, which are addressed in that episode. Also the reason Mikey was so desperate to have Draxum be part of their family was because they had so little family to begin with, we see Mikey constantly want to see the good in people and thats what he did with Draxum.
Also you do realize the reason the turtles have few connections outside their family and "don't care for those outside of their family" is because they really don't have social skills? Like they were still raised in the sewers, social skills are just that, skills that need to be developed, which the turtles rarely got the chance to.
Your argument falls mute when you actually look deeper into the show, not just the characters, but the production aswell. But you refuse to look deeper, which is why we will both fundamentally disagree.
Edit: I fixed a few spelling mistakes, but my point still stands. I'd also like to add that I do get very heated about something I love, but I don't view rottmnt with rose tinted glasses. I know it has flaws, but for me, those flaws aren't too significant and are easily explained by the show runners just not being given enough time.
Final edit: Sorry being mean. I was just trying to voice my frustration, which isn't an excuse. I'm sorry for insulting you, I shouldn't be mean just because we disagree.
Actual final edit: Fuck that previous paragraph. You were passive aggressive and so defensive of your argument and unreceiving of criticism that you couldn’t accept any of the points I or other people have made. I'm gonna go rewatch and emjoy rottmnt cause TMNT as a whole deserves better fans than you.
Controversial (?) RotTMNT Take Incoming: The RotTMNT turtles are privileged, chosen-one brats compared to their counterparts in most other iterations (aka they don't know The Struggle)
The turtles of Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles don't really know the struggle that other ninja turtles do. They don't seem to want for anything. They don't seem to be in any state of poverty, at least not by the time the series proper begins. They're prophesied chosen-ones not just once but twice (the first being the Yōkai prophecy that Draxum created them to fulfill and the second being the Hamato clan prophecy to defeat the Shredder). They also don't face any adversity for being mutants as they aren't threatened by persecution from either humans or Yōkai.
Compared to other iterations of ninja turtles, the ninja turtles of RotTMNT in many ways come off as entitled ingrates who rely heavily on their birthrights that endowed them with god-like powers. Mix that with their lack of interest in training or caring about anyone or anything outside their family, and they're not only privileged but insufferable and self-centered, too. The series treats the turtles as if they're the end all be all, no one compares to the """greatness""" of the turtles who don't need anyone apart from themselves and don't need to train regularly and only need quick, sloppy montages or pep talks to prepare for their ultimate battles.
This is why just about everything the turtles achieve in RotTMNT seems unearned. They don't really struggle in any significant way as the narrative usually bends over backward to serve them their achievements on a silver platter.
The Struggle is not only essential to TMNT, but it also makes the titular characters much more compelling and relatable. When RotTMNT took away or at least greatly diminished that struggle of being an outcast, being destitute, needing and wanting friends/allies, training and practicing to improve, it took away so much from the characters while proceeding to replace all that was removed from it with practically nothing.
Sure, The Struggle is a bummer. It's sad to witness the characters face adversity that's largely out of their control, and RotTMNT is primarily a light-hearted comedy after all. However, if the 1987 TMNT cartoon could pull it off, portraying even a semblance of The Struggle, RotTMNT didn't have any excuse not to. In any event, this is in part why Mutant Mayhem/Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles surpasses its predecessor, RotTMNT, in being not only a better adaptation, but just a better show overall simply by representing The Struggle.
Much like the similarly critically and commercially panned The Powerpuff Girls 2016 remake, RotTMNT also feels like an adaptation that was cynically cleansed of the more gritty, visceral, and uncomfortable realities of the titular characters’ lives. It's such a sanitized version of TMNT that it loses its core identity and becomes something far less meaningful and entertaining.
The ninja turtles should always know The Struggle. It's an essential part of who they are and why people still like the franchise after all these years. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is about The Struggle, and I guess the folks at Nickelodeon and Paramount have finally realized that. Hopefully, the RotTMNT fandom will fully realize and come to terms with that, too.

Thank you for breaking down that first attrocious take. The entire time I was reading it I just wondered, "Did we watch the same show?"
I would also like to add that previous iterations have made the turtles prophecy fulfillers. Like 2003 TMNT did the whole thing where the turtles got mystical powers, yes it was for different reasons, but still they wound up defeating Shredder after he came back. I don't remember all the details, but yeah, they had mystic powers too.
Also, while you praised Mutant Mayhem, you forgot the fact that mutant mayhem, both the show and movie, actually spend very little time focusing on the turtles individual emotions and insecurities. Yeah they struggle to fit in, so do the rise turtles, especially in the episode where they all go to the hidden city. Raph gets profiled, Donnie struggles to get along with and understand witches, Leo desperately wants to fit into a place that won't accept him for who he is, and Mikey has to deal with not only running from the police, but also having to deal with his fathers essentially fighting the entire episode. They struggle emotionally and physically, just in different ways than other iterations.
While I love almost all iterations of tmnt, they each have their own reasons to be good. Mutant Mayhem delivers fun animation, a wholesome father sons bond, shows adversities the turtles face in a more realistic world, but Rottmnt is loved for its goofiness, how the characters joke, but the emotional impacts and climaxes of the show are also a huge reason people love it and to pretend they don't exist is a blatant disservice.
Also are we forgetting that all it took for most humans to trust the turtles was a random teenaged girl busting into news office, taking over and essentially saying "Hey these aren't the bad guys. They're my friends. They're cool!" I know I'm grossly over simplifying that, but if what you want is struggle, then acknowledge the flaws in your own beloved TMNT iteration.

I don't usually get gatekeeping, cause I almost never do it or engage in it cause I like sharing my interests and things I like with other people.
That being said, I'm gonna start gatekeeping James Sunderland from Silent Hill 2. I've recently gotten into that game and the amount of people that just boil down his character to be 1 dimensional, or they base their opinion on what ending they get, (which is determined by the player's choices in the game!) is insane.
Spoilers for the game past this point.
Like I've seen alot of people just explain James as just a peverted murderer, based on the Maria ending, which is arguably one of the worst endings for James and is entirely based on player choice!
Then people don't like him cause James kills 2 people, but one was a mercy killing, cause his wife was suffering from an illness that was only getting worse and there was no cure, while the other murder was in self-defense. He's a complex character and far more complex than I can express right now, but I'm just tired of seeing people completely miss his character.
If you can't understand the complexities of his character, you don't get to enjoy him. Sorry.

My name is Ayman, I am 25 years old. What scares me the most is when my death in an Israeli attack is mentioned as a number among numbers, for example (a young man and 3 others were killed in a civilian attack). I am not an ordinary young man, nor a number among numbers. It took me 25 years to become as you see now. I am not ordinary. I have a home, friends, a memory, and many achievements.

Hello my friend, my name is Jaafar from North Gaza, I am 24 years old, and finally after waiting for a whole year of killing, displacement, hunger, massacres and genocide against us, the time for a ceasefire has come, thank God we are still alive after all the exhaustion, and during the next week we will return to our homes in North Gaza, which was completely destroyed, unfortunately our area was completely and brutally destroyed and we have nothing left, neither a home, nor property, nor furniture, nor clothes, nor any other clothes, I know that returning to the north will be very painful and difficult due to the lack of the necessities of life, and we will start building our lives from scratch, but we are happy for the war to end.
