Hey I wanted to ask about what was the inspiration behind Mikasas backstory.

Mikasa is a mural of shattered pieces stitched back together with painstaking care. 

My own life, for example, echoes this struggle. After re-reading the chapters to edit them, I found the bond between Levi and Mikasa mirrors the dynamics in my family. Just like how Levi warns Mikasa about the harsh realities of the world and tell her to stay away from certain people, my mom tried the same and since then I have lived deeply with my mother’s cautions in my head. Growing up, I lacked many life experiences, but I wanted to build them slowly through Mikasa and her upcoming journey.

Historia: We all kind of thought you and Eren were dating. Mikasa: What? Why would you think that?! Historia: I mean you do couple-y stuff like sleeping in the same bed. Mikasa: That’s not couple-y! I just didn’t want to waste the space. Historia:You tucked him in and kissed his forehead. Mikasa:It was cold! Historia:You whispered, “sweet dreams, my love.” Mikasa: …It was a battle hymn.

Which age periods of them will be shown in the fic?

This fic is linear and is split into three parts that follow the characters across different stages of their lives.

Part 1 covers their early childhood, from the age of 7 to 16 or 17.

Part 2 jumps to their adulthood, where they are 26 years old and covers months.

Part 3 is set in late adulthood:)))
