Season 1 Episode 41: Ms. Apu’s old friend

Is Sally x Doowee Inevitable?

For whatever reason the fact it’s spelled “Doowee” is making me crack up especially today

Anyways

I was watching that Christmas episode, because @fantastickoalaobservation and I were just randomly talking about how old the characters are (specifically Kevin, who is probably at the end of high school or starting college at the very oldest) and I was like yup, Doowee is an absolute sucker for Sally and he’ll realize it one day 😆

I mean, sure, Sally has her celebrity crushes, but anyone can have that, right? As young as those middle school fanatics who postered the whole school, or as old as Ms. Apu crushing on that one movie star kid, Cosmopolis is quirky like that. Everyone loves celebs.

And sure Doowee can have his type, and I’ve conspired about that myself, I’ll admit— it’s one of my longer older posts. He likes green hair I swear! But anyways…

It’s like a reoccurring theme in that episode, and it’s so funny. Every time Sally even acknowledges Bob’s existence or says “great idea” Doowee is like 😑 😒 and grumbles.

Heck, even Bob picked up on it, mocking Doowee for his jealousy. Bob has no interest in Sally obviously but Doowee can’t stand it.

The way he ended the episode as well…

“So… Bob is nice, okay, but… so am I!”

Yeah, you are, Doowee. Too nice. Grow a spine, boy. 104 episodes and you don’t ask her out in any of them 🥱

Heck, even Lee asks her out. He has guts, putting up balloons for her all over the school. But that’s another episode…

Season 1, Episode 46: The Egg War

Cassie Fit Check!!!

Generally, the characters in the show are limited to one or two outfits max. Of course, this is a relatively tiny kids show on a budget TV channel that ran for two years, with 10 minute episodes. It’s not gonna be effort supreme™️ but still, a larger wardrobe for the show’s cast would be nice.

In the above image, you can see Cassie’s classic outfit. That’s what we know her to wear. A long sleeve white shirt with pink hems, denim skirt, knee high socks, pink shoes, and of course, her signature pink hair held back by a clip.

Then the next day, we see her wearing this:

Oh my God!

Credit where it’s due— my friend @dharshie is the one that noticed this switch-up. What happened to you, Cassie? Was this a mistake? Was it intentional??

Realistically, it was a mistake of some kind. Optimistically, it’s an Easter egg. But hey! Let’s justify it. Why can’t Cassie try a new hair color, a new hair clip (if you zoom in), and a new skirt? She definitely rocks it. Perhaps her friends shot down the new fit though. That’s why we don’t see her wear it afterwards 😔

Season 1, Episode 1: Cockroach Capers

This post is possible because the official channel has published all episodes of the show!

I just wanted to talk about this first episode and how it starts the mood of fantasy from the very beginning. In the VERY FIRST EPISODE,

1. We have a high school student that can genetically modify insects.

Sally is from a wealthier family and Little Bombay is a well-off neighborhood with a well-funded school. I wouldn’t trust high schoolers with genetically modifying tools though…

2. There are cockroach race gambling dens in Cosmopolis.

We already know that this city is special, and even more so now that we know gambling is legal within its jurisdiction. It’s also know that the gambling establishment is named after its neighborhood, “Little Monkey.”

How many other high schoolers are involved in this business? Bob isn’t the only “bad” guy at school. Interesting…

Why is DooWee like this? Why does he crave female attention so bad? Eh, whatever— not all 13 year olds are hormonally equal. Ok but I will keep my DooWee 💚 green haired gals 💚 conspiracy going 😡😤 maybe he has two types, ok? He’s not a picky dude now, is he?

I just found it really nice as a detail that they put a French map of Sherlock Holmes’ hideouts around London on Sally’s desk. It’s one of those built-in-to-the-table maps of course, under a frame and glass. Pretty cool.

Also in that episode, Sally was reading a 2009 newspaper so that means she’s 12+11, 23? Oh my. Time really does fly. She’s already gotten her Masters Degree, what’s she up to now?

Oh look, the least relevant character in the whole show (Clementine) gets a cameo! Barely. I mean, she appears on screen for a few seconds. Pretty lame character overall. Did nothing to help the show. Even Sita, Dharshie’s little sister who makes a appearance here too, has more relevance.

We’re not gonna talk about how impressive it is that Nirmala crept through the vent unnoticeably all the way from the dance room to the cafeteria?! Sally barely could run back and forth in the time Nirmala comfortably CRAWLED THROUGH A VENT SILENTLY back and forth. Like damn. Maybe she’s just more athletic and a little skinner than Sally is or something. And she’s shy, so she doesn’t compete in any athletic competitions like the other kiddos. But it’s crazy, yo. Fr. She’s just so impressive.

Every time Fluffy Daffy, Louie’s rapper dad, shows up, you always know that part of the “lesson” or “moral of the story” is gonna be something about parenting. In this case it’s usually about paying more attention to your children- actually it may be about that every time this dude shows up.

Did you know, when I was young, I used to think “why is Vanille wearing dirty clothes? Eww?”

But then I rewatched the episode in 1080p and I realized, her shirt isn’t a dirty yellow! It’s a light yellow colored vanilla flower, that looks like a yellow stain on 360p quality!

Idk for some reason I just found it really funny when i realized it. Second hand embarrassment, is that what it’s called?

Compared to being the odd one out on the dance team, this one’s shallow- she’s the turquoise haired one in the friend group! And possible the only one with this hair color in the school. Can’t forget her iconic headpiece either 😝 reminds me of like olden days royalty’s jewelry a little bit.

Oh, and return Jaya her tennis racket please? She’s clearly angry.
