Season 1, Episode 46: The Egg War

Cassie Fit Check!!!

Generally, the characters in the show are limited to one or two outfits max. Of course, this is a relatively tiny kids show on a budget TV channel that ran for two years, with 10 minute episodes. It’s not gonna be effort supreme™️ but still, a larger wardrobe for the show’s cast would be nice.

In the above image, you can see Cassie’s classic outfit. That’s what we know her to wear. A long sleeve white shirt with pink hems, denim skirt, knee high socks, pink shoes, and of course, her signature pink hair held back by a clip.

Then the next day, we see her wearing this:

Credit where it’s due— my friend @dharshie is the one that noticed this switch-up. What happened to you, Cassie? Was this a mistake? Was it intentional??

Realistically, it was a mistake of some kind. Optimistically, it’s an Easter egg. But hey! Let’s justify it. Why can’t Cassie try a new hair color, a new hair clip (if you zoom in), and a new skirt? She definitely rocks it. Perhaps her friends shot down the new fit though. That’s why we don’t see her wear it afterwards 😔

Today it's finally happened.

I am in my bedroom, door closed, drawing and listening to a podcast.

When suddenly, far away, muffled enough that I think I'm dreaming it, a familiar whistling sound.

I pause my podcast, prick up my ears. Yes, right there, in the next room, I hear it:

Doowee wooooo weeewoooooo...

I leap out of my chair, open my door, find my roommate.

"Are you watching Doctor Who?? :D"

Alien Grand Prix

the monster buster club and their friends all go on a mission together, in which they help rebuild people's homes that had been destroyed by storms, in a town within the kingdom of pine richland on planet ishkabibble. they also teach people about Jesus while they're at it. then they all have a festival to raise money for charities to help people and animals in need, and to help spread the gospel everywhere on earth and also throughout the universe. there are many refreshments and the friends partake in activities and games. they are the same kinds of mini games from Bonk's adventures. Dr. Fred is in charge of signing up for the mini games, and Nurse Edna and Weird Ed help run the games. first of all Kaniki, Hinoki all sign up to play the game of jumping on the Floret Sprungs to try to reach the top before everyone else. they compete against Dave and his friends. jonah do the flip off a cliff game with Kenny the shark, sam and max, and creepie creecher. Melissa and Doowee play in the miracle maze with Jetman and his monster friend, the Kitty, tutenstein, and leisure suit larry. the winners get medals afterwards and everyone cheers for them. then, it’s time for the main event, the Alien Grand Prix! as his friends and family gather around to see him, John is excited to be about to participate in this special event with Cathy. His close friends, Willy Beamish and his pet frog Horny, Pepper Pumpernickel and her dog Lockjaw, and Adam Greene and Paquita the bat are also going to be in the race, ready for some friendly competition. Willy and Horny are on Mr. Smith, pepper and lockjaw are riding Jenny, and Adam and Paquita are on Zarb. meanwhile Bernard, Laverne and hoagie are being wished good luck by their friends, dave, sandy, syd, razor, Michael, wendy, and jeff, as they get ready with Moppy. Even Cheepki, Cathy’s cute and playful baby, is joining in to run alongside his mother. except Cathy is missing. where can she be?

Dharshie genuinely appears to be a nice and well-mannered girl, but she is shown to be fairly vain and proud over her achievements and accomplishments. Season 1 Episode 41: Ms. Apu’s old friend

Is Sally x Doowee Inevitable?

For whatever reason the fact it’s spelled “Doowee” is making me crack up especially today

Anyways

I was watching that Christmas episode, because @fantastickoalaobservation and I were just randomly talking about how old the characters are (specifically Kevin, who is probably at the end of high school or starting college at the very oldest) and I was like yup, Doowee is an absolute sucker for Sally and he’ll realize it one day 😆

I mean, sure, Sally has her celebrity crushes, but anyone can have that, right? As young as those middle school fanatics who postered the whole school, or as old as Ms. Apu crushing on that one movie star kid, Cosmopolis is quirky like that. Everyone loves celebs.

And sure Doowee can have his type, and I’ve conspired about that myself, I’ll admit— it’s one of my longer older posts. He likes green hair I swear! But anyways…

It’s like a reoccurring theme in that episode, and it’s so funny. Every time Sally even acknowledges Bob’s existence or says “great idea” Doowee is like 😑 😒 and grumbles.

Heck, even Bob picked up on it, mocking Doowee for his jealousy. Bob has no interest in Sally obviously but Doowee can’t stand it.

The way he ended the episode as well…

“So… Bob is nice, okay, but… so am I!”

Yeah, you are, Doowee. Too nice. Grow a spine, boy. 104 episodes and you don’t ask her out in any of them 🥱

Heck, even Lee asks her out. He has guts, putting up balloons for her all over the school. But that’s another episode…

Random observation: This scene at the end of That's Rock 'N' Roll:

The gang's chilling backstage after their gig with Dizzy, nothing out of the ordinary, but look at the trio to the right interacting.

Julie smiles and Vanessa rolls her eyes at Tommy...

... and he winks at her! Seemingly annoying Julie in the process.

And then when Doowee enters, Tommy looks really mad lmao.

I'm a little surprised I even saw this, the whole scene passes by in about a second. It's honestly always neat to see unexpected details in the background of this show, be it animations like this or background art, especially in the first season!

How to watch Sally Bollywood in the 2020s?

TL;DR: I wanted to watch an obscure childhood favorite of mine but struggled to find it. Eventually found it right there on YouTube.

RAMBLING INTRO:

During my kid to early teen years, I was obsessed with a show called Sally Bollywood: Super Detectives. I made YTPs, wrote her into a butt ton of fanfiction, and made my PfP on Sonic Amino and Wattpad an image of her. But like most things for some reason I stopped watching it, this has happened a lot with my interests as a child I would make up an excuse like me growing up, worry people would judge me for it, or deem the series as being the devil? (I still don't know how that last one got into my child-brain, it was about Yokai Watch btw). But in the past few years starting from late 2020 onwards, I have started revisiting these things. Some I still have little interest in for actually valid reasons but the important ones have all stuck around. (I.e Yokai Watch, MySims, etc) So my next move is to let Sally back in. But without Quobo the channel it was most known for being on how was I supposed to watch it?

SENSICAL:

Sally Bollywood's first season is streamable in full on what claims to be "the safest free streaming service for kids" Sensical. At first, the layout of this site confused me but once I found the search bar I was good.

This is all well and good but how do I watch season 2? Sensical excludes the second season entirely and Wikipedia has little information on it besides episode names and a few air dates. At first, I thought this meant season 2 was lost media but I have actually seen episode 11 Night At The Museum on YouTube. How did they get the episode?

EDIT: The one I found on YouTube is actually season 1 episode 7 Trouble At the Museum not Night At the Museum. Still, there are season 2 episodes reuploaded onto YouTube so still, how did they get the episode?

PRIME VIDEO:

Likely this is how. In some parts of the world, I'm not sure where the series is available on Prime Video. If you have a VPN and know exactly where it can be found then you can watch it there, I unfortunately cannot. For some reason, they do appear to be missing episode 1 and likely a few others. This will not do.

The full series is available on a site, just out of order... For the most part, there is very loose continuity so I suppose it doesn't matter which order it is watched but I personally hate this! Everything I watch I strive to watch in chronological order oldest to newest so for me there is no way in hell I'm watching it on this site.

Episode 1 is supposed to be Cockroach Capers.

YOUTUBE:

Finally, after much searching, I found it where I should have gone in the first place, YouTube. The official Sally Bollywood channel has every single episode in both English and French separated in playlists but also combined into hour-long videos and mixed around into compilations. All the Sally you could ever want is right here.

Another thing I found particularly interesting is their affiliation with LoliRock. This is another nostalgic show I have always loved, never in my life would I have imagined Iris, Talia, and Aurianna being friends with Sally and Doowee. The category is translated via Google Translate to: "Other friends for more adventures!". They are also both now connected to Totally Spies which I have not seen but know some people may find that interesting.

IN CONCLUSION:

If you want to watch this obscure children's show after the death of Qubo, here it is! Qubo had a very diverse catalog of shows and when it ended these shows belonged to so many different people who know what happened to them! I hope that all of them at least found a home somewhere whether it's YouTube or a free streaming service. I was so worried this would be partially lost now but glad it is alive. This is off-topic but there are four Sally Flash games I'm not sure of the origins of, I'm not sure how to get them working so that is actually lost media right there.

I do have a plugin that can make some Flash games playable again but it only works for games that have been archived. Anyway, enough rambling I have a show to watch bye!

doowee’s urn analysis

Rewatching this episode and realizing the infamous breakup scene took place in front of Francis 😳

Sally seems petty as hell here -- or maybe it’s just that things escalate so quickly. Even though you know they’re gonna get back together, it still hits hard man

And then when everyone on the Archaeological Club turns on Doowee and Francis backs him up, he goes, all dejected, “Thanks Francis, at least you’re a real friend”

Wonder where that’s comin from

And where does Doowee go straight after this?

To Sally’s, where she thinks he’s come to investigate with her again 

And yeah, Sally’s still mad which then we get her being petty as hell before finally taking his case (”I’m so busy cuz I’m the only one solving cases now you see” “Fine i’ll take it but only out of pure professionalism”) Then Doowee kisses her and even though Sally says something like “ewgh” may I remind everyone the ship can be alive in our hearts

Then they’re going over Doowee’s alibi which no one can back up and Sally goes “I’m not accusing you but we at the SBI -- uh I mean I -- cannot exclude any possibility. You know that because you used to be a member of it.” Then she flips her hair and walks off

dang... then we get this scene where they make up (not make out, sorry everyone)

“we were a team and the only way for me to clear my name is if we’re a team again”

“ok... partner”

Look at how fast she take him back, imagine the dating potential (i’m done, really)

The case is solved quickly from there, then the episode ends cuz teamwork

A beautiful episode

“NO!!!! IT CAN’T BE OVER!!!!!” 3.5 million people cry

But alas, it is 😔 I kind of like how the main duo doesn’t have a perfect friendship, like they did something like this in SOS Saris too. They get into little quarrels but they always make up and that’s what matters. 

 Also idk why but I was so surprised this happened in the show at first, like this was some Captain America Civil War stuff right here.
