wynn-wonder:
Salva was a big guy, with dark, hooded brows and a confident stride that made Wynn feel relatively small around him—and not just physically speaking. He was intimidating by appearances alone, but that wasn’t to say Wynn had anything against him. He did, however, have something about it that seemed sort of Slytherin, and Wynn still remembers the first time he saw the guy, thinking he must have been in Slytherin, and being surprised to find out he was dead wrong. Hufflepuff was like the opposing spectrum.
Still, it wasn’t fair to judge a book by its cover and all that, and Salva definitely hadn’t done anything to Wynn to make him think badly of him. Wynn was jut a little shy and a lot awkward, so it was hard to hide his surprise when the older boy asked to take the seat next to him.
“Oh—yeah—I mean, no, no it’s not taken. Go ahead and take it, no problem.” He offered a nervous smile. “Not sitting with your House today? Everything okay?” Why he would want to sit near a younger, socially awkward Ravenclaw was beyond Wynn.
He was aware that his appearance made him unapproachable, that was kind of the point. While Salva would never hurt anyone, other than himself -- he mentally put himself down all the time too. He knew that other people tended to avoid him based on the scowl he always wore and the fact that he just crested the 6′1″ mark. Salva didn’t mind if people thought poorly about him. Honestly, he wasn’t at all bothered by the fact that most people even thought he was a Slytherin. His father would have loved that. But while Salva had a tough looking exterior and was a beater on the quiddich pitch, he wouldn’t hurt a fly. Most people that had a conversation with him could tell that too. He was easily intimidated by others, didn’t know how to talk to most people, and spent much of his time beating himself up over small things he said in past conversations. Most people just didn’t know that.
The Hufflepuff had also been on a mission lately to befriend the Ravenclaws. There just weren’t that many at the castle that he truly wanted to befriend, except Piper and maybe Meredith, on specific days. He really hadn’t payed much attention to Wynn though. Only because he didn’t pay attention to anyone. The fact that it was his last year here and he could count on one hand the amount of people he enjoyed talking to was a sad fact. Not one that he wanted to change. “Thanks,” he said, taking a seat and looking at the table to see what there was to eat that he’d actually eat. Not much. “I don’t feel like being around them. Everyone’s too much to handle today.” There were a lot of stronger personality types in Hufflepuff that he just wanted to avoid today. On a normal day, he could handle them, just not today when he’d been working on schoolwork all day and just wanted to get away from the norm for a bit.

beckett-charlie:
Charlie wasn’t going to rush out and try and find a place with better cell service. It really wasn’t something that was going to get anything for them and Salva… well, it was clear that he wasn’t interested in anything other than making a phone call to merlin knew where and Charlie well, the fact of the matter was they didn’t care to know. As for the common rooms, it would come with time. ❝ I suppose you’re right. Then again there really is no fun in asking, it’s all about the chase. ❞ Of course that could be taken in one too many ways and the truth was Charlie really was in no rush to clarify the statement.
❝ I’ll make sure to keep that in mind. If I come across something I’ll be sure to let you know. Although I have to admit that I don’t… ❞ Well, they didn’t see any real need to have or use a cell phone. ❝ I really don’t find any real use for cellphones so I don’t think that I’ll even know where to begin to look for a place to get better service. What about better access to the Ravenclaw? ❞
He’d always been the type that if he wanted something he’d get it for himself. What he wanted most of the time though, wasn’t something concrete. Respect, acceptance from others, and loyal friends. Not things he could easily get on his own. He wanted to talk on the phone with his mother. He wanted to go home. He wanted to be rid of Hogwarts for good -- all the bad memories, all the anger at himself for trying to become something he wasn’t, all the torture from his step siblings. Yet, he couldn’t leave. “Yeah, I thought you’d say that,” he shrugged. “It’s the best you’re going to get. Hufflepuffs don’t care.”
“Sure, thanks.” He didn’t figure there would be much success with that, so the words came out a little sarcastically. “It’s faster to contact my mother. She lives in a different country. That’s the only reason I have it.” Plus with her being ill, he didn’t like not being able to contact her. “Ravenclaw has the best service, but only sometimes. It’s not the greatest and I don’t want to go into Ravenclaw unless one of them says it’s okay.”

“I mean, I’m excited for summer. I miss my friends and my parents too. It takes owls a while to find my parents because they don’t stay in the same place for very long.” Huette shrugged. “Do you know what you’re doing when you graduate?”
“I miss my mother,” he said, thinking about how great it was going to be to spend the summer with her. The Hufflepuff looked at her. “That must suck. You should find an easier way to communicate with them.” At the response to what he was doing after graduation, Salva shook his head. “Kind of. Not career wise. I’m going to Italy. My mum’s there and she’s sick, so I’m staying with her. Other than that, no not really.”

“Fine isn’t exactly good.” Jeremy hated how self-conscious he could be about hair, but there was no denying that he was. “I don’t really know. I’ll have to make sure it’s blonde again before I go home because my dad would be disappointed if he saw me like this.”
“I don’t know. I like you better with blond hair. It matches you personality wise, I think. Like a puppy.” Salva shrugged, unsure what to say, since he wasn’t actually good at giving people compliments. “You shouldn’t care with your father thinks.”

@wynn-wonder
Ever since the conversation with Caleb in Hogsmead, Salva had been less grumpy. Though he didn’t think anyone truly noticed. There was something similar to a bounce in his step. He wasn’t entirely happy, since he’d gotten a letter from his mother saying that she was doing worse rather than better and that terrified him. Everything with the wizarding world was falling to shit, but at least he had people that cared about him. Salva honestly didn’t know what to think about everything. His father harbored some sort of hatred towards half-breeds -- which was weird because he didn’t mind muggleborns that much. Salva didn’t know how he felt. If it came down to it, he’d protect himself from someone that was attacking him, be it a regular person, a wizard, or what have you. Despite what others thought, he wasn’t a violent person and he hated that reputation, but it kept people away. “Uh, is this seat taken?” he asked, entering the hall and deciding to sit with the Ravenclaws for dinner rather than his own house.

“How do you like the hair? I dyed it last night. No more golden boy I guess” Jeremy didn’t know why he got the urge to dye his hair every time something bad happened, but he always caved and did it anyways. Though this time it was right before he knew about Tami being found.
Salva looked at his roommate and shrugged. “It’s hair. It looks fine.” Honestly, he preferred the blonde hair, but he wasn’t about to tell him that. “Are you going to keep it like that for a while or dye it some weird color again?” he asked. Salva had never dyed his hair before.

beckett-charlie:
❝ I’ve got to be honest I wasn’t actually checking out your physique. If you want me too I could probably do that, but something tells me that isn’t on the table. ❞ Shutting his mouth Charlie nodded. Fair enough if there was nothing that Salva wanted then there was no way for any arrangement to be made. Granted the idea of being in the Hufflepuff common room was quickly losing it’s appeal.
Sarcasm wasn’t something that Charlie missed especially when it was directed at him. He almost felt bad for bugging the guy. ❝ I actually wasn’t trying to cause trouble. I just thought it would be neat to find a way into the common room closest to the kitchens. ❞ Shrugging off the comment Charlie glanced down the hall behind Salva. He was starting to look for a way out of this situation before he annoyed someone too much and got hit for no REAL reason. ❝ Somehow I doubt that’s the case Salva, but if you say so I’ll drop it. ❞ People always wanted something.
In terms of offers Charlie didn’t have much that could be offered although finding out if there was another place that got cell service appeared to be something that would be of benefit and interest. ❝ I may not have much to offer, but I have ways of finding things out. Things like… oh I don’t know where you may be able to get cell service. There’s got to be someplace else besides Ravenclaws common room. ❞ That wasn’t something that was known for a fact, but it would only make sense.
In the technical sense, Salva was still single. He hadn’t talked to Caleb since their last conversation that hadn’t ended too well. Or not a serious conversation. They’d sent owls back and forth when possible, but it wasn’t the same and they couldn’t really talk. So, he was still single. But only kind of. “Sort of,” he responded. It was difficult to explain what the situation was. Especially since he didn’t understand it himself. And no one really needed to know about his drama with his love life anyway. It didn’t concern anyone in this castle. It was between Caleb and himself. Salva would wait for that conversation. He sighed, biting down on his lip.
The boy didn’t know anything other than sarcasm because he knew it kept other people away. He didn’t really know how else to talk to people now -- without sarcasm? Impossible. “Okay, well. You could just ask. Hufflepuffs don’t care if other people go in their common room most of the time.” It was one of the more annoying things about his house. But he got the feeling that the other wanted something more than asking to enter the common room. “It’s very true.” Nothing that Charlie could give him anyway.
Salva shrugged. “If you find out a better place that has service that’s not Ravenclaw -- and that has service all the time -- that’s still in the castle, not Hogsmead, then sure, I’ll help you. But I’ve even asked Tyler and he doesn’t know.” It was an impossible location, Salva knew this. It was almost a challenge. If the other could find it, then sure, Salva would happily help with something. But he knew it wasn’t going to happen.

❝ Don’t think of it as creeping as much as just getting to know the surroundings… I mean seriously, the kitchen is RIGHT there. ❞
Granted Charlie never was one to spend a lot of time in the kitchen but the mere idea of being so close to such a thing was amazing. Although now that it had been brought to their attention it did seem kind of creepy. Maybe just a little bit.
❝ It’s not like I want to cause trouble. ❞ Perhaps that wasn’t the best thing to say. ❝ I didn’t actually think you’d let me in. Especially when I wouldn’t even know where to begin because aside from Ravenclaws common room I have no idea what you’d want in return. ❞
That sounded weird, but at this point Charlie was going with it. Besides at least if Salva was talking that meant that he wasn’t saying no JUST YET.
❝ I’m sure we could come to some sort of arrangement anyways. ❞
Of course that statement alone made Charlie sound as though they were asking for trouble, but at this point Charlie just wanted to be able to say that yes they had gotten into Hufflepuff’s common room. Even if someone sent Charlie away immediately.
“Do you think I am this skinny because I spend a lot of time in the kitchens?” Salva had always been the type to watch what he ate in case he started feeling like he was eating too much junk. He counted calories. “The kitchens don’t mean anything to me.” Really, they didn’t. If they were on the other side of the castle, he’d have been okay with it. He didn’t understand the appeal of the kitchens. But Salva didn’t even eat anything with sugar and barely anything with natural sugar.
“Yes. You aren’t trying to cause trouble,” the Hufflepuff said, sarcastic venom dripping from the words. He couldn’t help it. The tone in the other’s voice was starting to annoy him. Salva didn’t like being bothered on a normal day. He hadn’t wanted to leave his own dorm room this morning, except he had classes and things to do that he couldn’t actually avoid doing. He sighed. Why was he even still here? “I don’t want anything.” Obviously... not true.
“Oh yeah? What kind of arrangement? Because from where I’m standing, you don’t have much to offer me.” No one had anything to offer him. Except the few friends he had, Salva didn’t want anything from anyone. He didn’t want to need something from people. He didn’t know if he liked the idea of doing something for someone in exchange for a later favor. Or like Charlie said, an arrangement.

beckett-charlie:
Right and that was just a ploy to tell him no Charlie was sure of it. Yet he was ALMOST tempted to ask really nicely, just for science.
❝ Hmm I’m not so sure about that. I’ve already been told to slither on home and I may be a lot of things, but I’m not slimey nor do I slither. ❞ (okay maybe that wasn’t always true)
Charlie had on many occasions attempted to slip away when he’d almost been caught doing everything he shouldn’t.
❝ Besides considering everything that’s going on people seem to be on high alert and worried about everyone. Why? You wanna let me into your common room? ❞
That wasn’t exactly asking nicely and if he said no then Charlie could just chalk it up as something he didn’t think he’d get in the first place.
Unlike a lot of the other people in the castle, Hogwarts wasn’t home anymore. Not to him. It was with his mother. Hogwarts had been a way to get away from his father. From the cruel intentions of a man that would never accept him no matter what. School was awful. He missed his mother.
“That’s because you’re creeping outside of the common room,” he stated, looking around Most Hufflepuffs didn’t care if other people hung out in their own common room. As long as they weren’t being weird about it. Trying to sneak in was like asking to get hit. At least Salva wasn’t in that sort of mood today. Not that he’d ever hit another student.
“Why would I let you in, when I get nothing in return?” the Hufflepuff asked. “I don’t think people care as much as you think they do.” He looked at his common room entrance. “What do you want in there anyway? I’d get breaking into Ravenclaw. They have cell service sometimes. Sometimes.”

Not good enough? Hardly the case, but Charlie wasn’t going to tell Salva why he was trying to sneak into another common room. He hadn’t had any luck with Gryffindor earlier in the day. Shrugging his shoulders with a smirk Charlie looked Salva over once again.
❝ Oh, my house’s common room is just fine, but what else is there to do? ❞
He really should have been working on his History of Magic homework except that wasn’t fun, it was just tedious.
Hufflepuff common room was warm and even with the recent lockdown, Salva had mostly felt at home in the place. He just wished it wasn’t located in a place without a window so he could have sent owls home. Actually his only complain was that the castle didn’t have cell service, which was why he’d been lurking outside Ravenclaw earlier. He was surprised one of the claws hadn’t taken pity on him yet.
“I highly doubt that. You have to deal with Nate and Loxley,” he replied, looking at the younger boy. “There’s a lot to do. I’m sure if you asked nicely, someone will let you into their common room.”

“Is anyone else excited about the end of school? Because the closer to the end of this damn year we get, the more I want to be done with Hogwarts altogether. Especially with all this stuff happening.” Salva’s words were slightly laced with sadness, though it was more because he missed his mother and Caleb than because of school. “I miss my mum. And being able to talk to Caleb.”

❝ Trying to sneak into these different commonrooms isn’t as easy as I thought it would be. ❞
Charlie mutters under his breath as he sneaks around in the shadows attempting to overhear each person as they enter the common room for Hufflepuff. Seriously this was the best commonroom to gain access too. Right next to the kitchens, who wouldn’t love it?
Salva looked over at Charlie, an annoyed look on his face. Not that he hadn’t been doing the same thing earlier with Ravenclaws. “Why are you trying to sneak into another house’s common room? Is your own not good enough?” Salva just wanted to grab some parchment so he could draft some letters home. To Italy.
