Second pic was obvi The Pieta by Michelangelo, but shoutout to my partner for suggesting the role reversal cause I was initially gonna draw Viktor in Jayce's arms again, but having it the other way around gave me the idea for the last piece where they're mutually in each other's arms and on equal ground in the composition

Third pic was reffed from The Blossoming Of Love by Miquel Blay! Had to move Jayce's hand to Viktor's shoulder because he was too yolked for his arm to fit between them lmao

so i decide to flip the canvas and see if there are any big issues before i fully commit to rendering it, cus lord knows i haven't in the past and things turned out shitty

Viktor's "Nobody's ever believed in me" is so gentle. It could have easily been a stab at Jayce, a "Oh you think you have it bad? I didn't have half the resources you have now" but it's not. It's not, because Viktor sees himself in Jayce. Someone who dreams so passionately, who wants to help people so intensely, and someone who nobody is helping. Nobody is listening to. Exactly like Viktor.

And the way he follows it up with "Which is why I'm here." He's telling Jayce "I'm not saying these things to make you feel worse. I want you to know that this isn't my first time standing on a ledge with nowhere to go but down. And I was alone when I did it, so I don't want you to be alone. And I want to help you, because I believe you. I believe in you, so you should believe in yourself, too. And maybe neither of us has to be alone anymore."

And when Jayce takes his bracelet back, essentially deciding that he is choosing to keep living, Viktor takes such a deep breath, because he sought Jayce out to talk to him about his work, yeah, but I wonder if a part of him imagined a world where he was barred from the one thing he fought so hard for and the one place that could make his research possible, and knew exactly what he would do in that situation.

Jayce and Viktor wake up on the other side of the end of the world. What words can you say to make someone stay? What phrase do you speak to assuage grief? I don't know. But they're smart. I'm sure they figured it out.

-Jayce sits in a room a few lumens too few, screwing a few pieces he’d just finished into what he was sure would be his final model.

He’s so sure that this is the last thing his callused hands will finish that he puts every drop of energy into it. He hopes when the client receives it and in no doubt receives the news not so long after, or perhaps even before, depending on the postal service, that they’ll treasure it all the more, each signature carved of metal into the design, each fingerprint he’d been sure he scrubbed off but will have forgotten, the passion poured too bright for any humans eyes to stand melded straight into the alloy like a chemical.

He hopes they’ll run their fingers over the hand cut and wrapped leather over each abrasive location, and that they’ll take pride in having one of his, that they’ll look at it not only as a medical device they only feel grief over but like an art piece, custom fit to their mind and body.

A great poet only in action, beautiful sonnets sung with his hands, only ever truly seen once it’s no longer in production because no one ever values anything nearly as much as they do once it’s gone.

He doesn’t want to be valued like the Ty bears for 10000 dollars on eBay, he wants to be valued like the brand of plastic dinosaur a kid had one single model from and by the time they could afford anything besides the necessities it was out of production. Like the gloves you’ve had since high school; they’re nothing special and you can’t read the tag anymore but you’d try to save them if the house was on fire.

He can’t be sure any of that will happen but it’s not why he’s doing it anyway, he continues working, only setting stuff aside when the light’s really gone and he can barely see his own hands; it feels like he blinks and it’s suddenly gone, that’s how everything has felt for a while though. -

In episode six of The Amazing Digital Circus — Jax gets too real!

In all seriousness, this was completely fantastic to watch. It was such a good depiction of self destructive behaviors and Michael Kovach was PHENOMENAL.

His instant reaction to pomni hugging him was super telling. He wants to get closer to her, his behaviors show that clearly, but he fears it as well.

His regret after the outburst is also extremely telling.

This did not go as planned. He did not expect to get so close to her and have to push her so suddenly away. He didn’t want to push her away, but felt in this moment that he needed to, at all costs.

As much as he wants everyone to believe his actions were planned, they were IMPULSIVE.

As insistent as he was on telling Pomni that he didn’t care, that it was stupid to think that he might, Pomni was right when she pointed out that Jax wasn’t fighting back. He DID care.

He never hurt Pomni for his own fun at any point in this episode. His actions directly contradict what he’s trying to make Pomni believe. He hurts the others, so she might believe him. But he didn’t want to hurt her. Not anymore. The only time he hurt her on purpose was when he felt like he needed to push her away. But otherwise? He has shown that he doesn’t see her as something to torment. Jax sees Pomni as an equal, a friend.

His words are hollow.

Even his reaction to Ragathas “accusing” him of making friends with Pomni was extreme. Initially his uncaring expression threw Ragatha off, but once she was eliminated you can see that this is the moment Jax realized he was going too far — far past even his own personal boundaries — in forming a bond with Pomni.

Jax was lying the whole time he tried to make Pomni believe he didn’t care. He used all his tricks. Deflected with jokes, brushed off the intensity of the situation, made fun of Pomnis attempts to befriend him, he even tried to make her push him away first with the traitor bit.

Actually, he seems to be obsessed with the whole bit thing, don’t you think? The archetypes.

He thinks that fitting into the role of the circus will help him survive.

As if trying to maintain humanity whilst being deprived of it causes abstraction.

So he picks the perfect role to extract himself of any sort of sincerity or responsibility.

The comedian.

He uses it as a shield even if it damages his relationship with Pomni. And he tries to use Pomni’s humorously chosen role to his advantage, to get her to leave.

Pomni’s prying would humanize him. He would be too open, too vulnerable, too human. He won’t be able to play his role anymore. Or use it to protect his sanity.

If he had nothing beneath his cruel exterior, he wouldn’t have to beg Pomni to stop looking.

Jax knows that if she keeps looking, if she helps him open up, if she pursues his friendship despite his protests, he WILL break, and he WILL show her who he really is. He can’t resist getting close with someone because he — like everybody else — needs a friend.

So he had to make her stop.

I feel like one aspect of Viktor that often gets overlooked is his relationship with movement. Especially in post-canon explorations, where his leg and spine pain have vastly improved, Jayce is almost always framed as the “athletic” one, while Viktor is imagined as the one who would rather lounge and read. And as always: you’re free to picture them however you like. This is just me sharing my perspective on what canon might suggest.

From my very first watch of the show, what stood out to me was how elegant Viktor’s movements are. The animators did a wonderful job of making everything he does feel deliberate - partly, I think, because his disability forces him to move with care, but also because that thoughtfulness is simply part of who he is.

The first glimpse we get of what Viktor would be like if he were fully able-bodied is his run at the docks. That scene made me cry the first time I saw it, and it still does. You can see him pouring his whole heart into every step — this is Viktor being free, if only for a fleeting moment.

The other, and most telling, example is during the council room fight, when Viktor moves through one of his dolls. It’s less a fight and more like a choreographed dance. And because it’s literally his mind guiding the doll, we see his own natural sense of grace, creativity, and — dare I say — sensuality, when unrestrained.

That’s why I think: if there is a post-finale Viktor who lives with less pain, then once he makes it past all the gestures vaguely trauma, he would absolutely revel in his freedom to move. Maybe he goes for runs, maybe for swims, or maybe he just dances around the kitchen in their cottage. It’s hard to picture fully, because we only ever got glimpses of a Viktor without pain — but I’m convinced that within him lives someone who genuinely loves to move.
