maddie mads madballs!!! i actually love this question sm cause i lowkey love talking about myself but the problem is i am physically incapable of perceiving myself so these are the characters that i've been told i'm similar to!!! (mostly when people glaze me tbh...)

i am bruce banner's no. 1 fan (real not fake #confirmed) and maybe that's the reason why my friend keeps telling me i'm a lot like him... but i'll take it as a compliment (and also put in on my resume, all job applications, in every essay and i will get it added on my birth certificate). so you heard it here first!!! i am bruce banner!!!

i have also gotten april ludgate a lot (from countless online quizzes and also my mom comparing me to her as she watches youtube shorts). i have never actually watched parks and rec to confirm this claim but she seems insanely cool and is also played by aubrey plaza so i say it's true!

i have also gotten robin buckley from my stranger things obsessed sister!!! robin is honestly who i aspire to be she is so so cool so i am also taking this as a compliment!

and i can't talk about my variants without mentioning raven queen!!! i did not realize we were so similar until you (yes YOU maddie 🫵) got me back into my ever after high phase and now i am pretty sure she is me in a different life!

maddie!!! you do not understand how much i love this ask 😋 (my plethora of headcanons has been waiting to be unleashed)!

the group formed when evelyn was, as evelyn usually is, bored. she decided to go through all the phone numbers saved on her phone and called someone who was saved as "metamorphosis *insert random date*" turns out it was lucas who she did a school project with several years ago. they've been hanging out ever since she randomly called him. lucas randomly adopted dylan into the group just like evelyn adopted ingrid.

evelyn was actually the one to suggest they call themselves the losers club when dylan joined to make him feel more comfortable (she thought it was "his vibe").

evelyn comes from a very rich family who are always super busy and never spend time with her, which is why she sometimes comes across as a lot/attention seeking. (she is also an only child. i feel like that makes sense).

they all tried to have a weekly movie night tradition but it devolved immediately cause they never actually watched the movies (they just talked over them), got kicked out of at least two places for being too loud, and ingrid kept picking emotionally devastating films and refusing to explain them ahead of time.

ingrid doesn’t really understand gen z humor and, despite being very sarcastic, doesn't understand that type of sarcasm, but she tries so hard. dylan sends her memes she doesn’t get and she responds with a thumbs-up emoji.

they have matching shirts they wear during sleepovers like a uniform.

lucas owns more hoodies than any person reasonably should (no one’s sure if he buys them or they just appear). dylan steals them constantly. ingrid once borrowed one and never gave it back.

dylan is, weirdly enough, the first to say “i love you” in any group situation. he made Ingrid cry once by saying it too casually.

dylan is also inexplicably good at embroidery. he also won’t admit it. evelyn found a tote bag with a tiny stitched “you suck <3” and framed it.

lucas secretly reads poetry before basketball games. he writes poems sometimes, too, but hasn’t shown anyone.

they have matching friendship bracelets that look like something a toddler made during arts and crafts. ingrid wears hers under her glove when fighting.

lucas is also very popular and knows everyone but is only ever found with dylan, evelyn and ingrid. people are constantly surprised he has other friends.

everytime the groupchat is weirdly quiet, one of them will break the silence with a trauma dump. at least once a week someone breaks it with “okay, but when I was 9—”

they have a system for finding each other at parties. it involves bird noises.

evelyn has at least one outfit change in her bag at all times.

lucas will try to climb anything. (keyword: try.) trees, roofs, fences, walls he shouldn’t. ingrid joins in only when it's technically illegal.

evelyn has an insane notebook full of highly specific compliments she comes up with for each of her friends.

despite being bubbly and flirty, evelyn is absolutely the least emotionally equipped to deal with her own feelings. if someone tries to have a sincere heart-to-heart with her, she will physically malfunction.

lucas is the only one who actually keeps the group chat from falling apart. he constantly reminds people to drink water. he once made a shared google calendar once and no one but him uses it.

lucas also has a secret talent for mimicry and can do terrifyingly accurate impressions of teachers, avengers, and ingrid’s annoyed voice.

evelyn owns a polaroid camera and insists on taking at least one photo every hangout.

dylan gets really into hyper-specific hobbies, like fixing old radios or ranking every hot sauce in existence. if you ask him about one... clear your calendar!

ingrid’s the only one who can physically carry dylan without complaint. he hates being carried so she does it all the time.

evelyn hosts “mental health nights” that involve exactly zero healthy activities. just glitter face masks, yelling at rom-coms, and eating a suspicious amount of canned whipped cream.

lucas once tried to organize group workouts. they lasted two days cause ingrid was the only one who kept showing up. they still sometimes jog together at 6am in complete silence.

they would, apparently, make a pretty neat vigilante group 🤫

Which Disney Princess would each of your OC’s be??

maddie i actually love this question sm and have been thinking about it ever since it was brought up in the gc!!!

i think ingrid is a strange mix of a few princesses!!! she gives mulan, elsa and merida vibes! mulan fits because she’s brave, fiercely protective of her family, and willing to put herself in danger for the people she loves, which really reminds me of ingrid! elsa mostly gives ingrid vibes because of her relationship with her powers, and the way she's sometimes terrified of them. but i also think she gives merida vibes because they're both rebellious, headstrong, and not afraid to push back against other people's expectations. (plus the mommy issues...)

i've already mentioned how i think vivica is the perfect mix between ariel and belle!! ariel because they are both endlessly curious about foreign worlds, and are also dremers and can come across as very naive. she gives belle vibes because they're both, and they both deeply care about the people around them! (also the fact that they feel an intense need to "fix" anyone broken and damaged in their lives)

evangeline's was hard to figure out, but she gives me rapunzel vibes! they both have this yearning for the outside world, while being trapped (rapunzel literally, evangeline more metaphorically). also rapunzel’s hair is literally a magical source of healing and resurrection which just fits evangeline’s resurgence witch abilities perfectly

andrea strangely reminds me of megara. megara is tough, sarcastic, and keeps everyone at arm’s length, much like Andrea does, but beneath that exterior is someone who just wants to be loved without getting hurt again. gwen really reminds me of anna, though!!! they are both the overlooked sisters, and are constantly living in their sisters' shadows. but they are both also bubbly, friendly, and open-hearted!

nadya was also very hard to figure out 😭 but i think she's like a dark and twisted version of aurora! aurora is someone who is trapped in a fate she didn’t choose. she’s isolated, manipulated, and used as a pawn in someone else’s plan. i think that mirrors nadya’s entire experience in the red room. aurora is known for her beauty and grace, but her real self is hidden beneath that perfect, doll-like exterior, and that just reminds me of all the widows, honestly!!!

and rowena (first rowena mention on tumblr!!!) reminds me of ariel, but in a very different way from vivica!!! ariel is driven by an insatiable desire to escape her ordinary life and become something more, even if it means making a dangerous bargain and losing a part of herself in the process. rowena is also willing to sacrifice everything (her morals, her humanity, her innocence) to escape the life of a farmer’s daughter and become someone powerful and unforgettable. ariel collects human objects and obsesses over a world she doesn’t fully understand, and rowena is captivated by the capitol and its twisted version of glamour, even as she doesn’t truly grasp the consequences of entering that world.

the day people stop dropping brain dead john walker (mcu) takes is the day i will finally know peace

like he’s such a morally complex and interesting character who was a perfect narrative foil to sam and the long-standing arc of what it means to pick up that shield and be captain america. he perfectly displays the sentiment we got back in the first captain america movie “not a great soldier, but a good man”. the us government picks a great soldier, the greatest one they have available. they do not understand that being captain america is so much more than that. a guy like john walker thrives in the morally grey environments of war but you make him the beacon of morality and goodness that is captain america and he crumbles. he was not made for it. the us military made him into a soldier, a weapon, and asked him to be something else. he acts the way that a soldier acts, does what a soldier would do, but captain america was never supposed to be a soldier, so he fucks up and makes the wrong decisions at almost every turn. he’s doing his best but he wasn’t built for this so it isn’t enough

his character is also such a good commentary on the us military, how the government asks terrible and life ruining things of its soldiers and then leaves them behind at its earliest convenience.

like john walker is the definition of “i am what you made me”. they made him exactly who he is, he lived his life by their mandates, he did everything they ever asked of him, and it wasn’t enough because they asked him to do something he could never do, stop being a soldier

i am conducting a science experiment and would like to know your average chapter length and your word count goal if you have one.

that's a good question... i actually don't have an exact word count goal, so i guess my goal would just be to not make my chapters short! (i consider short to be less than 2000 words, i think)

that's not difficult for me, though, cause i always end up yapping way too much 😭 so my chapters usually end up being 3000-5000 words each! (i try not to make them longer than that but that doesn't always work out for me...!) i really hope i was able to help with the science experiment!!!

Do you have any random Vivica facts?

And also, a compliment disguised as a question, how do you write so amazingly? This could just be me only knowing words you learn in primary school, but like how do you just know so many words?

I just need to know if I should be studying dictionaries in my free time.

i love these questions and i always have random vivica facts sitting in my back pocket!

Vivica facts:

despite sometimes coming off as too emotional/naïve, vivica is very intelligent and particularly good at memorizing numbers and dates! she's also very good at memorizing birthdays and she loves making a big deal out of them!

she likes writing down any new and unfamiliar phrase she hears on earth (like "break a leg," or "piece of cake") but oftentimes uses them way too literally (...she's trying, though!)

vivica loves braiding hair, but loves having her hair braided even more. it's literally the only time she can actually sit still. her hair is fairly short, so she usually isn't able to have an actual big braid, but she always has tiny ones scattered everywhere!!!

she knows how to knit (though barely, everything she knits is comically large with giant holes in it), and she loves giving people knitted scarves/socks as birthday gifts (and would actually explode out of happiness if someone knitted something for her)

i think she's a very jumpy person and hates loud noises/arguing. out of all the loud noises, i think she hates fireworks the least, though, as she can cover her ears and watch all the colors in the night sky

she loses a lot of people in her life, and every time she does, she adds them to a list of people she writes letters to in her journal. (the list gets very overwhelming around thor:ragnarok/infinity war, but vivica'll never stop.)

you don't even understand how happy this second question made me!!! i wish i could give you a different answer, but basically i did study dictionaries lol 😭 usually, when proofreading, if i noticed a sentence looked too simple/boring, i'd search for fun synonyms! i used to use dictionaries, but now i mostly thesaurus! and at this point i've done this so many times i can think of fun synonyms for some words at the top of my head!

but also, whenever i read books and find an interesting word/sentence/idiom, i write it down! i actually use that little notebook of cool words as writing motivation, and i flip through it when writers block is hitting me hard! also, don't be afraid to look up what some words mean while reading! i used to hate doing that (for some reason) as it made me feel embarrassed, but now i love looking up the meanings of cool new words!

i hope this all made sense and that the craving for vivica facts has been fulfilled! (also i think you'd like to know that a new vivica chapter is coming very soon!!! 🤗)

If your OC’s could only listen to one song for the rest of their lives what song would it be and why?

maddie!!! i apologize for how long it took me to answer this question! i love it so so much and i wanted my answer to be perfect and in character (and i'm hoping it will be worth the wait!)

the song ingrid would choose would be "let down" by radiohead! she is a very big fan of radiohead (and she'd be very annoying and pretentious about that fact), but i think let down is a very sad and dreamy and frustrated song that would resonate with ingrid a lot!

vivica is a pop girlie through and through, but i think she'd also pick a sadder song if she had to choose! i see her loving "waiting room" by phoebe bridgers (even though she doesn't particularly relate to it), but if she had to pick something a bit relatable she'd choose "this is me trying" by taylor swift!

evangeline is chronically stuck in the past, so i think she'd choose something a bit older, also very dreamy sounding. so, i think she'd pick "sea, swallow me" by the cocteau twins!

gwen is a secret lover of pop music, though she is anti-jackie type of pop, as she likes her songs to have a bit of an indie edge, so i think she'd choose "here’s where the story ends" by the sundays!

andrea likes listening to music to escape her feelings, so i think she'd choose something with very cool instrumentals that can drown put the lyrics if they get a little too relatable, so i think her choice would be "1979" by the smashing pumpkins

nadya is actually the type of psychopath who says she "doesn't listen to music", and while that is true as she doesn't like listening to it casually, she has a soft spot for florence + the machine and i think her choice would be "heavy in your arms" !

Angela! Hey queen! Here’s a fun question for you aka my most favourite question ever!

What is your most favourite thing about each of your oc’s? This can be anything from their personality traits, their passions, etc!

maddie!!! this is such a good question!!! you don't even understand what you've unleashed by asking it lol

one of my favorite things about ingrid (something I think about a lot when writing her) is how fiercely adaptable she is, but in this really scrappy, raw, human way. like, she is a demigod with fire powers and all that, but she’s also the kind of person who learns how to patch up a hole in a motel wall because she feels bad they can’t afford the deposit, and also the kid who insists on dragging around a half-dead houseplant because it’s her responsibility now. she adapts, she grows, she clings to the people she loves with white-knuckle loyalty. Even when she’s angry or bitter or scared, it's never apathy, but feeling too much. she’s been through hell, but she still cares.

the thing i love about vivica is that she refuses to surrender to what us normal people would view as "cringe". she doesn't do irony and she doesn't do half-hearted. she loves things with her whole chest, and she feels like it’s her sacred duty to say something when someone’s hurting or when the world feels wrong. she doesn’t hide her sincerity behind sarcasm or try to be cool by pretending not to care. (i've once had a teacher of mine describe her as a "burning comet of a girl" and at first i thought that the description fit ingrid more, but i recently realized it is very vivica.)

my favorite thing about evangeline (the thing that stuck with me so much i had to center her synopsis around it) is that she exists in this constant state of contradiction. she’s old as hell but somehow feels ageless. she’s powerful but doesn’t crave control. she doesn’t sit still, yet she soaks in the world like a sponge. she has seen death over and over again and still chooses to care about things.

andrea is actually based on one girl i used to be friends with (she is named after her, too 🤫), so i guess that might be my favorite thing about her. my friend andrea was the type of person who always wore the same outfit (like a cartoon character) but still smelled like laundry detergent and who wasn't afraid of people hearing her cynical sense of humor (that she frequently used to downplay her own emotions). i've never written a character that was based on another person, and i feel like it fits that andrea is the first one.

with gwen, i like that she seems like your usual bimbo blonde girl in 90s coming of age movies, but with emotional depth. i love the iquiet intensity she doesn’t even know she has. i love that she’s both emotionally detached and incredibly, painfully perceptive. she sees through people (especially andrea) but often refuses to let them know she does. It’s that weird tension between apathy and hyperawareness that makes her so fascinating to me. (i also love her extremely complicated relationship with jackie, but i fear she'd hate me if i used her answer to talk about jackie...)

and now nadya (i am extremely happy i get to talk about her!!) what I love about nadya is that she's the closest to a self-insert i'll ever write. of course, i'm not a red room-trained assassin, and i don't think i relate to older nadya that much (at least not when she's under mind control), but younger nadya is extremely me. younger nadya is just a girl. she is strange and emotional and extremely pretentious. she thinks no one truly understands her and she thinks they never will. she is also extremely emotional, but tries her best to act on logic. she feels very deeply, but she’s also sharp enough to understand how to move through those feelings, how to do something with them, even if it’s messy (and it usually is). i think writing her feels like i'm reclaiming something.

i actually loved answering this so much and i took my time with it (i'm not sure if you can but i actually tried to make the sentances be cohesive, unlike with my previous answers...) so i'm sorry if the answer is very late!!!

question time!!!! i asked @thesecretlifeofmaddiee this the other day but what districts would your ocs be from if they existed in the hunger games universe???

i actually love this questions sm! it made me spiral and start thinking about a hunger ganes au with all my ocs which, inevitably, led to me wanting to reread the books (i didn't allow myself to do it, though, i don't have time for that 😔)

ingrid would definitely be from district 6, transportation! i think it might be a bit obvious since she was on the run as a child, but i also think a nice detail is that, if i remember correctly, nobody in district 6 actually likes traveling that much, which is very ingrid!

vivica's was so hard to pick, but i went with district 1. i honestly think she fits in with the whole luxury district vibe and it might be the closest to asgard ig.

evangeline would be from district 9, grain (the least talked about one, of course...) it's tied to nature in a kinda quiet and eerie way that reminds me of evangeline!

andrea would be from district 7, the lumber district (her and that damn axe 🙄) and i was thinking of putting gwen in the luxury district but she is a fashion girly at heart so i think she'd be from district 8

superheroes:

ingrid's favorite superhero would be batman. i cannot explain why but in my mind that just makes sense.

i can see vivica loving wonder woman, for some reason. vivica was very wonder woman inspired in her earlier drafts, and she still gives me those vibes tbh

evangeline probably knows nothing about superheroes, but i feel like if she did she'd love superman

andrea is actually a big superhero/comic book fan, and she loves iron man ("demon in a bottle" arc is her favorite and she doesn't care if it's depressing). on the other hand, gwen knows nothing about superheroes. i do think she loves harley quinn, though, and doesn't care that she's technically a villain.

school uniform/sports day:

ingrid wouldn't mind uniforms if she can choose when to wear a skirt and when to wear pants. also if she gets to wear jewelry. i also don't think she's particularly good at any type of sports, but she is very competitive (arguably not a good combo) so sports day is... interesting!!!

vivica would HATE uniforms. she loves her fun colorful outfits and she'd cry if she was forced to wear a uniform. i also can't see vivica veing particularly good at any sport, but she loves playing in teams and just wants to have fun (a bit of a better combo) so she'd love sports day

evangeline would hate uniforms and sports day 😭 she loves rotting in her cardigans and grandma skirts too much for either. i also think she's very uncoordinated, so any sport is hell for my girl

andrea, similarly to ingrid, wouldn't mind uniforms if she got to choose between pants and skirts. she'd love sports day, and i imagine her being the type of kid to take any sport way too seriously and start yelling at people who don't know how to play/aren't interested. she's a bit more chill now, though. she loves soccer too much to pick another sport, though if she had to she'd probably choose volleyball

gwendolyn's favorite part of a school day is picking out what she's going to wear, so she'd absolutely hate uniforms. sports days are a mixed bag. like, during running/warmups, she's the type of person to walk and gossip and get yelled at because of it, but during soccer she's even more brutal than andrea (runs it like it's the navy). i imagine she played ballet for a few years as a kid (and ballet is a sport!!! idc!!!) so if she wasn't playing soccer she'd go back to ballet
