there is so much to be grateful for. there is beauty and life and purposeful in every little thing. in the smile lines etched on your mother’s graceful complexion that she eagerly desires to get rid of—she’s a cheerful soul and the small creases on her face are proof. in the gray hairs on your father’s head from his endless wisdom—inside the aging man is a boy who fought his way through life and has endless stories to share. in the ruthless gibes from your brother that he knows he’ll get away with—you’re his sibling after all, and you can always get him back. in the defiant eyerolls from your sister that mark the rebellious stage of a growing woman—she’s not a baby anymore.

there is beauty and life and purpose in the warmth of your bed, in the smell of a pot of coffee, in the swaying of an oak tree, in the sweltering heat the Sun bathes us in even from millions of miles away, in the light glow that the Moon casts down on us to announce the daily respite its granting us.

the big things in life remind us of how great life can be; the small things in life remind us of how great life is. even if you overlook them today, they’ll still be there for you tomorrow and everyday after that.

Hello everyone!

I don't really know much about blogging and stuff, but I've recently started to realize that I need more hobbies so I decided to start this blog! As it turns out, mental illness and excessive downtime do not mix well (the feelings of ennui and dissatisfaction are literal hell omg I'm going insane). I'm not sure how consistently I'll be posting since I'm still trying to get into the roll of things, but I'm going to do my best!

Here are some facts about me and information on what my account will be dedicated to! ♡

✶⋆.˚ About Me:

My name is Nataly, but you guys can call me Nat.

I am 19 years old (turning 20 this year) and I am a Libra.

I was born and raised in Southern California. Ethnically, I am Mexican/Latina/Hispanic. I am completely fluent in both English and Spanish!

My personality type is INFP-T.

I am a Libra!

I am bisexual. My pronouns are she/her.

I like to read and write on my free time, which, like I previously mentioned, I have an abundance of lol.

I am an aspiring writer. My dream is to become a renowned and respected author and I also dream of my books being turned into movies someday seeing as the film industry is also an interest of mine. None of my work is professionally published but I am working on a romance short-story to post on Wattpad just to give people an idea of my creative expression/work.

I also dream of becoming an actress someday!

When I was 4 years old, I was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune illness called Systemic Sclerosis (Scleroderma). It is characterized by the hardening of the skin and scarring of vital organs. My illness left me wheelchair bound at the age of 8 and, with its progression, has also substantially limited my rage of motion. (This is the primary contributor to my extensive free time–I am unemployed LMAO).

I suffer from Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Maladaptive Daydreaming (I also suspect I have mild OCD and ADHD but seeing as I'm a hypochondriac, I do not have the most reliable judgement when it comes to health self-assessments). Those two things also play a great part in my lack of job and hobbies.

I am working on managing those two things, however. I am actively working to reduce, and hopefully completely eradicate, the time I spend daydreaming as well as dealing with the jarring thoughts, worries, and physical symptoms caused by my GAD. These are subjects I will definitely be touching on in this blog!

I feel like it's worth mentioning that neither my mental illness or my physical illness impair my cognitive abilities. I am fully functioning, mentally speaking, and have as much cognitive awareness and comprehension skills as the next guy.

I am very family-oriented. My family is the most important thing to me.

My favorite season is Winter but I also like Fall. I also love the rain. It does not mix-well with season depression, but I'm kind of hypocritical sometimes (and hard to please smh).

Astronomy is also something I love even though I don't know much about it. Celestial bodies are so fascinating to me.

The holiday season is my favorite time of year. Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday and I love decorating for it.

I love Sanrio, especially My Melody. I love all the characters but she's my favorite.

I adore Tim Burton movies. « Corpse Bride » is my favorite. Ik it's, like, a basic one that everyone likes but I don't think it makes it any less great. « Edward Scissorhands » is a close second. The Scream franchise is also a favorite of mine, more specifically the 1st and 6th movie. Some of my other favorite movies include « 13 Going on 30 », « Mr. and Mrs. Smith », and the Harry Potter franchise (PoA and HBP are my top ones).

My favorites shows are « Criminal Minds », « Modern Family », « Superstore », « Brooklyn 99 », and « The Office ».

I listen to all kinds of music except country and rap lol (no hate, they're just not much of my taste). My favorite artists/bands are Lana del Rey, Sade, Cigarettes After Sex, Arctic Monkeys, Los Hombres G, TV Girl, Billie Eilish, Kali Uchis, Mitski, Selena (Quintanilla), The Weeknd, and Strawberry Guy.

✶⋆.˚ About My Account:

My posts will not be about any singular topic in specific. It will kind of be all over the place but, aren't we all?

Some subjects I will definitely be touching on are, of course, mental health, including the highs and lows that come with it. I plan on documenting my journey as I treat my Maladaptive Daydreaming seeing as it is currently one of my biggest obstacles. Hopefully, my account can help spread awareness about it because it's a phenomenon many people either don't know about or take as seriously as they should. I will also be posting snippets and exerpts of my stories as well as about auditions I attend (if any, the acting thing is still up in the air).

Social justice, or what many know as ‘politics’ will also be a big theme in my account. I am a queer, disabled, woman who is the daughter of immigrants–how could it not be? Bigotry of any kind will not be tolerated. Z!0nism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, Islamphobia, anti-semitism, misogyny, and anti-immigrant sentiments, of any kind will not be tolerated. My posts may come off as ‘radical’ to those who lack empathy and critical thinking (painfully scarce skills in today's society) but that's fine! I'm not here to cushion people's feelings, let alone enable their shameless hatred for the sake of ‘tolerance’ and ‘respect’.

As I mentioned before, I will not be posting consistently because I may not know what to post, I may be busy, or I may simply have no motivation to post, but I'll do my best. I do have a lot of thoughts and that has to be useful for something!!

Constructive criticism is welcome! Flat-out hate and ruthless judgement is not. Tone and wording are everything!
