As we approach college finals in the U.S. I feel it's important to remind people that no level of school failure is worth killing yourself over. Some failures have consequences. Some failures change the course of your life. But I promise it's not over.

If a career path you wanted to follow has closed because of your grades, it's ok to mourn. It's normal to be upset that goals you had are unattainable now, especially goals you've had for a long time. But you can recover. Even if you can't try again, you can find another path that's fulfilling.

If you want to keep forging down the path of academics, I'm rooting for you. Take the time you need to rest your brain. Remember that taking a semester, a year, or a few years off is normal and often healthy. Do what you need to face the next semester you take relaxed and ready.

If you've been bashing your head against the wall that is college and can't seem to make progress, it might be time to find a different path. No matter what people in your life are telling you, not getting a college education is not the end of the world. No one's approval is worth more than your life.

Every day dropouts and D students are living a life more beautiful than you could ever imagine. No amount of academic failure can take away the joy of being alive. If you're not feeling that joy right now, that's ok, but please hold on through this difficult time in your life. Things will get better.

This is specifically geared towards college students but definitely applies to anyone younger than that as well. This is not the end.

i promise you that nobody has ever in their life thought "wow, this other person inserted absolutely zero friction into my life. they were so efficient and worked so hard to get out of my way. i love them for that." not EVER. not ever ever. if you sublimated your own personhood that hard they didn't even think of you at all. the people we remember in life are the people who got in our way a little, and broke up our routine, who asserted their perspective and gave us something new to think about or feel. that's how we form real relationships -- by inconveniencing one another and actually having a marked influence on one another's lives. to be loved is to be annoyed. and to be annoying at someone. and to be thankful, at the end of it all, that somebody broke you out of yourself for a moment and got in your way.

it's great to be considerate and obviously not every interaction is gonna be special, but you can't go through life as if every person is a cashier that you don't want to get mad at you for asking for an extra bag.

Die Szene geht mir auch nicht aus dem Kopf! Und es gibt einfach so viele Interpretationsmöglichkeiten, die alle irgendwie Sinn machen. Ich bin nach längerem Nachdenken dazu gekommen, dass es vielleicht auch eine Form der Unterstützung beim Aufhören ist - Leo fordert Adam damit quasi heraus, ihm das Gegenteil zu beweisen, indem er weiterhin nicht raucht. Dann wäre das Zwinkern auch eher eine Versicherung, dass es nur als spielerischer Ansporn und nicht als tatsächliche Bedingung für die WG gemeint ist.

Das macht allerdings nur Sinn, wenn Leo es für absolut offensichtlich hält, dass Adam jederzeit bei ihm einziehen darf xD

vielleicht kannst du mir die Frage beantworten?

In EDN fragt Esther Adam und Leo warum sie keine WG zusammen machen und Leo sagt warum es nicht ginge und zwinkert dabei.

Warum zwinkert er dabei? Denkst du er hat es ernst gemeint? Denke Leo würde Adam doch helfen wenn dieser hilfe braucht oder nicht?

Oder denkt Leo, dass Adam das sowiso nicht will und hat daher das gesagt?

Wäre schon cool, wenn die beiden eine WG haben. Vielleicht nächste Folge? Vielleicht sieht man auch Leos Schwestern?

Sehr spannende Fragen (bitte nicht entschuldigen dafür, ich mags sehr gerne) und WELCOME TO MY TED TALK! 😁

Ich hatte die Frage jüngst schonmal diskutiert und habe folgende Vermutung dazu:

Die Ausgangssituation:

Adam ist seit einer gewissen, nicht näher definierten Zeit Nichtraucher. Das weiß Leo, denn er spricht Adam kurz vor der Verfolgungsszene mit Celik aktiv darauf an ("Hast du nicht aufgehört zu rauchen?").

Dann fragt Esther, was denn mit einer WG wäre und Leo sagt, dass es niemals funktionieren würde, weil er Nichtraucher ist. Adams Gesichtskirmes ist ungefähr so:

....und er guckt Leo noch hinterher.

Leos Gesicht auch auch eine Gesichtskirmes und er zwinkert:

während er das sagt und verabschiedet sich, ohne eine Antwort abzuwarten, dann aus dem Büro (man könnte es auch Flucht nennen).

Im Umkehrschluss würde es aber bedeuten, dass es unter zwei Voraussetzungen funktionieren würde:

Leo wird Raucher oder

Adam wird Nichtraucher

Adam ist zu dem Zeitpunkt Nichtraucher, also ist das, was Leo in meinen Augen eigentlich sagt: "Alles klar, wenn es so bleibt, dann würde es funktionieren."

"Eine eher unschönere Variante wäre, dass er Adam keinen Credit dafür gäbe, dass er das Nichtrauchen durchhält.)

Was es auch ist, von allen Gründen, die Leo aufführen könnte, ist es einzig und alleine das Rauchen. Nicht, dass sie nicht so kompatibel wären oder dass er Adam nicht in seiner Nähe haben möchte...

Ich denke auch, dass Leo Adam hier verklausuliert zu verstehen gibt, dass es funktionieren würde und dass er deswegen zwinkert. Adam hingegen wirkt verletzt dadurch und ich glaube, das ist wieder so ein Kommunikationsding zwischen den Beiden. Trotz seines recht (wie ich finde) schnippischen "Och" auf Adams "ich ziehe aus" würde er ihn nicht hängen lassen. Wenn Leo erstmal seine Angst davor überwindet, dass Adam wieder geht und ihn alleine lässt, was glaube ich bei dem "Och?" auch mit reinspielt.

Vielleicht aber gabs es eine ähnliche Diskussion nach HdS schonmal zwischen den Beiden. Vielleicht hat Leo Adam da angeboten, bei ihm einzuziehen und Adam hat ihm gesagt, dass es niemals funktionieren würde, weil er Raucher wäre.

Zumal ich ja meine Finger kreuze für eine mögliche WG im nächsten Teil...also dass Adam sich einfach bei Leo einquartiert um ihm helfen zu können. Und um Leo zu antagonisieren, der vielleicht gar nicht mehr so viel dagegen hat, dass Adam bei ihm wohnt.

Leos drei kleine Schwestern wären schon cool, ja! da habe ich ja so ein bisschen den HC, dass sie immer auf ihren großen Bruder aufgepasst haben und dass sie, als Adam weg war, die bösen Jungs vermöbelt haben.

Was denkst du denn?

ok aber es trifft mich immer wieder wie gut adam einfach in seinem inneren ist. ja er ist abweisend und schroff und manchmal, gelegentlich, oft, nen arschloch und dann nimmt er leos präsenz in seinem leben wieder viel zu selbstverständlich ABER- aber. seine mutter wirft ihm schreckliche dinge an den kopf, dass er wie sein vater sei obwohl er aktiv versucht das genaue gegenteil zu sein, und dass er wiedergekommen ist wegen ihr obwohl sie seine ganze kindheit passiv zugesehen hat wie sein vater ihn gequält hat, aber die sekunde in der sie zusammenzuckt als er auf sie zugeht- dann schreit er sie nicht an, oder sonst was.

er küsst sie auf die stirn. er sagt 'hab dich lieb'. er ist sanft. er hat es wochen, monate in dem bunker ausgehalten damit sie nicht allein ist.

er tanzt mit pia in einem brunnen walzer weil er nicht weiß wann sie das letzte mal ne nacht durchgeschlafen hat und sie weiß es wahrscheinlich auch nicht mehr. er teilt gummibärchen und glückskekse mit ihr und macht sich zum deppen weil er sie das erste mal seit ner weile wieder richtig lachen gehört hat. er beantwortet ihre fragen, so gut es geht. obwohl er nicht weiß warum sie fragt. obwohl es weh tut an die vergangenheit zu denken.

er versucht so sehr gut zu sein und nicht wie sein vater und er will menschen beschützen nicht zerstören und er will alles richtig machen und jedes mal enttäuscht er wieder irgendwen oder bringt die anderen in gefahr. aber er will gut sein, so offensichtlich und erbärmlich, dass es wahrscheinlich fett auf seiner stirn geschrieben steht. und dabei merkt er nicht dass er es schon die ganze zeit ist. sorry. sorry.
