The Two Jay's
Both Jay's are incomplete without the other half. Neither of them are the "Real Jay" so to speak. Neither of them can do spinjitzu either.
Rouge: Long term memory loss half
Jay the man himself still ends up missing and working in the Administration just like in canon, with the whole amnesia and altered identity (and identity crisises) bits along with his later alter ego of Rouge. Not much is to be changed (yet because this au is still new and I might come up with more stuff later down the line)
He still has his element of Lightning, muscle memory, humor and all that jazz!!
He... he doesn't like the other Jay...
Speaking of the 2nd Jay! Ooooh boy where do I even start...
Nimbus: Short term memory loss half
Initially 2nd Jay was just going to be Jay's memories manifested/shaped into a little yellow energy sphere like Bonzle. He was just going to be floating around the LoLT as memories like a film roll. At least until Canon Jay actually overcame his amnesia on his own or with help.
That is, until Cole followed Wu across said Land of Lost Things. And found Jay's memories nearby [S3P2 Redacted Spoilers] in DR Season 1 (after Nya split off with the Dragon Core)
You can control what memories you can see through the yellow sphere by just gently tapping or swipping across it like a hologram. Cole wasn't aware he could do this (Cole just let the memories randomly play out on their own) but once he did, he was very cautious in not peeking.
Eventually though, someway somehow (I'm leaning towards Bonzle using her own powerful magic energy) Jay's memories ended up developing self awareness and physically changed into a more humanoid body! (Like Bonzle!)
2nd Jay is a mix of a skeleton with storm-like elements mixed in as if he's semisolid (which is partially why he is nicknamed Nimbus)
The tricky part however is the fact that 2nd Jay aka Nimbus, can't retain new memories, no mqtter how hard he tries! So imagine his surprise when he becomes self aware and forms into a body that's not his own OR human at all! (He -logically- ends up Freaking Out)
This frustrates both Nimbus Jay and the people around him, especially when Nimbus Jay wants to help out the others during the DR plot events.
Nimbus Jay can only talk via words that he has said in his past memories, and forms new sentences that he hasn't said before by stiching past words together(like Bumblebee in the movies). Eventually he might learn Sign Language to help him better communicate as well
While 2nd Jay/Nimbus doesn't have the element of Lightning, his retained early memories still allows him to fight with his ninja skills if needed!

So!! I've been a Ninjago fan ever since the Pilots first dropped into existence, but the fact that it took me over 10 years to create an AU of said fandom is surprising even to me.
Regardless!! One of these said AU's that I've been slowly putting together is what I'm currently calling DR: Storm in my Bones AU.
A what if au in which Jay is technically and magically split into two people, where in one half is trying desperately to merge back into one person again whereas the other half is our canon Rouge lad!!
In other words- If Cole ended up in a place that was named the Land of LOST Things and Jay LOST his own memories; what if Jay's memories ended up landing in the Land of Lost Things and took the form of a semisolid sphere just like Bonzle?

You know what, let's take a shot at it
Ninjago Power Swap Hot Takes: ??th Edition
Lloyd -> Ice
Zane -> Fire
Kai -> Earth
Cole -> Lightning
Jay -> Water
Nya -> Energy
I would say that this swap takes place between March of the Oni and Secrets of Forbidden Spinjitzu (maaaybe even diverted the entire season 11. Not sure yet)
Lloyd
Can feeze multiple enemies/foes at once due to wider range attacks
Keeps accidentally freezing himself to the floor when distracted. Can also accidentally freeze others as well
He is cold? Human side says he needs warmth, but his Oni side thrives in it. Dragon side is still on the jury on that one. Let's just say Lloyd feels that weird cold but not cold at the same time feeling that you get whenever you eat a minty fresh mint
He ends up getting a very early lesson on focusing on finding calmness within himself when he can not find calm around himself to control said Ice Element.
Zane
Instead of helping out the others as the designated Ice Pack of the group, he is now temporarily the Heat Pack of the group. He also gives outnreally nice and warm hugs!!
Do NOT let this boy overthink or get overwhelmed or be Over-ANYTHING. Zane will end up overheating like a 15 year old laptop on its last battery life.
This also includes Zane over using the Fire Element, given that his Power Core has adapted more to hisnOce Element than Kai's Fire
In the meantime, Zane is given extra venting for his systems to coolnoff faster. He also asked to be given rocket feet for the fun of it (Like Astro Boy)
Zane can now make dinners on the go
Zane also ends up needing to get emotional therapy in order to control said Fire Element. No more ignoring the multiple fake outs or trying to turn off his emotion switch. He is going to process through all of that as healthy as he can in order to be able to control the passionate driven Fire Element.
Kai
The Earth Element accidentally ends up making Kai more stubborn than usual at the most random and/or inconvenient times
Has zero control of his new superstrength. He is either a floppy noodle or an indestructible tank. There is no in between and the others are resigned to have all the necessary doors in the Monastery open for Kai
Accidentally activates a small version of Cole's lava arms, except for Kai it's just up to his hands. Instead of it giving him MORE superstrength it makes his fists extremely hot, which is what he's most comfortable with utilizing to be honest when fighting bad guys (it's the closest to fire for him)
The earth shakes whenever Kai stomps too hard or lands from a jump/etc
Kai, determined to get the hang of the earth element in order to be able to protect his family, manages to make said element listen to him in record time.
I just had the thought in my head of everyone trying to practice their swapped elements, meanwhile Kai just flopped himself to the ground resigned. He'd be all like "Listen, I'm not used to you (earth) and you don't recognize me as Cole. That's fair, but for all it's worth, it's only temporary. I just need us to cooperate until we all get switched back to normal so that we can protect our family" (and then the element becomes slightly easier to handle)
Kai tries to be the human shield for the team (much to their frustration)
Cole
Either has too much energy or can not build up energy, take your pick
Too much lightning energy makes Cole very fidgety and he needs to find something to do to work off said energy
Remember how in Season 2 Jay could fly and zap through electronics? Yeah, Cole can now do that as well
Zapping through electronics takes a lot of practice, both for reaching the target destination and trying to not fry said electronics he's zapping through
Turning into nearly full lightning to fly saps away all of Cole's energy, which he sometimes does whenever he wants a break from too much pent up energy (especially when he wants to sleep)
This, however, brings the risk of accidentally releasing a massive shockwave of force and lighting.
Another effect is the "Can not build up energy" half of the 1st bullet point. Cole is at a negative number of energy right now, and until his energy gets past zero and to the positives, he can't even bring out a spark. (Works great for a full night's of rest, not great if they're in the middle of a mission)
Keeps forgetting he doesn't have superstrength anymore
He's actually faster now, which throws him off and takes him a while to get used to as his new fighting style
Really, it's about finding balance in the Lightning, and Cole is an expert in finding balance
Jay
Initially freaking out about their elements swapping causes Jay to lose control over the water element Seabound style. He can not be anywhere near water without an incident
Jay considers taking a break to visit his parents in the Sea of Sands for both his and the other's sake and well being
Jay definitely gets his inventors' spark back to help him control water, given that inventing new things is all about experimenting and building on previous failures/experiences (Given that what was holding Nya back was being afraid to fail?? I might change this)
???
Water is kinda like lightning? But in reverse? Lightning is energy that Jay directs himself to a designated target or goal. Water tends to do most of the direction itself while this time Jay is the one in charge of giving it the amount of energy he needs it to have. (I think)
Whenever Jay gets worked up any surrounding water gets whipped about like water serpents trying to seek what the source of distress is in order to Take It Out
Catch Jay riding a small wave on land like the pokemon move surf
Jay gets pretty creative with said water. Sometimes, he'll summon a wave to ride on, or summon water tentacles surrounding him, other times they're just water ballons but without the balloons!! Water is so fluid!!
Jay, unfortunately does get dehydrated pretty fast from all the water summoning, which he now realises is why Nya tends to control water from her surroundings instead of summoning like the others do with their elements
Nya
Nya has a hard time even getting to tap into the Energy element. While the others are struggling in reigning in their swapped elements, Nya can't even sense Energy. Which frustrates her to no end, but this she is NOT going to give up until she gets it down
Once Nya does summon energy, it's a LOT to take in. Not only is it Energy that she has to deal with, but also the connections it has to the LIFE elements as well
The Energy element gets affected with her mood, depending on which one she is in a different LIFE element tends to flare out of control for a moment
Not to mention that the connection with the LIFE elements allows Nya to discover that she can locate said elements like sonar
However it also has the side effect of Nya being drawn to the LIFE elements, so she's constantly hanging around one of the 4 users, and at one point summoned everyone to one spot to relax so that she can make the magnetic pull calm down
Nya can super charge someone else's element like a super battery. Not great at the beginning when everything is out of control, but nice when they get the hang of things
Nya can ALSO drain energy from the others. This has two versions.
The 1st one is where Nya drains their energy connected to their elements, causing them to temporarily be unable to summon their element(s)
The 2nd one is where Nya drains the person's own energy, causing them to become faituiged and even needing to sleep it off depending on how severe it is
Nya can use energy blasts!

Ship's Ahoy!
Warnings: Currently, none, but please suggest if you see any
Major Spoilers from Mario and Luigi Brothership
The first thing that came to him in the empty void of unconsciousness was his hearing. There was a strong breeze, along with a steady splash that took him a moment to clock as waves. The second sense, touch, made him aware that he was laying on something grainy.
With a groan, he opened his eyes. There was the blue sky, sand and waves, along with cute little red guys scuttling about. A beach.
Impulse groaned again as he sat up from his uncomfortable position, his body sore.
“Huh….?” What happened? Why was he here of all places? Alone? Where was everyone else?
“Hello!?” Impulse called out, finally standing up on wobbly legs, “Anybody here?! Gem?! Etho, Tango!! Grian?! Skizz?!!”
There wasn't anything but an echo, the beach and his scrambled bearings. Impulse sighed and paced across the beach, pulling out his com to try and maybe reach out with chat. Except, for some reason, it wouldn't turn on. Great.
“Ok, think Impulse. You're all alone on an island like a cheesy pirate movie, with…” he checked his shorts pockets, “...nothing in your inventory- fantastic. What was the last thing you remembered before you got knocked out? Did I get knocked out? Or are we doing a new chall- Ack!!”
He jumped and scrambled to hide. Staying quiet to not get spotted by the big, massive, pink, pterodactyl looking bird flying over the sky, screeching a loud caw.
He watched it soar over him, turning around to spot some kind of uphill path, leading up to a flourishing forest area. Well- whether he's going to be looking for a familiar face or stay stuck here, he might as well go back to the basics and start gathering resources before mobs, both old and new apparently, start spawning at night.
He sprang to his feet and rushed across the path, skipping away from some seed plant looking creatures and across a few ditches in the ground. He couldn't help but wonder what had brought him here. The last things he can remember before waking up were in pieces. He and the others were doing another session of WildLife, the winner within sight. Then Impulse lost his final red life, but he was still there for some reason? And then… he wasn't sure.
Impulse sighed, coming across huge boulders blocking the path in front of him, but there was still more upwards. Climbing to the top, he cupped his hands,
“Hellooo?! Jimmy! Scar! Grian!!” No answer yet… With a huff, he punched a tree, but barely got anything out of it except a few cracks.
“What…? What're we in, adventure mode? Augh, c'mon man. I just wanna know what's going on!” Impulse thunk his head on the tree. Just his luck. More walking then. Might try to see if he could spot anything or anyone familiar along the way…
Impulse
He shot up his head, “Hello?”
Dippledop
Skizz?
Impulse sprinted over the hilltop. That had to be Skizz he just heard. It had to be! There was no one else- “Skizz?! Skizz! Where are you?!”
Impulse…!
He stopped on his tracks, noticing the edge of a cliff ahead of him. Kneeling for air, he took a deep breath, and shouted over the ocean “SKIZZ!!! SKIZZLEMAN!!”
“Impulse…!” Impulse turned where the shout came from, and was nearly taken aback by the giant floating island- that looked like a ship- floating its way towards the ledge he was standing on. And on that same ship island, was the most familiar person in a sleeveless suit waving at him.
“Impulse!!” Impulse gasped. The ship was getting closer, but it wasn't slowing. He was going to have to jump for it. He backed away a few paces, taking a deep breath and focused. Of all the times in the world, in his life, now would be one of the best for all that MCC parkour training to come into use, and not whiff it.
“Skizz!! I'm coming!!” He shouted, and with one last deep breath, timing it just as the ship was nearing, Impulse started sprinting at full speed. With one, big, leap into the air at the last second, he soared across the water right towards the edge of the passing ship island. He was going to just make it-
His feet hit the dirt, he pinwheeled his arms at the awkward angle he landed, but the ground beneath him still crumbled away, and he was falling. No-!! He scrambled for something to grip with and just as his hand slipped away, a second, familiar scarred hand gripped his own.
“I gotcha brother!!” Impulse heard him say, he looked up and his eyes confirmed what he was seeing was really true.
“Skizz!” Impulse laughed, his grin true as Skizz helped him up onto the island. With a pull and a grunt, they landed on their backs. They both sighed, exhausted but relieved. Impulse then couldn't help himself and started chuckling. What were the odds? Skizz turned, confused by Impulse's reaction, but the relief he saw on his best friend's face, made him also laugh along with him. Once they sat up, Skizz couldn't help himself and pulled Impulse into a hug.
“Dude!! You're insane!” Skizz laughed, “That was definitely more than a 5 block jump! Ten blocks at the least, and you just went for it!”
“If there was any time or place for the near impossible, it was then,” Impulse said, hugging Skizz back, “Dude, how did you end up on a floating island that's a ship?! And find me!!”
“Honestly dude, there was no better perfect timing,” Skizz chuckled letting the hug go. He smiled brightly, “If there was any time or place for the near impossible, it was then, hehe!”
“My line…” Impulse teased, punching his arm, Skizz bopped his head back. They both laughed, relieved to see a familiar face.
“No but honestly, I have no idea. I just happened to wake up on a bed, met this sweet girl named Connie and her pal, Snotlout was it?” Skizz shrugged, pointing to the side where Impulse noticed the huge mast looking… tree?... “And they tried to explain to me that this is Shipshape island. I apparently fell from the sky when they steered the island just in time so the big tree would break my fall.”
“Oh geez,” Impulse winced at the explanation, “You didn't happen to have any ender pearls or golden apples in your inventory did you?”
“Nah, inventory was empty,” Skizz stood up and Impulse did the same, finally rested, “But the bed along with some snacks helped patch me up good as new. Oh dude! I should go take you to them so you can meet them! They're really awesome, and they know about this island like the back of their heads!!”
Impulse nodded. Getting some information about this world was a good idea. From the looks of things, they didn't start a new season of Naked and Scared, given that Skizz seemed to be in the dark as much as him. Also, Connie and Snot? He can't say he's met anyone with those names, so this is definitely new territory for the both of them. Not to mention, is it just him and Skizz? Or are more of their friends in the same world? And if they are, are they just as scattered throughout more islands, lost and confused as he was?
He wasn't sure himself, but they were about to find out.

...And that's the first chapter for my [Mario and Luigi: Brothership/3rd Life] AU, Fellowship AU!!
Ngl I pulled this all together in one go at midnight, but I like what I have so far enough to share yet another au!!

Hear me out, Guess the Build Borrowers AU
Everyone in the group are all borrowers living in an apartment complex
Impulse and Skizz have been Best Friends since they were kids, while Jimmy, Grian and Joel call themselves The Bad Boys
The catch is that the two groups don't exactly like each other very much. They see someone from the other group, and it's like two neighbors that get into fights with each other all the time.
Then Gem, also a borrower, moves in and can not deal with the drama these two groups have with each other. So, on Christmas Eve, she formulated a plan to make them meet up and talk to each other about the issues.
With a Christmas Miracle, it works, and by Christmas Morning, the two groups end up becoming one big found family group of Borrowers
