I'm dying my hair green and purple this month, right? purple near the ends, and my mom comes home from work and shows me these earrings she was gifted at her job, green gem on top, purple gem on the bottom. It's a sign that this will be the hair color combination I've been looking for, I can feel it in my soul chat...

being guided and backed up on my new path by my ancestors is a really weird experience..? They gave me the building blocks, the foundation I needed to excel, and they were very clear on what I needed to do.
But it's like, I can feel them just waiting for me to get started? There's been a constant pressure in my head, and I just know it'll go away if I just start taking the steps towards my practice instead of just .. not doing it? It's like their saying I will do this and it'll be good for me. and it will! a lot of it includes confidence building, it's just like? so silly how much of an impact asking your ancestors for help can have on you. Like they have my back and are pushing me to succeed, and I don't even know them yet.
They don't even have an altar, and I feel so bad, but that was my first time ever talking to them, but I'll have to give them an offering for like? Telling me to get my shit together and apply myself

Non-Deity Practices!
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──
The Gods are obviously the more talked about part of polytheist circles, but there are some other things that you can include in your practice. This is by no means a comprehensive list of everything you can do, or even the only definition of these things. Just some ideas for expanding your practice.
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──
Ancestor Veneration
-Leave offerings for those who came before you! Pay your respects and ask for their wisdom. For my practice, I sometimes make a cup of coffee for my late grandmother! Something simple but meaningful to her.
Hero Worship
-This is more akin to veneration than worship for many people. It's similar to ancestor veneration but for individuals in history and mythology that are considered important to one's religious beliefs. (Kind of a fast and loose definition since there's a lot of variety in this type of worship).
Hospitality
-More up to interpretation, but some pagan religions put emphasis on being hospitable and also involved in your community. For me, this means volunteer work, helping my neighbors, and being welcoming in my home.
Local Flora and Fauna
-Research your home! Learn the animals, the weather, when the flowers bloom. Involve yourself with your natural world. This is especially useful if you want to base your calendar or offerings/Rituals around the seasons and such.
Local Spirits
-Deities get a lot of attention, but don't leave out the spirits of the land and your home. Leave out a bite of your snack or a glass of water. (If leaving stuff outside, make sure it won't hurt any animals that get into it).

✧ how to reinvent yourself without deleting everything this summer ✧

hey lovelies!! WELCOME TO SUMMER! so i've been obsessing over this idea of reinvention lately... like literally woke up at 3am last night to jot down notes in my phone because my brain wouldn't stop thinking about it?? summer always feels like this dreamy little pocket of time where anything is possible... where you can try on different versions of yourself between iced matcha lattes and sunset walks.
i know we've all been there... that moment when you're scrolling through pinterest at midnight and suddenly you're like "what if i just... became someone else??" (guilty of creating entire secret boards dedicated to my "french girl era" that never actually happened lmao). but the thing is, completely starting over is exhausting?? and honestly kind of impossible unless you're in a witness protection program??
so this post is for my girls who want that reinvention feeling without the whole dramatic disappearing act. because honestly? the you that exists right now is already pretty magical, we're just gonna help her shine in some new ways.
✧ why gentle reinvention just hits different ✧
i had this realization while reorganizing my bookshelf last week (yes, for the third time this month, don't judge me) the most interesting characters aren't the ones who completely transform overnight. they're the ones who slowly evolve, keeping their essence while discovering new facets of themselves.
like, remember in "emma" when she realizes she's been in love with mr. knightley the whole time?? she didn't become a different person, she just finally understood something that was already there. that's the kind of reinvention i'm talking about: the recognition, not rejection, of who you are.
✧ actually magical reinvention tips that feel like character development ✧
digital presence evolution (without the cringe factor)
• create a finsta where you post the aesthetic you're curious about but not ready to commit to (mine started as dark academia but somehow evolved into cottagecore with a side of astrology memes??)
• change your social media bios to describe who you're becoming, not who you've been
• make an email signature that makes you feel like the main character (mine has a tiny moon emoji that literally no one has commented on but makes me happy every time)
• curate a new spotify playlist with songs that feel like your "becoming" soundtrack (tip: add one new song every morning as a little ritual)
• start ending your texts with a new sign-off or emoji (i switched from "x" to "✨" and now my friends get worried if i don't include the sparkle)
• take selfies from a completely different angle than your usual (overhead instead of straight-on changed my LIFE)
tiny identity shifts that nobody notices but YOU
• give a slightly different name at starbucks, not completely different, just a variation that feels like an alter ego (i use "amelia" which is my middle name and it feels like slipping into another dimension for 5 minutes)
• create a secret signature scent combination by layering two perfumes you already own (vanilla + something citrusy has main character energy, trust me)
• change your handwriting slightly, make your y's loopier or dot your i's differently (sounds so minor but feels so intentional)
• develop a subtle personal symbol and incorporate it places only you would notice (i draw tiny stars on the corners of important journal pages)
• start carrying something unexpected in your bag that represents your new era (i have a tiny rose quartz crystal that literally no one knows about)
• choose a "power color" you don't usually wear and incorporate it somewhere small every day (even just as a hair tie or phone background)
space magic that costs zero dollars
• rearrange your room based on the energy you want to create (bed facing the window changed my sleep quality so much??)
• create a tiny altar/intention space somewhere private with objects that represent who you're becoming
• switch up where you do everyday activities (i started doing my skincare routine by the window instead of the bathroom and it feels like a whole spa moment)
• change the scent of your space. different candles, incense, or even just boiling cinnamon sticks on the stove
• put up photos from a completely different phase of your life than what you usually display
• rearrange your books by color or theme instead of author (my shelf organized by "books that made me cry" vs "books that changed my mind" feels so personal)
• sleep on the opposite side of the bed or with your head where your feet usually go (literally changes your dreams, i swear)
style whispers that feel like screams
• start wearing your hair in a completely new way just one day a week (slicked back bun on tuesdays has become apart of my routine)
• change where you wear your everyday jewelry. ankle bracelet instead of wrist, rings on different fingers
• try "dopamine dressing" where you wear something purely because the color makes you happy, not because it "goes" with anything
• experiment with makeup placement rather than buying new products (blush higher on cheekbones or across nose bridge instead of apples of cheeks feels revolutionary)
• wear the "special occasion" clothes on random weekdays
• try to add one unexpected accessory to elevate basic outfits (a silky scarf tied on your bag handle)
• match your nail color to your current emotional goal rather than your outfit (blues for calm, reds for confidence)
routine alchemy that changes everything
• take a completely different route home, even if it's longer
• switch when you shower AND the temperature (night showers ending with 30 seconds of cold water changed my sleep quality)
• read the last page of a book first before starting it (chaotic energy but changes how you perceive the story)
• change where you sit in every familiar setting... different spot on the couch, different chair at the dining table
• set alarms for weird specific times (9:43 instead of 9:45) so you actually notice them
relationship refreshers that feel magical
• respond to texts with voice memos if you usually type (this transformed my friendship with my long-distance bestie)
• ask people completely different questions than usual ("what made you smile today?" instead of "how was your day?")
• suggest a different type of hangout than your usual (art gallery instead of coffee shop, sunrise instead of brunch)
• share something slightly vulnerable if you're usually private (i told my friend about my secret passion for astrology and now we have the best conversations about it)
• write actual handwritten notes to people instead of texting
• create little rituals with friends that feel special
• be the first to suggest plans if you usually wait for others (this tiny shift literally expanded my social circle overnight)
mindset magic that costs nothing
• choose a new word to eliminate from your vocabulary (i stopped saying "sorry" before asking questions)
• pick a new word to deliberately use more (i've been using "delightful" instead of "cool" and it makes ordinary things feel magical)
• create a secret personal holiday that only you celebrate (i have "manuscript monday" where i work on my secret novel for just 20 minutes)
• start a collection of something weird and specific (i collect interesting sugar packets from cafes and it makes every coffee shop visit feel like a treasure hunt + i get to discover new food brands).
i literally started taking a different route to my morning coffee last month and ended up discovering this tiny bookstore that's now my favorite place?? sometimes the smallest detours lead to the biggest discoveries.
the most interesting people aren't completely different versions of themselves every season. they're just constantly evolving.
xoxo, mindy 🤍
p.s. make sure to rest this summer, you're gonna need it <3

Simple Affirmations
I am a uni student, and a handful of these will be around the fact that I am in uni.
Where's my gorgeous face? - Checking for my campus card
There they are! - finding it, successfully.
A simple hello whenever you pass a mirror
Use your gorgeous head - replaces stupid
She (my body) would love a salad actually - Trying to eat healthier, and I refer to my body as she, because shes cute and deserves all the love and attention in the world.
Referring to your body by a pronoun - sounds cringe but it can help with body positivity
ex. Oh, she would look so cute in this. it replaces the 'I really like this but I won't look good in it' You will! your body can wear anything! acknowledge that
Oh, I'm so cool - after accomplishing something. I get so hyped. I literally clap and go 'YES oh im the greatest. That's what's up, I did that'
It's cause im pretty? - I love saying this to friends whenever things go my way. helps my self-confidence and compliments
Oh, im going to be rich - scoring high on an assignment. Manfiest it and it will come true.
This is some 'brainrot' ones only because they really do help me personally. all things I've said to myself (it's actually just two things... but hey)
I'm fine, shyt, oh my god. Look at me - after putting on clothes and showing it off to my love
I'm giving 6'5" nonchalant dreadhead - When I keep my cool, and it makes me feel really cool afterward
Many of these were really, informal. But they work! 'I am' doesn't work for me. it's a struggle to stand in the mirror and actually having to think of something nice to say. But, if I just make it into simple conversation, like talking to a photo of myself! 'ohhh, im so fine right here, oh my god.' That's an affirmation. That is self-love. I am not going 'I am hot, beautiful, amazing' that sounds so fake. It lacks the actual emotion and intention behind the affirmation in the first place.
Songs!
These are songs that work for ME. These might not work for you
Self Love. - Metro Boomin
Affirmation - ByHaze (I love singing this)
444 - Gayathri Krishnan
I Like Me - ByHaze
Holding Space - Mayyadda
Self Love - Jayson Lyric

Alternatives to incense
Wether you are a closeted witch or simply cannot light incense for any reason, you can use substitues that are fairly cheap if not completely free.
Here's a little list what I use instead of incense and what I use it for:
Candles. Great for offerings and for setting the mood before a ritual
Perfume. Good for cleansing purposes instead of incense smoke but be careful if you want to use it with crystals because it might ruin them. You can also get a perfume exclusively for your magic work or specific perfumes for your deities
Perfume tester stripes. They are a great gift for deities and don't require you to spend any money
Music. If you need to cleanse something you can substitute incense with cleansing music
Air humidifiers. You can add some drops scented oils to the water and use the steam instead of the smoke of incense
Hope this is helpful. And if you have any other alternatives that I haven't listed feel free to share

trying to scam anybody who is a baby witch or just trying to LEARN information is disgusting. I 100% put blame on those tarot live streams on tiktok, those Etsy witches, and those tiktok witches selling those shadow work books for a quick buck.
Hot take I know,
If I have to pay you money, to learn anything about magic or spirits. Then i genuinely do not care what you have to say. If I can’t hypothetically access this information through a public library then it’s genuinely not something I care about. When your “secrets” from the gods is behind a 12, 30, 100 dollar paywall, I am just going to assume it’s not worth my time, OR worse you are a scammer.
Anyone can talk to spirits, anyone can learn tarot, anyone can pick up a book on the celts, galls, Roman’s, Greeks etc. Anything special about us, is a shared specialness,
No Singular person, is more spiritual, more ‘awakened’ and/or more magical than any other.

Being spiritual is not an aesthetic.
It is not wearing headwraps.
It is not wearing clothes from earthbound or thrifting.
It is not wearing waist beads.
Being earthy is not spirituality.
Spirituality can not be defined by a clear-cut definition when everyone walks a different path on it, but it is not a trend, nor is it an aesthetic to wear.

Veiling for the Lazy,
Now, I want to veil to cover the crown of my head, the highest point for purely spiritual reasons.
Now, here's the thing, I am lazy. I don't have the energy to do a full headwrap, I am also not Muslim nor modest dressing in any way. The Christian laced veil defeats the whole purpose in my mind? and I'm also not Christian. So that left me thinking... how do I veil?
Veiling does not need to be elaborate
You do not need this elaborate reason for wanting to veil. If you want to, that's enough reason! So, I come bearing four cost friendly and easy accesible options that are also lowkey if you are in the broom closet or just not ready to let anybody know!
Hats
They are simple. They are cute. They come in many sizes, colors, and can match any outfit. This is the most undercover option there is. It's the safest. Hats are everywhere. Dollar store, thrift shops, online. It is impossible not to find a hat in a store. And it's also the most versatile option out of them all? It's so simple. Break the veiling mold. Go wear hats to match your outfits. And since I only want to cover the top of my head, it's perfect for me. And I love a good summer hat..
Head scarves
This one is a bit more obvious if you want to keep the down low profile.. but it has many different versatile styles for it. and the patterns? the colors? oh, there are so many options for this. And MANY are silk, so it won't ruin your hair, and it is a very good protective option. It's also cheap, and you can buy in bulk online or go to a beauty shop and find SO many options. I think 5 below and the dollar store even have some, but let's not quote me on that.. now is this perfect for me? I want something i can do in a minute or less.. and for some, this is a perfect option! not quite for me!
Durags
Very simple, cost efficient. Not many ways of styling, but it comes in so many colors! This is also a good down low option for veiling. It's cheap, can be found almost everywhere, and nobody will really question or blink an eye at wearing it in public.
Bandanas
This is very cute, low effort, extremely down low. You can crochet some, handsew, go to the dollar store, its cost efficient, upcycling friendly too! Turn old shirts into bandanas. Tye dye! And you can wear it and a few different styles too! Perfect for any season, any gender, covers the crown of the head perfectly.
Veiling doesn't need to be hard
Literally, I think this broke down some stigma around what I viewed and how others talked about veiling. How they had to work up to it, had to ask spirits, deities, it seemed like I had to do those same steps if I wanted to be respectful.. to who? If you once again, want to veil, just do it. Nobody should stop you even if you aren't out. Your financial situation shouldn't stop you. Once again, you can search up how to cut a bandana and light the ends so it doesn't fray, free bandana.
So now, I don't really have an excuse on why I'm not veiling, I'll definitely try out the options that I have at home, and as someone that crochets and knits, bandanas are a quick way to use up small bundles of yarn on.
Also! Are there any other ways people veil? I heard of using hoodies, but that's not exactly a year round.. solution?

just a PSA to ALWAYS RESEARCH HERBS/PLANTS BEFORE PUTTING THEM IN YOUR BODY
did you know that st john's wort can induce serotonin syndrome? which is life threatening (and very painful!!) btw
did you know that red raspberry leaf can worsen hormonal imbalances and irregular menstrual cycles?
did you know that ginger (yes!! that ginger!! the one that's in every other tea recipe out there!!) can thin your blood? which can be life threatening for people with certain conditions
and there's so much more this community as a whole should be aware of, especially when considering herbs to consume or apply to the skin
the resource i use most often is just this wikipedia article, although you should do individual research just to double check
i don't make this post to try to induce widespread fear of herbal remedies/a good ol herbal tea now and then, im just saying that not everything natural is good for you, and sometimes modern medicine is right. always consider consulting a physician before self-medicating or trying potentially harmful substances

nature is not just ‘the outdoors.’ it’s literally the air you breathe, the food you eat, and the water that cleans you. put more respect on mother goddamn nature’s name!!!!!
sick and tired of seeing this discourse about ‘is she an actual deity?’ bro look around and you’ll find your answer.
sincerely, a fed up nature witch.

My (not really) Guide to Herbs,
Every herb you hear about, learn about. All have specific and different properties that were used in many holistic approaches, and before medicine was easily accessible.
Learning the properties is very essential to even touching herbs. It's important to note that not every herb can be good for you. Disinformation is readily accessible with using the wrong image or name of an herb.
Foraging
Never. Forage. Without. Doing. Extensive. Research.
Pick up foraging books, take classes, ask foragers in your community, learn how to feel safe in the woods, and how to protect yourself. Foraging is VERY different than just buying herbs in stores or from trusted online shops. If someone tells you 'foraging is easier', it's because it's easier for them. That's their path, and if your path is just buying herbs from the dollar store, who cares. It's about accessibility in your practice.
Medicinal herbs
Yes, knowing how herbs are used in witchcraft is well, essential. But let's not forget some of the other properties it can have. Now, what exactly IS herbal medicine?
Medicinal herbs are plant-based products used to maintain health or prevent diseases. This can also be called herbal supplements, and these come in many different forms.
dried up
powder
chopped
capsule
liquid
But, how do I use them in these ways outside of spells?
Swallowing the pills, powder, or liquid
Brewing as tea
Used as skin gels, lotion, or cream
Bath water
CAUTION !!!!!
I am by no means someone who is in medical school. Please do your own further research into herbal supplements, especially if this is for consumption. If you ARE buying supplements, know that many of these are not looked at more thoroughly through the FDA because they are plants.
HERBS
Just a few of the common ones.
Chamomile (Flower)
Used to help with anxiety and relaxation.
Most commonly used in tea.
Garlic (Cloves, root)
Used to help fight germs, protect your heart, and reduce inflammation.
Most commonly used in cooking.
Ginger (Root)
Used to help easing nausea and motion sickness.
Most commonly used in cooking.
Lavender (shrub)
Used to help treating insect bites and burns, cleaning wounds, promoting sleep, improving memory, relieving pain, and uplifting mood.
Most commonly used in perfume, tea, and essential oil.
Rose Petals (flower)
Used to help digestion, contain pain relieving properties, and supporting a positive mood
Most commonly used in tea, skincare, bath soaks, face masks, candles, and cooking.
Kiwi Fruit Powder (fruit)
Used to help maintain a healthy skin tone, digestion, boosts immunity, and contains essential nutrients like vitamin C and potassium.
Most commonly used in cooking and drinks.
Okay, but why? is this important.
Many of us believe in the properties that herbs can have in spells and spirituality. It's also important to learn the other ways that these herbs you use in spirituality can have on your own body. Why not make a healing tea? A balm or lotion with protection and medicinal properties in it?
I don't believe in limiting my knowledge to only one use. If theres many uses to one thing, why not use it for two things at once? I'm having bad anxiety? Let me use Chamoile for that and Rosemary for protection. I'd be targeting the physical and spiritual manifestation that I think is something we dont ultize enough in witchcraft.
It's important (to me) that herbs can be used in your daily life to aid you in both ways, so why limit your knowledge to only one use?

The Spirits do not judge you unfairly for your humanity. Your queerness is sacred and divine, your disability is a piece of your holy puzzle and your body is a blessing no matter how it may come.
The Ancestors have lived it, the trees, the hills, the mountains, the sea and the saints have seen it.
The Spirits do not judge you unfairly for your humanity. Imperfection is wholly and entirely perfect.

I should really get into properly veiling, not that I don't love my locs or appreciate it but I hate when other people see my hair, it gives me awful energies and I always wear a bonnet around and its so much more calming and relaxing for me. I think this is my next step 🫡
been considering veiling for a long while and i’m not sure directly why. i’ve never considered it before being pagan. going to look into if it’s one of my deities encouraging it from me but for now, i thought i’d just show some veils i thought were beautiful that i’d like something similar to:

i like the styles that are more open and allows some hair to show. also manilla veils are so so gorgeous but i plan to start with small ones before getting to longer ones (esp since my family is non-supportive of veiling).
wanted to ask others who veil how they started, what type of veil style/material they use, why they veil, etc!! :)

How to Guide on Shadow work,
A loose Step by step and simple guide to shadow work.
Before you continue
I know we all saw those tiktok shadow work books and how easy it was! Now, so many people are trying to get into shadow work, but they just don't know how or what it actually is! So I'm here to try my best and explain what it is, the benefits, and the purpose of it! If anything I said is wrong, please let me know! Remember! Everything I say is just what I know works for ME. If it doesn't work for you, create a way that does work for you! Find more resources that can help you!
What exactly is Shadow work?
First, we have to understand what a Shadow is. Carl Jung is a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who created the Jungian Archetypes. The term Shadow and what we're focusing on comes from Jung's model of psyche. The Shadow is the unconscious part of your mind that has all of the repressed aspects of oneself.
But what does this mean exactly?
It means that the Shadow embodies the unpleasant side of yourself. From unfilled desires, unhealed damage/trauma, and things you consider to be harmful. Also, it can be referred to as self-projecting.
People naturally repress their Shadow because it's things that are socially unacceptable, harmful, or hurts you in some way or form be mentally or physically.
Shadow Work
Now, Shadow Work is actually a type of psychotherapy in psychology. It involves exploring, acknowledging, and integrating the parts of yourself that you've previously repressed or even ignored.
The goal of Shadow Work is to recognize and acknowledge those parts of yourself. It's to learn that the parts you repress is who you are and those parts of yourself aren't good or bad. It's to learn how to accept yourself and who you are at your core.
How Shadow Work helps
Identifying and regulating your emotions (why do I feel this way? Am I angry at you or at myself?)
Improving your self esteem, self acceptance, self confidence, and self projecting
Strengthening and deepening relationships
Learning healthy coping mechanisms that work for YOU
Learning and how to modify self-sabotaging behaviors
Be cautious
It is easy to go down into a self deprecating spiral when doing this! Remember that the goal is to NOT highlight your worst qualities and get rid of them but to accept those qualities and learn how to live WITH those qualities. You are exploring yourself. This means self acceptance. By rejecting parts of yourself you are going down the opposite path!
How to approach shadow work?
Think of all of your 'cringiest/embarrassing' moments and stop thinking about how other people view it or what other people think or how you THINK they thought about it. Think about WHY you felt embarrassed in that moment. Be on your own side. Don't be an enemy to yourself or bully.
If something about a person triggers you (shocked, taken aback at their behavior), think how you would react to yourself exhibiting that behavior? Are you jealous or resentful of someone? Feel that feeling and really get to know it. Know exactly what you are feeling and know the exact cause.
Understand WHY you have negative behaviors. Did something happen in the past that made you develop that behavior? Once you acknowledge and recognize the cause of that behavior, you can then work towards a path of 'healing' in a way that you can accept it and find the next step towards a better sense of self that YOU can accept.
Recognize that the past does not exist. What exists is the present. If you felt embarrassed, something in your 'past' has conditioned you to feel that way. Your mind is still holding on to what has conditioned you. You have to learn to let go because the past is no longer happening right now. It doesn't exist, so there's no need to still feel conditioned to react embarrassed when it's already passed.
Everything you do as a habit, belief, or values that you don't fully understand will form and is your shadow.
Beware that you have things about yourself that you don't fully understand. Take time, reflect, recollect, and understand the things you don't get about yourself. There is never a 'I just picked this habit up.' Why did you pick that habit up? What made you pick it up? Is this a response to something that has happened to you before?
Why do you react a certain way? What caused it? When did you start doing it? What emotions do you feel during it? Why do you feel those emotions?
How do you motivate yourself? Why do you motivate yourself that way? What caused you to do it that way? Is it harmful or helpful? Why?
Integrate your Shadow to yourself. Find ways to express these unconscious things you repress in a healthy way.
Results of Shadow Work
It is important that as you see results that you MUST be kind to yourself. You must be patient and not rush through it. Setbacks are normal. Go at your own pace and take breaks. Everyone has a shadow. Do not feel upset over the things you learn about yourself. Seek help from others. It's okay to find a support system during this process. Whether it be from a professional or someone close to you.
Tips
Journaling your progress.
Be persistent
Be patient
Understand that not everyone goes on the same Shadow working process. Learn what does and doesn't work for you.
