Bird Terminology
Generic: A term used to describe cross-breeding between sub-species. It is not considered as detrimental to future generations as hybridization of species.
Genus: A group of related species.
Hybrid: Cross-breeding two different species such as breeding a Pacific Parrotlet to a Green-rumped Parrotlet.
Mutation: Refers to abnormal coloration that is a result of a genetic anomaly.
Nominate: A term that is used to describe the primary or controlling species. Sub-species are compared to the nominate species to identify the sub-species differences.
Species: Classification of animals that have physical and/or behavioural characteristics that are the same and live in the same geographical area.
Sub-species: A group of animals that are very similar to a particular species but have subtle differences in appearance and/or behaviour. They are also found in a different region.

Poor-man's seed cleaning machine!
Experiment with the speed of seed pouring. The idea of course is to have to fan blow all the husks from out of the seed. Works like a damn. I've been doing it for years. Medium speed on the fan is great and pour the seed to a count of 5. 1 being the full bucket and 5 being the empty bucket
