avoiding ocd unsafe posts on tumblr
so i've been experimenting a while with filtering phrases, and here is a list i've come up with that i use to get posts that trigger my ocd / have compulsive language off my dash! this ends up taking out about 95% of these posts. i'm sharing it here so anyone who also wants to blacklist this stuff can as well.
it is helpful to me as someone with ocd to blacklist these phrases and makes tumblr much more accessible, so i hope it can also help others with ocd and similar mental illnesses (or people who just find this stuff aggravating)
phrases to blacklist that are usually used in compulsive statements related to tumblr actions:
asking for reblog
follows>likes
follows > likes
hit that reblog
ignore for
i know you see this
keep reblogging
must reblog
obligated to reblog
obligated to vote
people can reblog
people reblog
please rb
please reblog
please share
rb after voting
rb for
rb if u vote
rb if you vote
rbs > likes
rbs>likes
rb this
reblog after voting
reblog bait (people use this one as a trigger tag, so this one is better under filtered tags instead of filtered post content)
reblog for (this one tends to catch a lot of non-compulsive posts, but leaving it out allows a lot of compulsive posts onto the dash, so it's a tossup if you want to include it)
reblog for exposure
reblog if u vote
reblog if you vote
reblog it every time
reblogs > likes
reblogs>likes
reblog this
remember to reblog
required by law to
sample size
you will reblog
just filtering the word "reblog" will also work as a catchall for most of these, but will also catch a lot of non-compulsive posts, so this list is meant to minimize that effect.
how to blacklist post content
on desktop/web: settings > account > filtered post content (should be right under filtered tags), at this url
on mobile/app: settings > account settings > content you see > filtered post content (again will be right under filtered tags)
how you can make tumblr more accessible for people with ocd and similar mental illnesses
tag posts with compulsive statements as "#reblog bait"
avoid using compulsive statements in posts - according to polls, this makes people less likely to reblog anyway! (poll 1) (poll 2)
if you are able to, avoiding sharing posts with aggressively compulsive statements would help. for example, those "reblog for good luck ignore and you'll never have good luck again" type posts, or things with "rules". i saw a lighthearted tournament with "From now on, if you see a matchup post - even accidentally - you are immediately morally obligated to vote one way or the other. Refusing to vote is strictly forbidden" in the pinned post. this is an example of an ocd unsafe statement. (op of that poll is not malicious though and removed that when told it was inaccessible).
avoid implying that reblogging, following, voting, etc or not doing so carries a moral value.
while reblogging a post may be very small stakes in itself, things like this can trigger compulsions that spiral into more than just reblogging a post. this is why this stuff is important even if it's small-stakes by itself.
you are under no obligation to share this.

Reminder that BetterHelp is owned by an IOF veteran, Alan Matas, and a zionnist. 6 months of free therapy was promised but Betterhelp (bad quality therapy, but still) for the Israeli affected by the war (soldiers that are happily taking pictures of themselves over dead children bodies). So, not only Betterhelp is a dangerous and bad healthcare company, that harms its patients and the mental health professionals (which is already awful on its own), but it's directly supporting the IOF.
So, if you see an youtuber or a content creator doing a Betterhelp sponsorship, call them out and stop engaging with their content. They are literally accepting a ton of money from a company that is actively harming people and supporting a genocide.

Quick reminder that fat gnc people are stellar and radiant and you don’t need to be slim to present or act outside of gender norms. Fat bodies are good bodies.

reminder that when you start getting angry online, go offline. i know lots of people know this already but lots don’t and plenty others need a reminder. there’s a lot of stuff online meant to make you mad. there’s a lot of people who get off on making you mad. there are people out there so convinced of their own beliefs that there’s no point trying to discuss with them. blacklist tags, block people, scroll away, and sometimes, take a breath and step back. hate-scrolling is so easy to fall into but you might not realise how much it’s affecting you until it’s too late

If you have speech issues due to brain fog or psychosis or schizophrenia spectrum or intellectual disability or aphasia or whatever reason love you forever. We are not stupid, we are not freaks, we are disabled (if you identify that way) and deserve to be normalized. Speak "strange" forever
-schizophrenic with somewhat constant disorganized speech and writing

another important thing to remember is 1) u can pick up any hobby at any point in ur life and get outstandingly good at it & 2) the project u've been working on & aren't pleased w the current outcome so far will not be your last. u will draw/crochet/paint/sculpt/write another piece, and another, and you will have many chances to be fully content w your craft. so you should cherish the joy of making art instead of worrying ab the results & think ab how lovely it is that we're all vessels for artistry and we can share the divine act of creation!!!!!

i never want to contribute to toxic positivity so i want to acknowledge that sometimes things just suck and there isn’t a bright side. the best thing you can do in those times is take care of yourself as much as possible. maybe that means just brushing your teeth, drinking some water or calling up a friend. you don’t always have to be grateful for where you are in life. sometimes you have to get through some hard shit first, but i know that you’re capable of doing it.

intrigued by how much recovery is self discovery at its core. we tend to think of recovery as an absence of the illness, but the experience has actually been more the opposite: an emergence of the self, overshadowing the rest. the illness has shrunk, almost imperceptibly, and it hasn’t been a linear journey but the more i become, the harder it is for the illness to return. i take up the most space now.

grad school is weirdly psychologically straining. idk how to explain it. But my advice is basically. If you're considering something drastic, also consider things that are less drastic. If you're considering quitting, then also consider threatening to quit. If you're considering suicide, consider quitting. Whatever drastic thing you're consdiering because you're about to fail a class or a candidacy exam, also consider just failing and continuing anyway. You know? It's not waht you wanted, but if you're already considering something outside of the sapce of stuff you wanted, consider all the stuff less drastic than it too

Its okay if you're not who you thought you would be, take all the time to grieve the person you tried so hard to become when you wanted to better yourself and learn from your past mistakes. But its also okay to just love the person you are now and learn to get to know that person better. There is no shame in being who you are, even if you still have a lot to learn. You don't always have to upgrade yourself, sometimes there is peace in appreciating who you are and what you have right now.

maybe if you take a hot shower. cook something. eat a little soup. feel a little sunshine. make something with your hands—it doesn’t have to be big. maybe if you stretch your body and draw a silly little picture and get some rest, the world will feel like something your hands can still hold
