8. I think that Ninoy’s death happened at a unique time in our history, when events and latent feelings of unrest, disappointment and aspiration converged.

The Filipino is a patient sort of people but we had reached a simmering point when our aspirations as a people had been denied for the longest time.  We were about to lose our patience. His assasination provided the tipping point to which we responded by mounting a peaceful revolution.

If Ninoy had not been assassinated, I think we would have continued to trudge along, hoping something would change.

7. Years of incarceration (solitary confinement) and then US exile might have softened Ninoy, dubbed by journalists then as “the enfant terrible of Philippine politics”. Had he lived, he could have pursued his plan of critically collaborating with his Upsilon Sigma Phi brod Macoy. There were, however, several power cliques within the seemingly monolithic Marcosian dictatorial structure. The most powerful of these cliques was none other than the one led by Imelda and her cohorts, notably Fabian Ver, who truly despised Ninoy. In other words, even if Marcos acceded in “working” with Ninoy to address the nation’s pressing concerns, Ninoy would still be killed—sooner or later.

6. Ninoy Aquino would have been your regular trapo if he was still alive today.  “Ninoy was an overly ambitious politician who so coveted the presidency  he co-opted the Communist Party of the Philippines to help him implement a way of becoming the republic’s president, notably: the infamous Plaza Miranda bombing of the Liberal Party’s Miting de Avance (infra).”  Since Ninoy Aquino came from an oligarch family (Cojuangco-Aquino), the usual political agenda is to protect their vested interests or their dynasty. Has there been any trapo that truly worked for the people? The Philippines is one of the highest poverty rates among emerging Asian economies.

Like most politicians, Ninoy’s slogan “the Filipinos are worth dying for” is just similar to  Former President Ferdinand Marcos “this country can be great again” , all meant to propel them to power.  Ninoy’s only real claim to fame was being a hero after getting shot upon his return to The Philippines. –Noemi Lardizabal-Dado, Mom Blogger

If you read however Ninoy’s writings from his time in solitary confinement, it seems that that it changed him dramatically.

I am not sure though that it would have been enough to make him appealing to the general public if he had lived to challenge Marcos in a truly free and democratic electoral process. He was brilliant, eloquent, and a one-time wonder kid—too much like the man he would have replaced.

Vice Ganda VS. Jessica Soho.

Hindi ko maintindihan ang ibang tao kung bakit nakukuha pa nilang manuod ng mga comedy shows at comedy acts kung seseryosohin din naman nila yung mga binibitawang linya ng isang komedyante. Kaya nga joke di ba? Once na pinatulan mo ang isang joke, ikaw yung magmumukhang tanga. Sabi nga di ba, ang pikon talo.

“Ang hirap nga lang kung si Jessica Soho magbo-bold. Kailangan gang rape lagi. Sasabihin ng rapist, ‘Ipasa ang lechon.’ Sasabihin naman ni Jessica, ‘Eh nasaan yung apple?’”

Bakit kase kailangang iconnect agad sa issue ng rape ang simpleng joke kung malinaw namang nakasaad sa sinabi ng komedyante na ang tinutukoy na rape ay para sa mga Bold Movies. Kung sabagay, reporter nga naman si Jessica Soho at Arnold Clavio. Pero ang tanong,  kung hindi si Jessica Soho ang binanggit niya at ordinaryong matabang babae lang jan sa kanto, would people react the same way? At isa pang tanong, bakit kailangang seryosohin ang isang joke? Feeling naman nila may mangrarape talaga kay Jessica Soho.

Sa tingin ko wala namang ginawang masama si Vice Ganda. Parte yun ng pagbibiro sa show niya. Ang joke na yun ay hindi para kay Jessica Soho. Para yun sa mga taong kaharap niya na nanunuod ng concert niya. Kung si Binay nga na OJT lang ng tatay niya na Senador na ngayon ay hindi napikon sa kanya, sana lang mas nilawakan na lang ng isang pinagpipitagang news anchor na matagal na sa serbisyo na magkaiba ang trabaho ng isang newscaster sa komedyante.

Para sa mga rape victims agad with an ‘s’? Siya lang naman pinapatungkulan ni Vice pero idinamay pa ang lahat ng rape victim sa buong mundo. Yan tayo eh. Masyadong nag gegeneralize. Anong gusto niyang mangyare, tipong “Para sa lahat ng rape victim jan, ipaglaban niyo ang ating karapatan” Like what the fuck!?!

Sang ayon  naman ako sa sinasabi nila na hindi mo kailangang manlait ng iba para lang magpatawa. andun na tayo eh. Kung si Dolphy nga naging Comedy King ng hindi nambubully sa mga hirit niya di ba? Pero ang sakin lang, may iba’t ibang atake ang lahat ng komedyante. At nasa tao na yun kung lalawakan nila ang pang unawa nila.

So para sakin, walang offensive sa ginawa ni Vice Ganda. Sayang nga lang at may mga taong propesyonal pero parang eskinita naman ang utak kung mag-isip. Ang mas nakakaoffend at kailangan ng matinding aksyon ay ang pagkanta ni Vice ganda tuwing magsisimula ang GGV.
