Haru remained in the kitchen, watching the cookies bake as her phone would go off because Yamamoto was sending text messages to her phone. Really, if her father knew about this, he’d be upset… wouldn’t he? Good thing she doesn’t live at home for him to find out! Not like anything bad is going on anyways, they’re just talking about cookies.

Fathers worry too much.

She stared down at her phone and tilted her head in confusion before her eyes lit up with excitement. Haru sees her chance—she’s going to take it!

Do you get it? Did you get the joke? You set yourself up for that one and you’ve only yourself to blame. Not a lot of people knew this about her, but she did like to indulge in puns whenever the opportunity arose. She thought that puns were cute and fun!

She was giggling to herself quietly, quite pleased by her pun when her phone sounded off once more. Haru was thinking he was going to make a comment on her pun, but instead… Hahi! What is this!? Her cheeks flared red at the sudden compliment and she wasn’t sure on how to reply for a solid minute.

No no, Haru was just too weak and she reacted strongly to just about everything.

Of course, she won’t forget to say thank you for the compliment. She’s training to be a Yamato Nadeshiko and that means she can’t let a compliment go unthanked.

AH! The cookies were done! She had to take them out and set them out to cool off before she put them into little bags! 

Takeshi has never got the opportunity to message a girl, or message someone just for the sake of it for a long time. Contrary to popular belief, he’s a pretty bad texter. 

He’s that guy who would check his messages and forget to reply. Or reply two weeks later. Work texts were a different matter, of course. He prioritized messages from Tsuna, Gokudera and Reborn. 

It felt kinda nice though, texting Haru. She has a peculiar sort of innocence that makes him smile. The fact that she was blatantly suspicious of him was another matter. He’s not sure why she looked at him as if he was some two-headed monster at school, but he’s going to investigate that on his own time. He’s pretty sure she doesn’t know anything about him, and he trusted his instincts. 

He settled down with his noodles, mindlessly switching on the TV set for some background noises.

Takeshi enjoyed complimenting people. It doesn’t cost him anything to make someone happy. He doesn’t understand why Haru would faint after hearing the truth anyway.

Just imagine you run into a young man one day. He’s nice and sweet and friendly and he easily diverted the attention of a pervert that has been eyeing you for minutes as you walked home after work. You’re scared the pervert is going to follow you home but luckily this kind man came over to help you. He even helped you carry the leftovers the restaurant you’re working at to your doorstep. You’re so relieved that you didn’t even think about trusting another man. After all, he looks so sheepish and awkward when he quietly asked if you needed help getting home, and you do know a little bit of judo from when you were a kid. 

He doesn’t look half as huge or scary as that pervert too. You’re sure you can take him anyway, but you doubt so. Look at this kid–he looks like those college student who works part time at a convenience store during weekends greeting customers with that obnoxious cheerful smile. He looks like the sort of dutiful son who visits his family every week for dinner!

You haven’t gotten a chance to visit your family for ages, and you are too busy to meet up with friends so you couldn’t help but strike up a conversation with the guy as he escort you home. You don’t even mind gossiping as he asks about your neighbor. After all, they are a bunch of weirdos you have rarely even get the chance to meet, and secretly you suspect they are drug dealers with all the hooligans that’s constantly hanging around your apartment building. Whatever, right. You’re just trying to make a living. Whatever your neighbor does is none of your business. You’re not that rich to move out of your shabby but cosy apartment anyway. You just have to suck up and accept that that’s what life had handed to you.

The young man amicably agreed with you and again caution you to be careful at night. It’d be nice to have such a sweet guy like him fetching you home everyday, you wistfully thought. He even make sure you lock the door before he left. You couldn’t help but worry a little about the kind man as you get ready for bed. This is a shady neighborhood after all. You shake your head and thinks that you have better start worrying more about yourself first since rent’s coming up and the landlord is a bitch about late payments. 

The next morning, there’s paramedics and police officers swarming the building and your neighbor’s dead.

I have a headcanon that Yamamoto once pranked Gokudera by replacing his shampoo with red hair dye.  To this day, Gokudera still thinks that Mukuro was the one who did it.
