am rereading the sunshine court and taking it slowly to see if i can find more details hinting at jeremy's backstory. instead what i've noticed is how much coffee jeremy drinks.

the morning after the usc vs psu game, he wakes up and receives a full travel mug of coffee at five in the morning, which he drinks on his way to a coffee shop, where he orders "Enough caffeine I'll see soundwaves" (p59), which is several espresso shots, before the clock has turned six. at seven he buys a pound of coffee beans and goes to cat's and laila's place, where laila proceeds to make more coffee for them.

If I had a nickel for every time two characters in a series fell in love where one is a blonde with a traumatic family backstory and last name issues who is shorter than their partner and utterly fascinated with their partner who is involved with the mafia and also has a traumatic backstory involving pain and isn’t allowed to not play exy bc they’re in said mafia’s debt and they have a third member who isn’t in a relationship with them but is a big reason for their relationship and has history with the mafia involved member of the relationship…I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice in the same series.
