HQ Setters & Aces “Wanderlust” Zine: Preorders Interest Form!

Hello all,

Apologies for the hiatus! We’re back on track with the zine as Mod Cara finishes up school this week.

To ensure that this project can still go forward successfully, we’d like those of you interested in supporting the project to let us know what you’d like to see!

Please fill out the interest form for zine orders here!

Also, a few updates:

Mods Keiji and Mack dropped out of the zine for personal reasons, so Mod Cara will be heading the project. The addition of another mod to help with packaging is under consideration.

Sales for the zine, should adequate interest be shown, are projected to be set to open in early to mid-June.

Hello everyone!

We’re so sorry for the lack of updates on the blog—this post was meant to go out earlier to keep you updated, but then all three of us mods were hit with a slew of life-related things.

Unfortunately, we’ve run into some problems in formatting and with our printing companies, but rest assured that we are hard at work making sure that the zine will be as amazing as possible!

Due to the issues with sorting out printing, we have yet to figure out if we will be able to provide print merchandise at this time.

We also don’t have a specific date for preorders to open yet, but we hope to open them within the next few months.

We can tell you that the zine will be A5 sized, with 50 pages of content from 39 creators (13 artists, 11 cosplayers, and 15 writers)! The store will have preorders available for PDF zines, physical zines, and at least one zine bundle which will include a special e-zine with exclusive content from several of our writers and cosplayers!

Hello everyone! Mod Cara here—thanks so much for following along with featurette series; this will be the last installment! I thought it’d be a bit weird to write my own featurette in third person, so here we are ✨

I’m so stoked to be organizing Wanderlust along with Mack and Keiji—this is my first time running a zine, and it’ll also be the first time I write for a print zine! Previously, I wrote for the Run! Charity Zine and the Farewell e-zine, as well as the Iwaoi Exchange and 2016 Haikyuu Secret Santa events.

Beside Wanderlust, I’m also in charge of the BNHA Quirk Swap Zine! Although I’m fairly new to writing, I’ve been lucky enough to be accepted into two other zines: the HQ Fantasy Zine and the Sunrise Zine! Right now, I’m also writing as part of the Voltron Fanfiction Remix and an additional gift for the Iwaoi Exchange. Other events I’m running include the Studio Ghibli Zine and the VLD Tropes Fest!

Quite a bit of writing and organizing, but I’m so glad to be working alongside so many talented people—if you’ve seen the other featurettes, I’m sure you know what I mean!

Yes! We are working on compiling the bonus e-zine, formatting (for both), and the printing ahhh (printing companies, please be nice to us).

Mod Mack is working on formatting and Mod Keiji is working on figuring out the details with the printers! Both are very hard at work and they’re doing the best they can to make this zine a success. Please cheer them on!!

Is the zine out for preorder????????????

The zine is not out for preorder yet, unfortunately! Please stay tuned!

So I noticed that the zine has yet to be release, even after the final production date, may I know when the zine will be released?

We don’t have a date that the zine will be released at this time, as we are having difficulty with printers :(

Where is the zine at as far as being finished? Asdfghjkl I don’t wanna be rude or anything I’m just. So excited.

The zine is nearly fully formatted but has yet to go through any printing processes. We hope to have the zine out soon, but we want to be sure to provide the best possible quality we can!

Hello! Are you guys going to have a bundle? If so, what will be included and about how much do are you thinking of charging? Super excited for this zine!

will there be merchandise? I read in your FAQ there might be. will the cosplayers be selling their prints as merchandise?

Hi I sent in an ask about merchandise and I didn’t know if it ever sent properly?

Hello! We’re so sorry for not replying, we wanted to be able to give you a definite answer… but at this time, we still are unable to do so.

We don’t know if we’ll be able to have print merchandise available. If we do, they will likely be prints of artwork in the zine and/or cosplay photos (in the zine or other shots from their shoots). This is all tentative—at the moment, we cannot promise any bundles with prints.

Currently, we have an additional bonus e-zine “bundle” in the works which will act as bonus material! It will include extra cosplay photos (both new and extended images from the shoots in the regular zine) and brand new writing from some of our writers!

This means that our current options for the store will likely be as follows:

e-zine only

e-zine + bonus e-zine

print zine + bonus e-zine

We hope you’ll be excited for the zine release! Thank you for your continued support and patience during this time!

Wanderlust Zine introduces Mod Keiji and his cosplay partner, Ren!

You may know Keiji from his work as an admin for HQBrofest, along with one of our writers, Bsinoranges! He also was a professional portrait photographer for two and a half years ✨

Although this is Ren’s first zine, they’ve cosplayed for quite a while. Beside their Bokuto and Ushijima cosplays, they’re currently creating a fem!All Might (from BNHA) and Shiro (from Voltron)! They’ve also just finished one for Futakuchi, from none other than Haikyuu!!

If you’ll be attending the SNAFU Convention this October, be sure to keep an eye out for Keiji and Ren—they’ll both be guest performers in the masquerade!

Rikka is another one of our talented writers! With a knack for transporting both characters and her audience into a series of vignettes we highly wish were canon, her stories never fail to give us a serious case of longing for travel and what-if? scenarios.

Wanderlust Zine will be her second zine (she previously wrote for the @haikyuu2ndyears zine) and we’re so happy to have her on board! In the meantime, Rikka is also writing two other multichapter fics as well as working on her piece for the @hqfantasyzine. Recently, she completed “like a river,” her first matsuhana fic, and “late summer, early autumn,” a ghost au ✨

Final Stretch !!

We’re in the final stages of the zine’s creation period, the final deadline for all pieces is on the 10th of August !! 

If you would like an extension please contact one of the mods either on Discord, or send us an email!!

Soon, our contributors can sit back and relax while mods Cara, Keiji and Mack get to working out the final details !! We’re incredibly excited to see how everything appears all together, all the pieces we’ve seen so far have been gorgeous, and we’re even more excited to share it with everyone soon!!
