Try A Little Harder
Summary: Jack is used to not hearing no, whether it’s for music or girls… especially girls. You however don’t care that he’s Jack Harlow and is telling you hi and that you’re pretty. He’s going to have to try a little harder.
A/N: This came to me after jack said in an interview that he likes when girls are a bit more harder to obtain and he finds it a turn on when they diss him lmao. He’s such a Pisces.
“And who’s party is this again? Which rapper are you f*cking today?” You playfully joked as you walked into the dark club, “You know I didn’t come to LA to party.”
Your friend laughed, “What exactly did you come to LA for then?”
“Work.”
It was true, you weren’t a fan of Los Angeles. It had to be your least favorite place in the world but every once in a while you were forced on a plane to the forsaken place. It helped that your best friend lived there and that it was warm but overall Los Angeles just wasn’t the place for you.
Your friend gave you a look which made you smile before responding, “And you of course.”
“Aw Y/N, you’re too sweet. My best friend in the entire world.”
You shook your head, “Uh-uh. You’ve gotten me to stay way longer than I intended to. I want to go home. Plus I’m here, which you know me, you know that I really love you if I’m here.”
Here happens to be a party, full of people who know people and so on. You know people of notoriety are here because Zack Bia propped up on a small stage DJing and laughing with a crowd beside him. You’re sure that the Insta girl you dislike is somewhere around here which makes you automatically want to go home.
“I can’t do Instagram girls.” You say with a sourness to your tone.
Mila your friend nods, “I was hoping she wouldn’t be here but since Drake’s here of course she is.”
You and Mila are not mean girls by any means but when people do you wrong or talk crap about you, it’s easy to be mean back. Especially to girls who show no type of respect.
“Are you actually in LA or do my eyes deceive me?” Drake cheeses as he spots you, instantly engulfing you in a hug, “Mila you got the princess here?”
Mila laughs, “She’s here for work supposedly.”
Drake had always been nice and a really good friend. A lot of people who even experience one-fifth of his fame let it get to their head but not Drake, through everything he’s stayed pretty humble for his level of fame and a great friend.
You nod, “I am… I’m leaving tomorrow.”
“Tell her to stay, Aubrey! Tell her! I’m so lonely here.” Mila whines, which makes you laugh.
Drake just laughs, before waving someone over to us.
You turn spotting a tall white man talking to the group of girls you despise entirely. You can feel your bitch face appearing as he walks up right next to you, someone who willingly hangs out and chooses to talk to those girls doesn’t seem like someone you’d want to talk to.
“It was nice seeing you Aubrey, come visit in New York.” You give him a quick hug before trying to walk away.
“Wait Y/N, this is Jack… You know Jack right? Jack Harlow. We just dropped a song together, I spent last weekend with him in Kentucky. Jack, this is Y/N.” Drake has a mischievous smile on his face as he introduces the two of you.
You give Jack a look, the smirk he has on his face already annoying you. “Nice to meet you Y/N.”
“Right,” You mumble, before turning back to Drake. “I mean it. Come and visit me.”
Jack and Drake watch as you walk away, Mila right behind you. “Damn. What did you do to her to completely diss you like that?”
Jack licks his lips a bit, shrugging. “I don’t know but… that kinda turned me on. It’s been a while since anyones acted like that with me.”
Drake gave Jack a look before laughing, “Oh man Y/N isn’t one of those girls that plays hard to get. WHen she doesn’t like someone she doesn’t like someone.”
Jack’s smile instantly fell, “Man what the hell did I do?”
You turn to Mila, grabbing a drink from the bar. “Jack Harlow? The rapper? Was I supposed to be amazed?”
Jack Harlow, you knew of Jack Harlow and unlike everyone else he didn’t really intrigue you… at all. You heard his name more than anyones though in the last week with the release of his album.
“Oh shit, he’s coming over here.” Mila looked over your shoulder.
You turned around confused, coming face to face with his chest, before looking up at his face.
“Hi.” He smiled.
You looked back at him and then at Mila who was smiling at the situation, then back to him. “Can I help you?”
“You’re hurting my feelings Y/N.” Jack spoke, his accent peaking through.
You laughed, tilting your head. “Do I know you?”
He shrugged, “Maybe. I mean I’ve only been trending on everything since my album came out.”
“Not too much on the cockiness Jack, it’s not as attractive as you think.” You hummed, looking over his shoulder at the Insta girls eyeing you both down, “Shouldn’t you be back over there?”
Jack doesn’t care to even turn around, “I like it over here though.”
“I don’t like you over here though, you’re taking up all my air.”
You can have it all, I’ll hold my breath.”
You let out a laugh, not being able to hold back the smile any longer. “You don’t quit do you?”
Jack shakes his head, “Not for anything. I want to know why you don’t like me?”
“Like I said, I don’t know you.”
Jack leans in closer, bending down to your ear. “Then get to know me.”
You smirk, taking a step back. “I’m sure that’s worked on multiple women but you’re gonna have to do a little more than that. Goodnight Jack.”
Jack couldn’t stop thinking about you. As soon as you walked into the party, a mean mug on your face but a smile appearing as soon as your friend began talking to you he just knew he had to have you; had to talk to you; had to know you.
It felt like fate to him when you walked up to Drake, it gave him a way in to talk to you. A quick text sent to Drake while he was talking to you to get him to introduce the two of you. It was all supposed to be easy until the two of you locked eyes for the first time and you looked anything but pleased and then you just dismissed him like nothing.
You’re gonna have to do a little more than that…
Jack could play that game, and he could play it well.
—
You were so happy to be home, to be back in your bed and back on east coast time. You had a surprising amount of fun and you loved being with Mila but there was just no place like home.
“Uhm Y/N, were you expecting flowers?” Your roommate knocked on you door, walking in with a huge bouquet of tulips.
Your eyes widened and a smile appeared on your face as you took the bouquet of flowers into your hands, “No but these are my favorite so even if they aren’t mine I’m not giving them back.”
“No they’re yours, says your name and everything on this note.”
“Note?” You question, picking up the card and reading, “Y/N you said I had to try harder… I’m not a dumbass, I know your favorite flowers aren’t gonna cut it but it’s a start. I’m in New York for some business and I would really love to take you to dinner tonight… I’m sending a car later on at 8 if you feel like coming or not. I hope you do… Love, Jack. AKA dude from the party in case you didn’t remember.”
“Who’s Jack? Did you meet someone in LA? Y/N you have to tell me, you hardly ever date!” Your friend feels giddy with excitement for you.
“Jack, like uhm… Jack Harlow.” You bury your face in your hands as Noelle gets even more excited.
“Of fucking course you go to Los Angeles for a couple days and come home with one of– if not thee hottest rapper out right now begging you for a date!”
“Noelle, calm down. He’s cocky… like really cocky and I’m sure he’s only doing this because he hasn’t heard no in forever.” You shake your head, “I’m not going.”
Silence takes over the two of you.
“Okay but he’s so cute Y/N, and he’s smitten I can tell just by that card!”
You furrow your brows. But is he really? Is Jack Harlow really so smitten with you that he found you somehow in New York and wants to take you out? He even went out of his way by finding out your favorite flowers. He sure is biting a bullet by sending a car for you and him waiting for you wherever alone.
“F*ck it.” You shrug, laughing at Noelle’s dramatic reaction to you agreeing to a date with Jack.
Within a few hours you find yourself standing in front of the full length mirror in your room, observing the outfit you chose, the makeup you had on and the way your hair was styled. You purposely chose not to go all out.
“Miss Y/L/N.” The driver in front of your building asked, opening the door to the blacked out cadillac.
“Thank you,” You smiled as you slipped into the backseat of the car watching as the driver closed the door and got into the driver’s seat before taking off. You leaned forward, “You don’t happen to know what Mr. Harlow has in planned do you?”
The driver chuckled, “Not a clue ma’am he wouldn’t let me know because he knew you’d ask and he thinks that because I am a softie I would tell you.”
You laugh along, “Well would you have?”
“Oh of course Miss Y/L/N.” He nods, “But I assure you Mr. Harlow is a nice guy and he doesn’t do this at all really so he must like you a lot.”
The rest of the car ride is quiet besides the soft sound of music coming from the radio, you watch out the window as the car crosses into Brooklyn and then into what looks like an abandoned lot.
The car stops, you feel confused as you get out of the car and see Jack standing there with a smile on his face.
“Thanks for dropping her off Lenny, I’ll text when we’re ready.” Jack says bidding the driver off, before turning back to you. “Hi.”
You smile, looking around. “Are you going to murder me?”
“No Y/N. I’m not gonna murder you.” Jack laughs, shaking his head. “I’m glad you decided to come.”
You shrug, “Well you know I didn’t want you waiting out here all night, that’s just mean.”
Jack holds his hand out, “You ready?”
You walk ahead, choosing to be a little more hard to get. “Where are we?” You look around watching Jack just shake his head with a smirk.
“Follow me.”
You do so, following someone you don’t know at all into a dark building not even being able to see your own feet. “Jack, it’s really dark.”
You feel his hand interlock with yours and this time you don’t hesitate to squeeze back, instantly getting closer to him. “I got you, I got you. The switch is right around—”
Suddenly all the lights in the building are and your eyes widen at the scenery. “Holy sh*t.”
It’s an old movie theater, really old and beautiful. You look up at Jack finally noticing how close the two of you are which causes you to step back quickly. “This place is gorgeous.”
Jack nods, “It was built in the 1920’s but didn’t open until mid 1930’s and it stood open until maybe late 50’s and then it was shut down until the beginning of June 1985 when it held the New York Premiere for The Goonies.”
You look back at Jack surprised, “How do you—”
“You tell a lot of people that your favorite movie is The Goonies.” Jack smiles.
“How the heck did you even find all of this out? How were you even able to rent this place out?” There’s just no way Jack did this for you, there was no way.
“Finding out your favorite movie was easy, finding this place was a little harder and getting them to give up the place for a night was even harder. Getting them to show the original film they got from the premiere now that was almost impossible.”
“Jack you didn’t.”
“You told me to try a little harder and I’m tryin’ Y/N, I do really like you.” Jack rubs at the back of his beck.
“You like how I look, but you don’t know me enough to like me.” You mumble, “You all think you like me but you don’t. You like my instagram, you like my photos, the way I look at parties but you don’t like me.”
Jack shakes his head walking up closer to you, “I like that you say your favorite color is periwinkle because in middle school you didn’t want to be basic and say your favorite color is purple. I like that your favorite book is Anne of Green Gables because your elementary school librarian recommended it to you and it made you fall in love with reading. I like that your favorite movie is The Goonies because you always wanted to go on an adventure and find lost treasure, and that your senior quote was Goonies never say die. I like that if you scroll down all the way to the bottom of your instagram, ten posts in a row are of you singing horribly loud at a Taylor Swift concert. I like that even though you probably didn’t really want to come, one of your reasons to come was the thought of me standing alone waiting for you.”
“How did you get all of this within 46 hours?” You smile so hard, your cheeks begin to hurt.
“Mila.” Jack blushes.
You bite at your lip, “You named your album Come Home The Kids Miss You because your fans commented that on all your pictures. The earliest memory you have of rap is your mom buying late registration by Kanye and playing it in the car for you. Even though people call you an industry plant, if you really dive deep you can see that it’s not true and you’ve completed every step to get where you are. You and your mom look identical it’s endearing and you need to start wearing your glasses again because the lazy eye is lazying.”
“Stalker.” Jack smirks.
“Same to you.” You smirk back.
“You wanna watch The Goonies now because we got like two hours top before they kick us out of this place.” Jack points back to the seating area and the snack bar.
You walk up ahead, grabbing a thing of popcorn. “You couldn’t pay for three hours?”
“If you give me a second date I will.” Jack cheeses.
You roll your eyes playfully sitting down on one of the red seats, “Tell them to play the movie Jackman.”
Jack turns back to the small room the projection is coming out of, “Hey you guuuuuuys!”
“Horrible impersonation.”

Chicken Shop Date Freestyle
Summary: You never thought you’d hear the words that were promised to only be yours ever again until one night you’re scrolling through Twitter and your curiosity get’s the best of you. Your ex Jack Harlow is saying them on a YouTube comedy dating show.
Warnings: fem!reader, fluff, angst?, a bit suggestive lmao but not really.
A/N: sometimes you watch something and you can’t get it out of your head, jack’s chicken shop date freestyle was one of em. enjoy as i try to navigate writing on here :)
Your heart dropped when you saw it for the first time. The video had almost half a million likes on twitter and it would not stop popping up on your feed and even though he was your ex and things didn’t end well between you two you didn’t stop your fingers from pressing on the tweet letting the video play aloud.
“Spending time with someone else and I get to wishin’ that she was you…”
You couldn’t comprehend the words that were coming out of his mouth.
“Any girl can be beautiful but not any girl can just be in tune…”
Your mouth had gotten dry from being open, and you could feel your eyes water up.
“And you so in tune, and you understand me… I make you laugh and you say to me that you can’t stand me…”
You just couldn’t believe that he was using a poem/song he had written for you for Valentine’s Day only a year ago on a fucking Youtube comedy show. And now the internet was eating it up.
It was even weirder seeing him now, the Jack Harlow that everyone was falling for saying the things that baby faced Jack said to you. The Jack that was bordering the come up, and working on What’s Poppin’ still.
You thought back to that day, you both had such a good day.
After thinking all week that he wasn’t going to be able to come on time after being in Atlanta for so long working on music and you being in Louisville for school you were upset, all you wanted to do was spend Valentine’s Day with your boyfriend.
You had bought the perfect dress, with tiny straps that held up your girls just perfectly and hugged your body in all the right places. It was a dress you loved and you knew Jack would too.
So when you got the text the day before from Jack repeating how sorry he was that wasn’t going to be able to make it, you were just so over it. It had been months of him calling and texting, him saying he wasn’t going to make it or be late, or reschedule.
You understood that Jack was doing music, you had always encouraged that side of him but he was also your boyfriend and you wanted him to care more about that sometimes.
Something in you had told yourself to get ready and just go to dinner by yourself, you had spent a good amount of money on the dress and getting your nails done, getting waxed… basically everything you could do for someone who you loved. You’d be damned if you let it go to waste.
So as you stood in front of your mirror, applying the last bit of red lipstick to your lips. You could imagine the surprised look on your face as Jack came out of nowhere, wrapping his arms around your waist, placing a kiss on your cheek mumbling a “Happy Valentine’s baby.”
“Jack?” You quickly turned around, wrapping your arms around his neck jumping up so your legs could wrap around his waist. “Jack!”
“You know I could never miss Valentine’s Day Mama.” He gave you a cheesy smile, one that mirrored yours just the same.
You leaned in placing your lips on his, it had been forever since you were able to kiss him and god you missed his lips. They were always so soft, just like yours. You could tell he missed you just as much because he kissed back with just as much passion, biting onto your lips so you would open up for him.
You let out a small moan as he gave your butt a squeeze, letting his tongue find its way into yours. You were so happy you could barely breathe, you didn’t even want to leave the house anymore, you just wanted to be there with him.
So when you dragged his hands to the middle of your back to pull your zipper down, you could imagine just how disappointed you were when he pulled his hand away and his lips.
You gave him a confused look.
He brushed his thumb over your red lips, “I know baby. As much as I’d love to rip off that pretty white dress and bend you over right here, we still have that dinner reservation.”
You pouted looking up at him, “Okay but I’m holding you to that when we get back.”
“Oh don’t you worry pretty girl, Imma have my way with you believe that.” He winked at you.
That dinner was one of the best ones you had, the food was good and the two of you could not stop talking. That was one thing you loved, the two of you could talk for hours about anything and everything and it just made you so happy. He made you so happy.
“And the music is good?” You asked Jack as the two of you dove into conversation about how things were going in Atlanta. “I think this is the one honestly.”
Jack gave you a look, “You said that about all of em’. Your manifestation ain’t doing shit.”
You couldn’t help but snort at his remark, he was so dumb it made you laugh. “I cannot stand you.”
You two were so buzzed, you had to get an uber back to your place. The shots that you both had ordered had piled up and you both were so giggly and extremely horny. You had missed each other so much in ways that you two could never explain or say out loud.
“I missed you so much.” You mumbled into Jack’s lips and you two hurried into your apartment.
He was quick to take off your dress, letting it drop to the floor Revealing nothing underneath. “God I missed you so fucking bad.” He practically moaned, taking you all in.
You were by far the baddest girl Jack had ever laid eyes on and it was still so crazy to him that you had chosen him out of all people. You were under him, letting him have his way with you because you were undeniably in love with him.
There was no purer feeling than being Jack, he completed you.
“I got something for you…” Jack smiled down at you, drawing little circles on your bare back.
The two of you were tangled in the sheets, sweaty, tired and full on love.
“Jack, I thought we said we weren’t gonna get anything for each other.” You gave him a look, even though you knew that you had his present in your closet.
“Okay, let me rephrase that… I wrote something for you.” He hummed, “And only for you.”
Jack had written verses about you before, he wasn’t very cryptic when it came to you so you knew most of the time when certain lyrics were for you. Most of the time though, it was shared on a song that had mentions of girls that weren’t you or things you had never done with him.
You picked your head up, resting it on your hand. “Oh yeah?”
“Mhmm.”
“Say it…” You leaned in closer to him.
It was quiet for a second between you two before Jack leaned in closer, “Spending time with someone and I get to wishin’ that she was you…”
You smiled.
“Any girl can be beautiful but not any girl can just be in tune… And you so in tune, and you understand me…”
God you could cry. Jack was never good with words when it came down to it, like this. He was someone who had never been in love before you came around, who couldn’t picture himself in such a vulnerable situation like the one he was in. You were it for him, you flipped that switch that he thought was stuck.
“I make you laugh and you say to me that you can’t stand me… You soul food and you eye candy…”
Jack leaned down, placing a small kiss on your lips, “That’s for you and only you.”
“Promise?” You looked into his baby blue eyes.
“Promise.” He nodded, “I didn’t think it was possible to love someone this much, but here you are.”
“I love you Jack Harlow, you’re mine forever.”
Your eyes lingered on the screen as the memory replayed in your head. What was once yours and only yours was no longer. He had given it up entirely. Everyone now had the last thing you had been holding onto.

your writing just does something to me 😭🥰
Flowers
Summary: When Jack finds out that you, his booking agent, has a secret admirer he realizes that the window of opportunity for him to make a move on you is closing. He resorts to childish antics to even the score.
Warnings: Fem!reader, mentions of sexual activity and drug usage, no actual smut, but kind of suggestive towards the end because I just can’t help myself, fluffy, angst if you squint
Jack’s baby blues were wide as he stared at the bouquet in the middle of the kitchen table of his penthouse suite. He slowly dropped his keys on the countertop as he walked toward it almost in slow motion. He paced around the bouquet to admire the multitude of colors: white, pink, peach, and red. All of them were roses separated with strategically placed baby breath that made it look expensive. There were probably a few dozen roses jammed into the clear vase, filling the room with a sweet floral scent.
Jack swallowed, his eyes scanning for a card. Jack took a step back and scanned the entire table, his eyes finally landing on a purple card with the florist shop name etched on it. He flipped it over to see a blank white square with your name etched in the center. The flowers were for you. Damn it.

House Call
Summary: You get a call in the middle of the night from Neelam saying Jack needs you and you come to the rescue.
Warning: Fem!reader, 18+ soft smut (oral male!receiving oral fem!receiving, squirting, penetration) fluffy
You looked at the text message on your phone and then back at the hotel room number. This was definitely the right room, but no one was answering the door. You briefly wondered if this was some kind of prank, but you knew Neelam wasn’t like that. If she was calling you at 11pm because she thought Jack needed you, it was serious. As his manager and his friend, Neelam sounded incredibly concerned when she explained that an Uber would bring you to Jack’s hotel in a few minutes. You weren’t completely sure if it was because you were Jack’s only fling in the area. But, Jack never outsourced his booty call before.
You knocked on the hotel door a couple times. You made sure to hit your knuckles against it harder this time. If Jack had spoken to you through the door you definitely couldn’t hear him. The sound of your heart thundering in your chest was deafening. You swallowed on nothing as the seconds ticked away.
The door swung open, the light from the expansive hallway illuminating the room. The room wasn’t completely dark, but the lighting was low. There was only a single light on giving it a warm, bronzy glow. Jack stood slightly behind the door to give you space to walk in. He looked tall and wide standing there. He had a grin on his face, showing the top row of his straight teeth. There was the ghost of his dimple on his cheek, threatening to pop out more with just the right quip that would make Jack laugh. He had a nervous habit of stroking his chin and tugging on his chestnut colored beard when he didn’t know what to say. You bit your lip worried he would pull it off.
You stepped toward him and rested your hand on his wrist. He stared down at his own fingers, loosening the grip on his beard before letting his pale blue eyes dance toward yours. You swallowed. His eyes looked so sad. The smile that had stretched across his face didn’t make it to his eyes and it created a gnawing feeling in your chest. Jack let go of the door causing it to slam shut. He pulled you into a tight hug, bending to put his face in the crook of your neck. You hugged him back, blinking with wide eyes.

The Club Gets Boring.
summary: sometimes the club gets boring and things feel repetitive, that was until you walked in and now jack knows about marine life.
a/n: lets hope this works, idk at this point i just like writing.
Jack enjoyed the attention he got in his most recent days, his younger self would not have believed anyone if they told him that he’d be pulling tens like nothing. He thought it was funny how growing out facial hair and learning how to do his hair right changed everything for him.
Like said, Jack enjoyed most of the attention he got. He liked the club, it was something that brought together business and pleasure— but tonight he just wasn’t feeling it with the girl that had latched herself onto him for the week. She was pretty but that’s as far as she went, she was just another pretty face and god was he getting tired of em’.
It was crazy how his lyrics never failed to ring true.
I fall in love with girls ‘cause they physically appealing. A couple weeks pass and the convos hit a ceiling.
In retrospect Jack had never really been a player, he wouldn’t admit it but he was a relationship guy when it came down to it for that right person. But in his line of work it’s harder, harder to uphold and image and stay faithful.
“You good?” Urban nudged Jack, bringing him back down.
Jack had his fourth club appearance of the week and he was just about done, the music was making his ears ring, the girl yapping in his ear was giving him a headache and he felt woozy even without having any alcohol in his system.
Jack nodded. “Yeah I’m just about ready to go home though.”
“One more hour and you’re good.” Urban patted his back, going back to chatting with a pretty blonde.
“Mmm.” He rubbed his eyes. “Fuck.” And just when Jack was about to check out completely, you walked in.
You weren’t really a club person or a Jack Harlow fan, you didn’t really see the appeal that the grand public did. You thought he was cute, sure, but he wasn’t all that his TikTok comments made him out to be.
Your friends however were avid club goers, so avid that they knew just about every bouncer and club promoter in the Miami area. They were one of the first people that found out Jack was making an appearance at E11even. They were ecstatic to say the least.
“C’mon Y/N, get your ass off the couch and get ready we’re not taking no for an answer.” They yelled and you listened and that’s how you ended up at a very packed nightclub getting escorted to a private area.
“Here you go, remember if yall need anything just let me know.” Nicky was one of the promoters for the club and he was in love with your best friend Mia so if she wanted a private section and anything to drink she was gonna get that.
“Thanks Nicky.” Mia smiled, placing a kiss on his cheek sending him away with a big smile on his face.
You shifted in place, the heels you were wearing were already starting to hurt. You looked down at your toes, it was a good thing they were pretty that was the least they could do while you were breaking your ankles.
“Y/N, you look gorgeous I’m so glad you decided on that dress.” One of your girlfriends slurred, “Really though you’re gorgeous you need to get dicked down tonight.”
Your eyes widened, feeling your cheeks heat up as if anyone could hear what just came out of her mouth over the loud music. “You’re drunk.”
She nodded, “I am. I need to be just a little bit more and so do you.”
“Shots!” Leia, your other friend popped up out of nowhere with a bottle of Casamigos and a tray of tiny shot cups. “We’re all taking shots.”
You quickly sat down, sitting the farthest out trying to stay clear of her and her heavy hand.
“Aht, Aht! Y/N get your ass over here and open! This is your shit.” Leia yelled, pulling you over. “Now open!”
You giggled, opening your mouth letting the alcoholic drink slide down your throat smoothly. It was true you did enjoy a good Casamigos, out of everything it had to be your favorite.
You scrunch your face, “Ahhhhh. Burns nice.”
Everyone in your section laughed, “There we go girl! Demon time!”
“Oh shit, there he is!” Mia motioned to the other side of the club. Right in front of us was the V.IP. section, more reserved for actual famous people. “That’s Jack Harlow!”
You looked over, this was the first time you actually saw him. He was wearing a white tee shirt and jeans and it made you laugh at how casual he looked in the setting.
“I’m manifesting one of us fucking him.” Jada nodded, “One of us gotta go home with him.”
Half the girls shook their heads, either not feeling him or bringing up their boyfriends while the other half smiled and nodded trying to make it a game.
“How do y’all even expect to get over there and get his attention, especially when that Nova Babe got his already?” You pointed out the girl who was sitting extremely close to him,
whispering something in his ear every other minute.
“You think too much Y/N, for real.”
You shrugged, leaning back and pulling out your phone. You sighed at the time, you still had a good hour of being here before you could dip. You looked back up, your eyes glancing back over the room somehow meeting eyes with someone you had no idea was looking over at you.
Your eyes widened as Jack smiled at you, giving you a subtle soft wave.
Confused you turned around to your friends, maybe he was looking at them because there was just no way he had smiled at you.
You turned back to him, he was laughing. “You.” He mouthed.
“Me?” You mouthed back.
He nodded, his smile however dropping as soon as the Nova Babe leaned into his ear again.
You quickly retracted your eye contact, dropping your head a bit. Leaning over to your friends, you let them know you had to use the restroom. “Anyone else gotta go?”
Nia nodded, “Yeah girl. I don’t want you going alone either.
On the way over there, ducking and swerving through the crowd you mentally scolded yourself for thinking that Jack Harlow would be giving you his attention even for a second. Not when he was being rumored to be dating Saweetie, you could just never live up to that. You didn’t even like him like that so why were you questioning the situation so much?
You walked into the restroom, going straight to the mirror. You didn’t look bad, in fact you looked really good and that was something you’d never lie about. You were serving face and the dress you had on was hugging every curve just right, your long straight hair complemented everything.
You knew you weren’t leaving with Jack Harlow tonight but you were leaving with someone.
“You good?” Your friend looked over at you.
Damn, maybe you were staring at yourself for too long. You nodded. “Yeah, just trying to gas myself.”
Nia shook her head, “You’re bad as fuck Y/N. Most of the girls here can’t even spell that.”
You laughed. “That’s not true.”
“You’re too sweet, way too sweet.” Nia linked her arms with yours, walking out the bathroom. “So who do you think is gonna get the farthest with Jack?”
You shrugged, walking back into the loudness. “Mm’don’t know.” It would probably Destiny, out of all her friends she just had that to her. The kind of aura that made it easy for her to get anything she wanted.
You’re face scrunched up in disgust as you felt someone grab onto your arm, “Don’t fucking touch me.” You looked behind to see who had done it.
It was a security guard, a tall one. “My bad mam but uhm, Jack Harlow wants to know if you want to join his section… you and your friends of course.”
You gave him a confused look before seeing Jack in his section standing up and peering over, watching the exchange the three of you were having. Nova Babe nowhere to be seen.
“Huh?” Was all you could say.
Nia wasted no time, “Yes! We would love to, just give us a second to get our friends.”
The two of you were off, hurtling through the crowds, Nia pulling at your arm like a rag doll. You were surprised you hadn’t twisted your ankles. “Y/N I swear you got the fucking sauce!” Nia cheered as the two of you walked up to your section.
“Bitches you’re not gonna believe it, we just got invited into Jack Harlow’s section!”
All the girls stood up in shock.
“No fucking way, how?” Leia asked.
Nia shrugged, “I don’t know Y/N just got it like that.”
Destiny looked over at you, “You know Jack Harlow?”
You shook your head. “No! I don’t even like him like that, nor do I also know him like that.”
“Doesn’t matter I’m fuckihg him tonight, ooh Y/N you are thee fucking best!” Destiny squeezed by you leading the group of your friends to his section.
You fell behind, being one of the last ones to enter the section that was way bigger than the one you all were previously in. You frowned as you saw Destiny immediately make her way to Jack, but you quickly wiped it away not wanting to seem fazed… which you weren’t because you didn’t even know Jack!
You stepped back, taking a seat that was closer to the balcony that overlooked the bottom of the club that was packed.
“Hey I’m Urban.” A deep voice came from beside you, the small couch dipping as he sat down.
You gave him a shy smile, “Sup I’m Y/N.”
He looked back at your friends and then at you. “You got a lot of friends. They all seem cool and… well don’t take this offensive eager.”
You let out a laugh, “Most of them have boyfriends, don’t worry for your friend. They’re just excited to be here as for some others…” You look at Destiny who was obviously flirting with Jack “Well some of them don’t.”
“You’re shy huh…” Urban pulled out a blunt, lighting it. “You’ve got this aura it’s nice.”
“No one’s ever told me my aura was nice, I like that.” You nodded.
Urban took a drag, motioning the blunt to you making you shake your head. “Look Imma be real my friend Jack wanted mostly you to come over… he thinks you’re cute.”
Your eyes widen at Urban’s confession. “What about Nova Babe?”
“Huh?” He looks at you confused.
“Nothing, look I really doubt that and even if he did Destiny is talking to him and she’s good, she’s really good now she’s got the aura. I’m shy. I can’t go up and just jump in that conversation—“ Urban quickly grabs your arm dragging you across the section, “Urban where are we— No..”
“Jack this is Y/N she’s so sweet and uh Destiny, I think your friend was calling you over there.” Urban shoves you playfully into Jack’s side making you stumble a bit. You feel Jacks hand steady you and you can’t seem to look up.
“Huh?” Destiny looks at Urban confused.
“Mhm, here come with me I’ll show you.” Soon Urban is walking away with Destiny.
“You good? You almost tripped there.” Jack chuckles, his hand still on your arm.
You look up, his blue eyes already on yours. You feel small next to him and it isn’t because he’s almost a foot taller than you, “Yeah I just– I’m not sure why he did that, I’m sorry.”
He looks confused for a sec, “Why are you sorry?”
You looked back at Destiny who was now engaging in conversation with a group of guys and some of your friends, “Well Destiny and you were talking and I know Destiny and when she wants something she gets it and Urban just dragged me here and interrupted you both which is very rude— Not that Urban is rude he seems really sweet I just…” I look up at Jack who’s face holds a huge grin.
He nods for me to continue, “I’m listening.”
You tilt your head. “You’re being sarcastic.”
He shakes his head laughing, “I just thought you would have caught on by now that it’s you who I wanted to talk to? You were the one I waved at, I specifically asked my bodyguard to ask if you’d like to come over… the only reason your friends are here is because you’re here. Destiny or whatever her name is cool but I wanted to talk to you.”
You feel confused, this stuff doesn’t happen to you. In your group of friends it’s never you, it’s always someone else. “Oh.”
He looks behind him to the sofa, “You wanna sit down and try and talk over this loud music?”
You nod and just right when you’re about to sit Nia is stumbling over, a bottle in her hand with a determined look on her face. “Your turn Y/N!”
Your eyes widen and you look for Jack for help, he stands up leaning down and whispering something in Nia’s ear before stepping back.
“Ohhhh,” Nia smirks. “Okay. Okay, hey be nice to her she’s a really sweet girl but her family knows people if you know what I mean.”
Jack looks back at you confused by what Nia just said, “Know people?”
You laugh. “Legally I am not allowed to discuss this any further.”
“Oh damn… that’s kinda hot.”
“Mmm not really.”
Jack leans back a bit, sitting back down beside you. “So what brings you to Miami? You live out here? Or Spring Break?”
“Spring Break, they had to drag me out here. I’m not a huge fan of Florida to be honest.” You shake your head, you look down at your phone watching the time.
“So you go to school?”
“Mhm, I’m a Marine Biology major.” You nod.
“Marine Biology? Like some Saving Willy type?” Jack smiles.
“No more like Dolphin Tale, it’s what made me want to pursue stuff like that.” You laughed a bit. It was crazy how clear someone could sound in such a loud environment when you wanted to talk to them. “What about you what do you do?” As soon as those words left your mouth you immediately wanted to slap yourself.
Jack laughed, “Damn that’s how to humble someone.”
“I– I didn’t mean it like that, it’s just…”
“Nah it’s cool, I liked hearing that. I forgot what it felt like. Well I’m a rapper, I rap and stuff like that.” He nodded, slouching over his knees in an attempt to get closer to you.
The two of you are so close you can feel his breath on you, it smells like mint gum. You probably smell like casamigos and watermelon gum.
“You’re not drinking?” The lack of alcohol on his breath in a setting like this is surprising.
He shakes his head, “Mm-mm. I don’t really drink like that no more. You’re not drunk either?”
“I’ve taken maybe one shot, I gotta be up in the morning.” You smile at him and his pretty face. You look back at your phone and your smile is immediately replaced with a frown, “Speaking of… this was nice but Ive really got to go now.”
Jack frowns too, “It’s only midnight?” Midnight. Jack is free to go, the appearance time slot being over. “You know what I gotta go too, let me drive you home?”
You shake your head, “No it’s fine, I doubt you have to go.”
“I’m not letting you go home by yourself because by the looks of it,” Jack motions to your group of friends who look like they’re having the time of their lives with Jack’s friends, “Well I doubt they’re trying to bounce.”
You bit the inside of your cheek, “You don’t even know me.”
“I thought it was obvious that I want to?” He smiled.
You nod, “Okay Jack… you can take me home.”
Jack didn’t even say anything, he just grabbed your hand dragging you through the crowd to your group of friends. “Imma take Y/N home, i’ll meet y’all at the crib?”
You look over at your friends, “I’m gonna go. I got the interview in the morning… M’sorry.”
They all nod in understanding, “You’re good baby text us when you get to the hotel we’ll be back in few okay?”
Leia eyes Jack, “You better not try anything!”
Jack shakes his head. “I promise to be a gentleman.”
Destiny laughs, “Go Y/N!”
Your face flushes in a deep red that you can’t see but already know it’s there. “Let’s go.”
Jack loves the way you look in his passenger’s seat, how had the beginning of this night changed in favor so well. “What’s the interview for?”
“Huh?”
“That you need to wake up early for?” He asked, trying to pay attention to the road and you at the same time.
“Oh. Uhm, it’s for a summer internship thing in the Galápagos Islands. I really want it and it’s super competitive. They only choose 10 students from the states out of a pool of over 1,000. I doubt I’ll get it but it’s worth a shot. I mean I made it this far.”
Jack is stunned by how gorgeous and smart you are, it feels like he hasn’t had a real conversation with someone like this in a while where they’re not prying at him for personal information or want something out of him. But with you he finds himself thinking if he’d have any sway in getting you in… not that he’d do it well if you wanted him to he would.
“That sounds really fucking cool, I really hope you get it. I would love to see pictures of you with those little iguanas.”
You laugh, “If I do get this I would totally send you pictures of all the land and aquatic life on the islands.”
Jack frowns as he pulls up to your hotel not wanting this night to end just yet.
“Hey can I get your—“
“I was wondering if I could—“
You both pause before laughing. “Here I’ll put in my number and you can put in yours?”
You both trade phones exchanging phone numbers.
“After your interview are you doing anything?” Jack asks.
“Interview is at 7 AM it should be an hour at most and the girls always sleep in till noon so no…” You shake your head.
“Wanna get some breakfast? I know this hole in the wall and it’s really good.” Jack hopes you’ll say yes and then you’ll say yes again and again and again.
You nod, “Sure.”
“It was really nice meeting you Y/N, and I mean really nice.”
You smile, “It was nice meeting you tonight too Jack. Thanks for inviting me and my friends over and taking me home.”
“I’d do it again in a heartbeat.”
“Goodnight Jack.”
“Goodnight Y/N.”
And for the first time in a while Jack doesn’t kiss a girl after a couple hours of knowing her. In a weird way he feels giddy like a kid again and he can’t wait to go to sleep and wake up the next day and see you.
You feel giddy as well, hyped up on the fact that you could possibly have a shot at a once in a lifetime opportunity and that a rapper who you thought was a player and maybe a little stuck up, is actually sweet and kind and a very good listener.
The two of you fall asleep with the thoughts of marine life, breakfast and the thoughts of seeing each other in the morning.
