wouldn't trust him in my kitchen either. not only is there a risk he'd set my house on fire, who knows what he's cooking.. could be dangerous.

redesigned one of my characters. and while i was doing that, i thought, "hm, it'd be pretty cool if drew his old designs too and put them all next to each other to see how much he's changed." so i did exactly that.

there were other designs for him, but they weren't really different enough to warrant adding.

the main reason i redesigned him is that his tails (the ones on his costume, mainly, but his actual tail too) were just really annoying to draw. and because it just felt a little plain, you know? i mean it's not much different from his previous one (the main difference being those... whatever they're called under his collar) and giving him real twin tails. i wanted to change it more, but i'm just too sentimental with him >﹏< like he's one of the oldest characters i have that i still draw, and more importantly, have an actual story for.

as the secondary reason for his redesign is that now that i've committed to writing the story after all this time, i wanted to have a design i'm satisfied with. as sentimental as i am with him, he just didn't feel finished, you know? i'm happy with what i have now though ｡٩(ˊωˋ)و✧*｡ i am slightly miffed that i have to redraw the three sprites i made before redesigning him, but it's whatever. they weren't that good anyway + i probably would've had to redraw them regardless.

anyway here's a brief summery of the plot:

young salary-woman lemo goes back to the old carnival she’d been obsessed with in kitten-hood to finally figure out what got it shut down all those years ago. 

as for what it'll be, i'll be doing both a visual novel and a comic. the comic is the only canon time-line, and the visual novel is basically everything else that could've happened. i was pretty split on which one i was gonna do, but literally nothing is stopping me from doing both. so. i'm doing both.

i plan to have at least four endings for the visual novel, (though one of them is joke ending) but that might change once i actually start writing dialogue.

is the "why are you even here?" end (the joke one) were you decide not to investigate the carnival and nothing happens. pointless, yeah, but i think it's funny, so i'm adding it.

the canon end.

a bad end, with multiple ways of getting it and different dialogue depending on how you got there.

and a neutral end, though it's probably gonna come off as more sad than neutral with how i intend on writing it.

if you've read this far, i assume you're at least somewhat interested in my little jester guy :3 first off, thanks. i appreciate it (´ω｀*) second, don't expect anything (other than works in progress) from me about this any time soon. most of what i've worked on for it is just fleshing out both lemo and jester's characters, i.e writing their lore, making them better characters, that kinda thing. i'm nowhere near done with the sprites and don't even get me STARTED on all the backgrounds i have to do o(╥﹏╥)o (or do, if i do then maybe i'll have something tangible before the end of the year lmfao) and on top of all that, i have to learn how to code. on the off chance anyone reading this knows how to code in Ren'Py, is it hard? i have practically no experience (i took a coding class in eighth grade(same year i made my jester son funnily enough) and also used to use scratch, but i don't think i remember anything from that class and for obvious reasons i don't think scratch experience would translate into Ren'Py) i mean even if it's hard that won't stop me, all it means is that it'll take longer than it already will >_<

oh, and i finally titled it! 'Abandoned Carnival' is what i'm going with unless i can think of something better. which i probably won't, given that it's taken like 7 years to title it at all. lol. i'm bad with names.

redrew something i did a little over a year ago

and like? oh my god? the improvement is crazy. i was originally gonna draw a shark like in the first one i did, but i’m not good at drawing sharks and it’s hard to find good reference pictures.

the old one i did took about 33 hours, which is kinda funny to me since the redraw only took 13. took a 3rd of the time, even though it’s more detailed.

so i noticed these little hearts while replaying the game a few days ago (didn't see them the first time cus i was too focused on reading the text)

so obviously i just had to draw him being silly.

though he probably didn't look anywhere near this cute while he was drawing those hearts (。﹏。*)
