“I– I guess?” Flynn’s eyes shifted nervously from Sheridan to the cashier back to her. What was he supposed to say, really? Did she have any idea how intimidating she was to begin with? The queue moved another step, so did he. At least she seemed more amenable to his suggestion. “Is it really that bad?” Flynn sighed dejectedly.
Tumblr media
“Sort of. You shouldn’t let people walk all over you. Now you’re beating yourself up about it.” Sheridan shrugged. She felt those who were meak were losers who wouldn’t get anywhere in life. Of course, at some point, everyone should bow down to her. But for now, she decided to encourage people to not suck. She didn’t want wimpy followers after all.

At least the bitch was cleaning up her own mess - that was something, but it wouldn’t be enough for Azula. However, she got used to disappointment the moment she stepped foot in America, so this would probably be no different.
“No, I’m not. But hey, I knew that before I met you, sweetheart. You haven’t done anyone a favor here and,” she looked the woman up and down before speaking her next words, “you probably never will, from the looks of it. Too bad.”
Tumblr media
“Do I look like someone who gives a crap? Oh, wow, I’ll never be able to follow my dream of being a fucking therapist for psychopaths. That’s so sad!” Sheridan put her hands on her hips, holding back all subtly as she rolled her eyes before resting an inviting smile on her lip as if asking the stranger to take another shot. If anything she wanted to do nothing but disservice others. It was fair of the girl to assume otherwise, they all came here with a dream, right? Most would assume it was to make the world a better place but Sheridan’s interests lied somewhere else.

Maybe it was the sadness getting to him or some sort of melancholy feeling, but it wasn’t as if he knew he was saying dumb shit. It just seemed right at this time to admit the whole ‘pizza order gone wrong’ situation. Because, at the time, Gaston didn’t understand what had happened, but right now? Right now was different. It didn’t feel… right to play along with her little games. At the same time, he didn’t know how to respond to her question either. “No one knows if they’re saying, as you said, “dumb shit.” Better yet, I don’t say “dumb shit,” that’s just the way you interpret it. Just because you say that it’s dumb, doesn’t mean it is, honey.” The line moved once more, and Gaston walked a few paces forward, shooting a mean glare to the person behind him telling him to ‘scoot up.’ He wasn’t sure where this conversation was going to go after the woman finally paid for her things; where they would go once they both had left this place was a mystery, probably soon revealed to them both.
Tumblr media
“I mean, saying things that are wrong isn’t subjective. Besides you just said you don’t know you’re saying it so how would you know I’m wrong about it?” Sheridan twisted her lips. She decided to ignore is patronizing tone even though it rose frustration in her. It was more in her interest to try and figure out what the hell Gaston was talking about. Why would she be trying to keep talking to him? What did she even want out of him that she continuously pestered him? She contemplated pretending to go the same way as him to continue the conversation before catching herself on how unlike her that sounded. In her thought, she hadn’t noticed how heavy her shopping bag was. While trying to lift it as though it was light, the unexpected weight twisted around to the other side of her arm, subsequently knocking over a display rack next to the cash. Gum and candy sprawled itself on the ground in front of her. Great. Her bad day continues.
“Fuck.”

“T-that’s not it!” Flynn protested, cheeks heating up with embarrassment. “I- I’ll pay for my own things, of course! I’m- I really- I really just need to be on time and that idea made sense in my mind but-” He bit his tongue, realizing that his rambling probably wasn’t doing much to help his case. “Sorry. I. That was weird.” For a moment he considered just letting her take his spot but a quick look at his phone’s clock told him that really wasn’t an option. “I-uh. Yeah. That. If that’d work for you that’d be really helpful–” The queue moved and he hastily made to follow it.
Tumblr media
“Yeah, fine, Jesus.” Sheridan took her place behind him in line. She wasn’t used to people being so easy to push around. In fact, everyone in her life liked to challenge her and make her fight to be heard. She did enjoy when people listened to her but, in this case, it sort of weirded her out. She couldn’t quite place why. “You’ve gotta calm down, you know? Are you always this jittery?”

fireprincessazula‌:
The comment Azula received in return made no sense. “As if. You fell over your own feet, idiot,” she hissed, not wanting to shout and make a scene but still wanting to put the woman in her place. “Don’t blame me for your stupid mistakes.” Even if she wasn’t going to pay for Azula’s shoes, she was going to look like a fool in front of all the people in the store, and it was going to be a source of entertainment.
“Yes, definitely. Me doing something nice for the first time in months is exactly what made this shit happened. No good deed goes unpunished,” she rolled her eyes, stepping into one of the eggshells as the woman bent down. Her shoes were ruined anyways.
Tumblr media
Sheridan put the carton on the counter and turned her attention back to the girl. It was a challenge. They were engaged in a battle of words and, although in angered Sheridan, it also excited her. This seemed like a worthy opponent.
“Clearly you’re not built to be nice then. Some people aren’t. Wow, look at that, I just helped you learn something about yourself. A life lesson, if you will. Maybe you should be paying me for your time, sweetie.”

Normally, in situations like these, anger would take absolutely no time at all to practically explode its way out of Gaston’s system, but today? Today he wasn’t feeling it. In fact, her words almost made him… sad. He didn’t have the energy to fight back. His dream couldn’t be going worse, but feeling like this sucked more than the fact that becoming a model was more work than he thought, so the man sucked air, enlarging his chest, and looked down at the insulter. “I know quite well what part of my words were, and I quote, ‘stupid,’” he replied, air quotes and all. “You didn’t actually want your pizza.” Luckily, he remembered at the last minute, otherwise he really would have looked incredibly dumb. Which, he was, but other people didn’t need to know that. Even he actively convinced himself he was smart on a daily basis. “Look, it’s your turn, honey,” he continued, motioning for her to move forward. “If I was weak, my arms would be getting tired by you taking so damn long.”
Tumblr media
She shook her head but stepped forwards in line seeing that she’d left a gap. Sheridan took his clear showing of defence mechanisms as a win for her. The strange thing was was when insulted someone and felt she’d won, suddenly it is boring to do so again...at least for a little while. The game was over or something like that. But his words were peculiar, not that this was particularly uncommon.
“Look, I’m not trying to pick a fight with you, seriously, You just make it really easy. If you know you’re saying dumb shit why do you keep saying it? Like, all the time?”

fireprincessazula‌:
Azula should have known her little random ‘act of kindness’ (or whatever it was - it wasn’t really kindness, she was just too tired to argue) would blow up in her face.
Well, she couldn’t have known, and that was exactly the problem. The other woman, despite the horrific little nickname she used, seemed to hold herself together much like Azula did, but clearly, she’d been judged wrong when she dropped an insane amount of eggs - and on Azula’s rather expensive new shoes, as well. “Fuck,” she hissed, in sync with the other. “Well, babe, you owe me new shoes.”
Tumblr media
“Cool, you owe me new eggs.” Sheridan snapped back, annoyed that the first response to her accident was of that nature. There was no way in hell that she would be paying for some random stranger’s clothes, even if she did mess them up. It was just egg, it would barely even stain. She picked the carton from the ground, not worrying about the yolks as she saw the storekeeper was heading to the back for a mop anyways.
“Don’t get your panties in a twist, kiddo. Maybe it’s your fault for letting me pass in the first place.” Clearly not true but, hey, projecting faults onto others is a pretty nice way to do things sometimes.

Gaston groaned. Normally, an insult like that would really work his inner fire, but today just… wasn’t that day. He wasn’t feeling himself. Everything felt… dragged on; his dream felt like it was getting nowhere and that was really messing with his self-esteem. A true tragedy for Gaston since he was so used to feeling like practically a God. “Don’t act like you don’t know me, little girl. You’re the one ordered a pizza and then didn’t want it.” This wasn’t the case, but Gaston never had been one to have a good memory, making him sound pretty idiotic at times, right now being one of them.
Tumblr media
“Wow, you’re really like the dumbest person in the world, aren’t you? That’s probably what Astra thought was so special about you to let you in here. Maybe you’re like an experiment for them. They want to see how a brain so tiny even works.” Sheridan smirked, keeping her voice down enough so that the other’s in the line didn’t see her being rude to the one who just let her cut.
“The best part is you probably don’t even know what part of what you just said was stupid. Here’s a hint; it’s all of it.”

Flynn was late. It had been weeks since he’d been late for vocal lessons (then again, it had been weeks since he’d left the compound, so no surprise there) and of course this was exactly the day his body had decided to completely ignore his alarm clock. He’d also run out of coconut water and only noticed too late, so by stopping by the store and getting breakfast there he hoped he might be able to save a bit of time. He didn’t account for other people talking to him in the line in front of the register. Flynn flinched at being addressed, relaxing only after vaguely recognizing Sheridan from around Astra.
“I–I’m really sorry, I’m– running kinda late–” He mumbled, clearing his voice in an attempt to get rid of the raspiness sleep had left behind. “Uh. D-do you have… the money for that, like. On hand already? If we pay at the- at the same time– we’d get our stuff in one go.”
Tumblr media
“Ah, fuck, dude. Now you’re making me feel bad about it. Or are you just using this an excuse to get me to pay for your shit? If so, then that’s a good move. If your so desperate, I can just cut behind you or something?” Sheridan shook her head. Of all the people she had to pick it had to be this guy. She’d picked him because he seemed like a bit of a pushover, like he’d be afraid to be anything but nice in this situation. Now she looked like the jerk.

The past month left Adrien with a bad taste in his mouth. Oddly enough, one that could only be treated with cheese. He couldn’t explain it but it was a craving that left him wanting more. After running out of what he had at home he had to go out and pick up more. The wait at the register was longer than he had expected but he was in no rush. That’s why he had no objections when the woman behind him asked to cut in line. “There’s no need for the long explanation. Of course, you can go ahead of me.” Moving aside, he allowed her to move ahead of him. “Are you going to ask the next person and continue making your way up?” he asked with only a slightly teasing tone.
Tumblr media
“Nah, I cut in here because it seemed like the best spot. I don’t want to be that asshole who cuts in front of ten people so...just five will do.” The odds of acceptance were better that way. Even if she felt she deserved to be first for everything, Sheridan knew you had to play the game and make compromises.

fireprincessazula‌:
It was only a few items. Really, it shouldn’t have been a problem, but Azula felt like shit. She’d gotten sick because of some asshole who’d coughed on her, probably giving her the same life-threatening illness that forced the compound into lockdown for an entire month, and she was not having a good day.
But Azula also had a lot of items that needed scanning and paying for, and she wanted them home as soon as possible - but that, apparently, was too much to ask. She remembered her father’s words, though, to fit in and make something of herself, and everyone else seemed to be giving the girl sympathetic looks, so she wordlessly moved her items back so the other dark-haired girl could move in front. “Fine. If you must.” As long as she didn’t make a habit of it.
Tumblr media
A small triumphant smirk on her face, Sheridan moved up in the line. It seemed like the stranger didn’t want to agree but was pressured by her little sob story, not that it was even particularly sad.
“Thanks, babe. I-” As she moved to scoot past, Sheridan bumped into a nearby shelf and, of all things, her twelve pack of eggs dropped from her hand and between the two girls. Yolk pooled onto the ground, soiling their shoes. Karma? Maybe. But probably just Sheridan being distracted by her own ego. She looked down at the mess she’d made, all eyes on her now. “Fuck.”

“When were things going to get easier?” That was the thought going through the mind of the man making his way through the grocery store, a bit distracted by his own brain. He really wished that his dreams would take off much easier than they currently were. So far, during his time here at Astra – which had been since May – he’d had a few gigs, but absolutely nothing worthwhile. What was it people were saying during his first few days while he was passing out fliers? Something about calling people? His mind was so focused on the past that he almost walked right into the woman behind him in line, but it was just as he realized she was even there that he was thrust into a conversation. “Yeah, sure, whatever,” he muttered, letting her pass. It was a few minutes following when Gaston put two and two together. “Haven’t I met you before?”
Tumblr media
Sheridan tilted her head, it’d been a while since she’d seen him and for that she was thankful. Was he really so dim-witted that he didn’t remember her though? Either way, he’d already allowed her to cut and so she shuffled ahead to take her place before he did recognize her. Alright, now she could speak.
“I don’t know, big guy. You sort of look familiar but your face is pretty unremarkable so I could just be thinking of someone else. Thanks anyways though.” Sheridan sighed, knowing such a statement would probably bother him.

Sheridan held her bottle of soda under her arm, a bag of chips and pack of eggs in her left hand, and her wallet in her right. She didn’t want to wait long, she expected to be in and out of the store in a minute and yet four people stood in between her and the cashier. Swinging her hair from her face, she approached one.
“Hey, hi, uh, look, I’m in a hurry and I’ve been having a really shitty day. I already broke a nail and it’s not even noon. I know, just the cherry on top of a month of quarantine. Anyways, what I’m trying to say is...can I cut in front of you?”

The sight of the candle being lit was surprising – mostly because Tink didn’t expect Sheridan to actually do it – but also a pretty sight. The way the flame took over the wick and brought light into the world brought wonder into Tink’s eyes. These were not the thoughts she was used to having when it came to fire. They were new, and maybe even semi-scary. The endearing term was one that brought on an eye-roll before there was a response. “How does your magic work? It’s fire, obviously, and… like…,” Tink played with her hands as she tried to come up with words, “so, are you supposed to use it to burn stuff? Or like… do you just do that because you’re… you? You do enjoy a good show? Because I like to see things grow. That’s why I’ve always gotten so upset with the fires.”
Tumblr media
For some reason, it was cute to watch Tink figure her out. Anyone else would’ve come off as annoying. At least it assured Sheridan that she was mysterious. Truly, Sheridan wanted to rule the world and needed the fire power to do it. Once her magic was more controlled, she’d be a force to be reckoned with. But all good things take time, and she trained for years with little improvement from her teenage years. She just couldn’t understand why it was still so erratic.
“Am I supposed to burn stuff? I mean, it is fire, isn’t it? It burns stuff. I don’t think anyone knows the true purpose of their magic, you just gotta follow it and try to make it stronger, hm?” Sheridan raised her brow, leaning back. Tink really was trying to analyze her thought process but Sheridan expected her to get no where.
“I guess I do like seeing things burn. Shows me my magic is working, shows me what it’s capable of, I feel connected to it. Probably the same way you feel when you watch shit grow.” Hey, snuffing life out of plants is just one step away from larger things.

When she was just starting out, Anya hadn’t been made aware of whether her powers counted for good or for bad. If anything, her powers were first used in vain, desperate to find an answer to the questions she’d been asking for over a decade. But when she realized she needed to use her powers for others and not just for herself, she changed perspective. It was probably why she didn’t mind Sheridan; at least, a little less than the other good witches. She understood her, in a way.
Anya raised her eyebrows, nodding. “Yes, let’s… not blow the roof. It would be like Wizard of Oz.” An image of the house landing on the Wicked Witch of the the East came to mind, and she was very sure that wasn’t what they had in mind. She sighed, shaking her head at the question. “No, not really. Visions are vague sometimes — all I saw for this were locked doors. I did not think it meant anything.”
Tumblr media
“Hm...Well then...Fuck.” Sheridan put her hands on her hips, looking around for anything she could use a quick charm on. Unfortunately, she wasn’t versed or acute enough for anything she could think of in this environment.
“Uh, we could always pop open the top in a non-blow-up way and then float up the elevator shaft. Then, um, wing it from there I guess? Expect I dunno how to open that.” Sheridan indicated the ceiling which was panelled but had no sign of vent or anything else easily removable. It might be more logical that they just wait for help rather than damage property but Sheridan was more of an act-first kind of witch.

Sheridan was not on good terms with most of the other witches at the compound. Just her luck that they all liked to use their magic for good. Sheridan didn’t really consider herself evil, not that she would mind if others branded her so, but rather a neutral force. She didn’t go out of her way to harm anyone but she certainly didn’t care if she did. At the very least, she respected Anya who had never outright rejected her methods. Of course, she would really rather not be stuck somewhere with anyone. It almost felt familiar.
“Me? Not particularly. Unless you counting blowing open the roof as a way. I would save it as a last resort though, could land on us and stuff.” Sheridan gritted her teeth, seething at the scenario but rather tempted to try something that extreme if it meant getting out faster. “What about you? Didn’t you sense this coming or something?”
Tumblr media
@shegoes
Anya wasn’t sure of how many other witches were in the compound aside from her friends, but she’d never been one to deny anyone friendship without good reason. And while the situation of getting stuck in the elevator with someone you didn’t know all that well wasn’t ideal, she considered herself lucky that the younger girl had enough decency to not attack her in the first few minutes. If she could use her powers to figure out exactly how this would turn out, she would; but unfortunately it didn’t work that way. “So,” she started. “Know any way to fix this?”

Turning to face Sheridan, in contrast to facing the hallway only moments prior, Tink rolled her eyes. Normally, she’d be extremely pissed off right now, but the logic behind the other’s girls was making her more… calm, she guessed. “Whatever, Sheridan.” She wasn’t completely mad, but the response did annoy her. Then again, her enemy’s presence did that on more than occasion before this day, so Tink wasn’t really surprised.
Soon enough, they’d made it to her and she twisted the key to unlock the door. “Make yourself at home,” turning her head over her shoulder, Tink added in, “just don’t burn anything. Well, unless you want to start that candle over there. Hope that isn’t too boring for you.” There was an odd chuckle that left Tink’s lips as she set her things down on the countertop. She let the bag sit, figuring she didn’t need to put everything away just yet. Instead, she came back to the main area, letting herself fall into the white couch that had come in the apartment. “So, tell me more about this magic of yours. I’m curious now about what exactly you’re capable of accomplishing.”
Tumblr media
Sheridan barely had to lift a finger to light the candle and still the flame emitted a few sparks, it fluttered about before becoming a stable glow. Usually she wasn’t the obedient type but she didn’t want to be sitting around in the dark. Sheridan eyed Tink’s room, plants and trinkets covered a majority of surfaces. It wasn’t uncommon for a witch to have lots of things but she noted the difference in materials between the two.
“What do you want to know, kiddo? That’s a pretty broad question. Uhh, I mean, I’m assuming you don’t want my life story.” Sheridan had the feeling that Tink saw her as a bad witch and herself as a good witch. Sheridan wasn’t looking to be understood as good after all, she wasn’t looking to prove herself to Tink, if anything she just wanted to see what would happen.
