#im not done. adding more. sorry#the clothes just make all other cats more naked in comparison.#and where did they even get the clothes.#(ik i said without comparison to the stage version but#i feel like i need to add here#it works in the stage version bc the agreement with the audience is a different one.#On Stage these are clearly actors in costume acting as cats.#there is More suspension of disbelief because the relationship between audience and actors is different#and we are more Aware that this is A Play.#the movie falls short here because we are used to Less suspension of disbelief in this format.#Compare to a fake slap in theatre vs a slap in a movie#in theatre of course A wont (usually) actually hit B in the face#but the motion + sound make me in the audience go Ah. A slap. I see.#if you put this straight into a movie the viewer would very quickly go#Well. A didnt even make contact? What is This? if you get my point#ANYWAYS)#oh god this is so so so extremely long im sorry OP.#ill end it here with one last Question.#why did they decide to clip one of munkustraps ears?#because this makes it look like he was TNRd which. has horrifying implications.

#Cats 2019#if i were in the business of making video essays ohhh. OHHH.#itd be so over.#alas i am not. so instead. tag spam. sorry op. feel free to ignore.#ANYWAYS. i saw this movie 5 times in theatre#(4 times during its initial run 1 time in a private showing)#and it fascinates me.#both positively and negatively though mostly negatively unfortunately.#for one . it neglects so much of the characterisation choices the musical makes#but also if you do NOT compare it to the stage version#it just makes very ??? choices.#like. way way wayyy too many close ups.#why do we have so many dancing cats if we will just zoom in on these actors faces so much?#and WHY do we need all of the singing to be done live for this#its a Movie. you CAN dub over it. but nooo#mr hooper wants this all live.#but it doesnt Add to It.#and its especially baffeling considering how much cgi is visually used.#like. theres a break in logic here (to me)#not to mention the cgi and costume design choices are#well. Mh.#so this is supposed to Feel Realistic and like these creatures actually exist/live their lives there.#but it hardly follows internal logic which just constantly breaks immersion.#so these cats live in a human world. okay fine. sure.#why does the human world have a milk bar?#this wouldnt matter if we agreed on a Phantastical Setting or smt beforehand.#but it feels like the film doesnt REALLY want to be fantastical.#same with the designs. okay these ppl are cats. im following.#i might not like the cats designs per se but im willing to commit.#but then some of these cats actively wear clothes? why?
