fidaa is a 29 year old woman from gaza with two very young children, muhammed and sila, one of whom was born during the war. her home was destroyed and she’s been displaced many times, and is currently separated from the rest of her family- her husband, her many siblings, and her parents. i can only imagine how nerve-wracking this is.

she’s doing her best to take care of her children by herself, despite facing hunger, thirst, widespread disease, and the threat of death. the other day, there was intense bombing near her and another family close to her was killed. life in gaza right now is hell and she told me they feel like they are just waiting for their turn to die.

fidaa and i talk often, and i feel lucky to know her. she’s an incredibly strong person, she travels long distances to find limited supplies for her kids and helps her siblings raise money even though shes separated from them.

The whole world witnessed the tragedy that struck our lives in Gaza, where my family and I survived many previous wars. But today we face the most dangerous and fiercest battle in the current war. We are in urgent need, as we have nothing left and are unable to secure our basic needs of food, water and safe shelter.😍💔

Here is our story - On October 7th, our lives changed forever, as my family and I were evacuated from southern Gaza to West Mawasi Khan Yunis, hoping to return soon, but it was not meant to happen. It was a new house I built before the war, it cost me a lot of money and I couldn't be happy with it. It was surrounded, burned, and then completely destroyed. Our home, once a bastion of hope, is now in ruins, a stark reminder of our shattered dreams.

The night before we left for Mawasi Khan Yunis al-Bahr was terrifying. The sounds of bombing were everywhere, making a loud noise that seemed to penetrate our souls. We are a family of 6 people, my father, my mother, me, my brother and two sisters. We were living a beautiful life in peace. I was on the verge of high school and preparing myself to study medicine. This has been my dream since childhood. Suddenly, the war happened. At first, we stayed in our house and did not leave. After the bombing intensified, we decided to move to southern Gaza. From here, the great suffering began. We started moving around southern Gaza until we finally settled in a small tent. We began to suffer from severe diseases due to the spread of epidemics, the polluted water we drink, and the unhealthy food. In short, our lives became like hell. Then we received the news of the burning of our house and the burning of all of my father’s exhibitions. We lost our entire source of livelihood, so we had nothing left.
