“...”
Yuri still stayed silent for an almost uncomfortable period of time before speaking up again.
“...I am very sorry you all had to see all of that. I thought that side of myself was gone forever. I apologize for the things I said while my other file was loaded,” she replied, her voice just above a whisper. She sounded exhausted...

A sharp pain.
A gasp of air.
A blinding light.
Tumblr media
Yuri could sense one less presence in the room with her as she shakily pushed herself up into a sitting position. She was back in her own room. She glanced around for a moment, and sure enough, her friend was gone.
…her friend?
She paused for a moment. Yuri used to be terrified of Monika. After all, she’d become a horrible person because of the changes in her code. But seeing her like this, and seeing her genuinely apologetic and wanting to help— it made her feel like they were back in the Literature Club, and Monika was helping her through an anxiety attack or something. And nothing had ever happened with him.

Yuri hesitated for a good few seconds. “The save file hurt when it loaded... and it stayed like that for a while. But, u-um...” she mumbled, not sure she wanted to admit this. “I didn’t mind at all for some reason. All of a sudden... I... e-enjoyed the pain. It felt more like something exhilarating than something harmful or dangerous. I don’t feel that way anymore, thankfully, but... thinking about it now worries me,” she admitted. “Other than that... I think I’ve told you just about everything. That's not something I'm proud to admit, I just figured... if you're the one helping, it would be counterproductive to try and hide it from you...”
Monika had always been looking for an opportunities to apologize to her club members since the events that went down -- But it seems like she didn't really have a chance, did she? She was stuck, and besides, it was doubtful that they'd want anything to do with her. But, here she was. Yuri was here now, and upon hearing how messed up in the brain she was in the moment she didn't have a choice other then apologizing and trying to fix what she caused.
It had been a while since she was in that room, and it was completely empty. It gave off a disturbingly vibe, but it was much better than an empty, space-like void beyond the Literature Club. With a bit of coding, and confidence, she eventually gathered herself. She was in.

Yuri immediately tensed, feeling a sudden sensation of not being alone. She quickly turned around to see Monika— who happened to simultaneously be the person she most expected to see in this place and the person she least wanted to see in this place. “…oh, wonderful. What are you doing here?” Yuri snapped. ”Come to ruin my life again? How are you planning on doing it this time? As much as I want MC for myself, I’m sure you won. Congratulations, he likely hates me forever now. And I haven’t even spoken to my friends since that last day. So give it your best shot, why don’t you? Do I have anything else for you to take away from me?”

“How am I feeling?” Yuri repeated, taking a deep breath. “Well, I… something in my body feels wrong. Like it shouldn’t be there. Aside from that, there’s this… th-this dull pain throughout my entire body that won’t go away. It hurts a lot, but... it feels fine...” Something inside Yuri was telling her not to listen, not to cooperate— but it felt more like another entity than her own thoughts, so she decided not to listen. “I’m… Yuri. I’m… in high school. I was friends with you, and… and Natsuki, and Sayori, and… him,” she added, hesitating a bit before listing Natsuki. Realistically, she knew Natsuki was her friend, but right now, she could barely think of her as anything more than competition… “We were all in the Literature Club together. Then... something happened to Sayori, and... my personality changed. I... I stabbed myself when he rejected me, woke up somewhere else to continue my life, learned my whole life was a set-up to a dating simulator, and then got t-transported here. That’s all I can think of, my mind is... spinning...”

what the fuck did i miss i am confusion
[ Hey hey! I’ll answer this out of character to be as clear as possible! ]
[ Alright, so Yuri was sent an M!A that basically transported her to the room in the game that Monika talks to you in in Act 3, which just so happens to be located in the same void as where Monika is right now. After a few asks, the game realized that it didn’t recognize Yuri’s .chr file, so it uploaded her old .chr file to her body. The one Monika messed with. So now she remembers all the way up to and including dying, and her personality is as obsessive and creepy as it was at the end of Act 2. Hope this helps! ]

“Talk to Monika?” Yuri repeated, confusion clear in her voice. “Oh, my apologies, was I not clear? You don’t have to do any of that stuff, I can talk to her myself and get that all set up!”
Tumblr media
While looking for something new to do to put some variety into your day, you stumbled across a simple-looking game online— Doki Doki Literature Club. It seemed to be a visual novel-style dating simulator— so, easy enough, right? You could probably be a beginner and breeze through this. You downloaded it, and for the first bits of the game, everything seemed normal— except for the warning when you booted the game up.
This game is not suitable for children or those who are easily disturbed.
Other than that odd warning, the game seemed nice— you were childhood friends with a girl named Sayori, who begged you to join the Literature Club that she happened to be the vice president of. When you showed up later that, there seemed to be three other girls in addition to Sayori— who seemed to be busy in a conversation with one of the other girls… better not bother her.
But you needed to talk to someone here— otherwise, you wouldn’t know what was going on. (And the game wouldn’t progress.) Fortunately, the first person you spotted didn’t seem to be incredibly busy.
Tumblr media
Sitting in one of the desks closest to the door was a tall girl with long purple hair, twirling a lavender pen with white highlights in her hand as she looked intently at the page in front of her, idling as she seemed to be trying to think of what to write. Maybe you should approach her while she isn’t working…?

“...” Yuri fell silent for a moment. Even though her head was telling her that this was how she always acted, that this was all right, something deep inside her seemed to be insisting that whatever was happening right now was wrong. A persistent feeling of incongruity, manifesting itself in a knot in her stomach. “It won’t mean anything,“ she scoffed. “You can try to fix me all you like, it won’t change anything for you. He’ll still be out of your reach. It won’t change what’s already happened. So... if you have no other motivation, then I suppose you really are sorry. Which is odd.” Again, she paused, considering it. “Go ahead. Give it a shot. I won’t be able to do anything about it if you use this opportunity to make it worse or manipulate me further, but just know that you’ll have to live with the fact that I gave you a chance and you tossed it aside. ...either way, make it quick, please.”

“A-Ah, um... thanks. That’s very kind of you, Tori,” she nodded, taking the poem back. “I’ve had this idea in the back of my head for a while, but I was working on it before you got here, and while you were working on yours,” she explained.

“And why should I believe you?” Yuri scoffed, taking a defensive step backwards. “What made you sorry for everything that you did? What changed your mind from ‘manually altering my friends’ personalities to make them unlikable and drive them to suicide is okay’ to ‘actually, I’m sorry now’? I can’t... I can’t put my finger on what I’m supposed to be like, but I do know that once my body adjusted to this place, your version of me loaded, and it feels wrong in my body. Shouldn’t you be happy to see me like this? I’m your perfect little experiment. Everything turned out just how you wanted it to. So why in the world do you expect me to believe you’re sorry? Because he deleted you and you’re lonely?” she added, her tone cold and biting.
