Jessie and Genesis are actually pretty good friends, who originally hit it up through Loveless and actually dated for some very sad 3 month. They realised they are so much better of as chaotic bi besties.

She also later introduces Genesis to avalanche.

How much money do you guys think Shinra spends on suppressing and manipulating the news so they don't report about all the bullshit the firsts get up too.

Because 'Soldier first class Genesis Rhapsodos get's drunk, tries out lightning materia and proceeds to fry the entire city power grid' is not good PR.

'mysterious incident causes city wide blackout' also isn't good PR but much more manageable.

Au where Genesis decides to come back and try to snatch Sephiroth away from Shinra during his first attack on the tower

Sephiroth is fighting wave after wave of G-copies, dissociating more than a little because he’s having to kill the spitting image of one of his best friends over and over again. He slices through the neck of one, bats away another, impales a third coming up behind him—

Only to realize a second later that oh, that last one really was Genesis, as he drops Rapier with a cry of shocked agony so similar to that first one in the training room.

He finds himself cradling his bleeding friend in his arms, the battle around them forgotten, as Genesis weakly snarls at him. Sephiroth ineffectively shoves Curaga after Curaga at him, but it does little—the curse of degradation. Genesis’ wing flutters weakly as he tries to suppress his rising fear. Angeal comes barging in screaming his name, but Genesis passes out soon after.

Bad ending: Genesis dies right there in their arms. Sephiroth never forgives himself, and Angeal never fully recovers from losing his oldest friend like that. But they lean on each other, and do all they can to win the freedom Genesis had been fighting for.

Good ending: Angeal rushes Genesis, barely clinging to life, back to Hollander. Sephiroth follows, much more concerned with making sure his friend is healed from a wound he caused than with ensuring the safety of Shinra board officials. It’s the training room scare all over again, with the both of them standing in tense silence as they wait to see if Hollander can save him. Neither of them trust him, but it’s the only option they have. This time, they press harder about why Sephiroth isn’t able to do the blood transfusion—and Hollander caves, finally. Genesis is cured, and mollified by Sephiroth all but prostrating himself before him begging forgiveness. They all burn Shinra to the ground together and retire to the countryside where Genesis and Zack can be increasingly territorial with each other over Angeal while Angeal flirts with Sephiroth
