Okay, now I'm curious. Zack's adventures of 'what are you doing? Spit it out' like a dog, but has Cloud had anything similar? What dumb shit has he done and was witnessed by AGSZ?

Cloud's version of "what are you eating?? Spit it out!" is about his strength and skill that he refuses to acknowledge. The boy has self-esteem issues so profound that he doesn't realize he's out here performing feats of supernatural absurdity on a daily basis. AGSZ have all personally witnessed some variation of "Cloud, what the fuck."

Sephiroth: He once watched Cloud rip a reinforced steel door handle clean off like it was a cheap plastic toy. They made eye contact. Cloud, sweating bullets, tried to shove the handle into the nearest decorative plant as if that would somehow erase the evidence.

Zack: The cute secretary at the SOLDIER floor entrance thinks Zack sprained his wrist rescuing a flock of baby chocobos from the jaws of a Zolom. It's not that he's ashamed of the truth, it's that if Angeal didn't believe Zack when he told him he challenged Cloud to an arm wrestling match and was promptly decked through a table, neither will she.

Angeal: He had the great honor of handing Cloud the Buster Sword for the first time, warning him "It's heavier than it looks." Cloud casually picked up the giant slab of metal—the same one Angeal had spent years training with and perfecting its balance—and spun it around like a child flipping a toy sword. He even had the audacity to say "Boy, Commander Hewley, this thing sure is light! Are you sure it's safe for combat?" Angeal had to lay down, Zack had to fan him.

Genesis: His personal favorite moment was the time Cloud went looking for something under a massive, incredibly heavy Shinra-issued desk—one that had taken three SOLDIERs to move into position. Everyone had made peace with the fact that lost items under there were gone forever. But not Cloud. Oh, no. Cloud casually lifted the entire desk with one hand. No strain, no effort, just "Found it! Oh look, I also found some gil, a Loveless The Musical™ CD, Zack's Shinra ID, and a summon materia! You guys must really not care about this stuff if it was just left under here all this time, hehe."

Genesis quelled his shock and demanded to be carried everywhere for the rest of the day.

13. Dumbest thing they’ve ever done

Angeal: took care of a fake plastic plant like it was a real one for several days before he noticed. This may or may not have been the result of a prank which he retaliated against in kind with extreme prejudice

Genesis: someone went through all his hardcovers and flipped their covers. He was really out of it one night and picked up one of his hardcover copies of Loveless. It took him much longer than it should have to realize that he was holding it upside down because the cover had been switched around and reading not off the page but from his own memory

Sephiroth: not letting his friends in on what he was dealing with with shinra hthrhrhh probably when Angeal forgot to give him a fork so he assumed the food he had been given (mac n cheese) was just supposed to be eaten with your hands. Genesis has a picture of the result framed in his apartment

Zack: repeatedly runs into poles/doorframes/etc quite often. He gets distracted talking to people or just by his own thoughts and completely forgets to watch where he’s going. Another contender: really liked being turned into a frog by various touch mes back in Gongaga, had to be rescued from this many times by his poor harried parents. Have you ever seen a frog do squats? Sotetsu has. Frequently

Cloud: Sephiroth passed by him in the hallways once. What ensued due to his nerves from that resembled some looney tunes or tom and jerry cartoon in its slapstick physical comedy. He tripped over himself in ways that should not be possible for the human body to achieve. He fell up the stairs

14. Most heroic moment

Angeal: we have not seen it play out in its entirety yet, but—there’s something to the simple gesture of just reaching out to your comrade, a scared, abused kid, and making sure he’s alright. Being there for him even when he pushes you away

Genesis: he was genuinely a hero. He may not have been fighting on the right side, he may have been somewhat selfish in pursuit of glory, but he took care of the people around him. Countless times he pushed himself to the brink of (and even over) mana exhaustion healing his fellow SOLDIERs, and troopers as well, himself. He saved a lot of lives that way, and many loved him for it, and were loyal to him for it—their Shinra-appointed commanders never took such care of them. Unfortunately, their loyalty did not pay off how anyone wished it would.

Sephiroth: I’m sorry I just still cannot get over how devastated he was by that random trooper’s death when they fell off the bridge in Nibelheim. He spent actual hours looking for him. The heights of true heroism right before the fall. I’m going to explode

Zack: dragging Cloud across the entire globe for an entire year straight while he was comatose and Zack himself was definitely not anywhere close to okay. And then making sure Cloud survived even when it seemed beyond hopeless—he could have left him and run and lived but he didn’t

Cloud: I so love that he just saw a sick kid and immediately made sure he’d have food and shelter and kindness and help, even when he himself was hurting too. Denzel <3

15. Worst thing they’ve ever done

Angeal: he did fight in the Wutai War, yknow. He probably killed a lot of people that didn’t deserve it, were just defending their homes. It’s that or making Zack kill him, or not reaching out to Seph when he saw he was struggling.

Genesis: killing his parents and whole village is pretty bad. It’s either that or—depending on how you split the blame between him and Hollander’s influence/lies/manipulation, turning his loyal SOLDIERs who stuck by his side into copies, making their lives a living hell. It might have been kinder to kill them.

Sephiroth: I mean. I think this one is fairly obvious 🔥🏠🏔️🗡️

Zack: again, a lot of the effects of just working for Shinra as a SOLDIER. You have to do some pretty bad stuff fighting for them. I could say stealing when he was on the run with Cloud but he had good reason for that and I don’t think it even comes close really

Cloud: leaving his friends when he wants to curl in on himself and shoulder all the burdens of his life on himself, making them worry and pushing them away when they would have been happy—and probably had more peace of mind—to help him

Assorted AGSZC shenanigans because they are sleep deprived and chaotic and wonderful (and so am I).

In no particular order:

Sometimes Genesis and Zack cook to give Angeal (the cook) and Cloud (moral support) a break from cooking. Together the two of them make up a disaster team fuelled by poorly thought out impulse decisions. In their impatience they attempt repeatedly to heat up water faster with a shard of fire materia embedded in the wooden stirring spoon only to cool it down with an ice materia shard when it ends up bubbling over. Repeat indefinitely until something vaguely edible results from it

Cloud makes it his mission to let Sephiroth experience a 'normal' childhood, even if it's a decade and a half too late. Card and board games quickly become a favourite, though they often devolve into violent chaos due to their competitive natures. Only they could make a normal game of Go Fish mimic a battle to the death

Another game they quickly come to enjoy as a group is hide and seek. To even the playing field for Cloud (who isn't enhanced due to the mako allergy, but really is due a promotion - they just don't know to what) the remaining Firsts usually end up either blindfolded or with SOLDIER grade noise cancelling headphones. Cloud calls it fair, Genesis calls it stupid and unflattering, Sephiroth calls it good training for unexpected situations on missions

The one time all five of them are deployed to the same area for a mission they end up playing a real game of hide and seek, all enhancements and other advantages allowed. The remaining troops stationed there with them are sworn to silence after seeing Sephiroth run after Angeal laughing with unrestrained glee before tackling him to the ground. Not exactly good for his image, but great for making him appear more human to them

Despite 'not possessing any feline DNA that he's aware of' Sephiroth really enjoys being treated like a cat and Angeal leans heavily into it - offering treats, attention, the works. When one of them have to get their office chair replaced he quietly asks for the cardboard box it came in and puts it on its side in his living room, covering the bottom of it with soft blankets. On more than one occasion he's found Sephiroth taking a nap there, curled up more than a man of his stature should be able to

In the same vein, Genesis really leans into the thing of Zack being a puppy. It starts as a joke, a nickname stemming from Zack's hyperactivity but after Zack tackles him in the practice room one day and starts biting at him as a way of winning a spar, the nickname sticks. There's a schedule on the fridge of when people take Zack 'for a walk' to get out his energy and in Genesis' living room there's a toddler-sized mattress on the floor covered in blankets for Zack to nap on (after Genesis saw Zack repeatedly curl up on the linoleum flooring, his spine hurts just thinking about it). Zack belongs to all of them, but there's nothing Genesis hates more than hearing Zack referred to as 'Angeal's puppy'. Zack's his, at least in this regard

Out of the five of them, Angeal followed by Cloud are the most likely to sneak into someone else's bed during the night. Angeal enjoys the physical proof of his loved ones being there and Cloud hasn't been able to sleep well for as long as he can remember. More than once they end up meeting in the hallway on their way to find someone to sleep with

The entire soldier floor is covered in bubble wrap. How is everyone dealing with this, and long until Lazard cracks because someone is clearly conducting a social experiment, possibly on him specifically?

Sephiroth: At first: visibly irritated at the constant crisp pop-pop-pop-pop in his ears. The first pop beneath his boot was accidental. The second… was not. Now he's been stuck in popping hell for three hours. He must pop. Can't not pop. It is compulsion, addiction. It's an enriching activity. He paces the halls silent except for the rhythmic snap-snap-snap echoing with him. Has started rearranging his training routines just to maximize popping surface area. Walks up behind Genesis and just… pop. Stares at him. Walks away. It's his favorite form of microaggression. He does it solely to ruin Genesis' day.

Genesis: "Sephiroth. Please. I beg of you. ENOUGH." Has reached the end of his rope. Stuck in a nightmare of sensory overload because someone won't stop pacing like a metronome. Tries to read Loveless and gets interrupted every five seconds by a POP from across the room. Sephiroth pops in beat to the Stamp theme song now. Genesis is in hell. Last anyone saw Genesis, he had both fingers jammed in his ears, power-walking down the hall like a man fleeing divine punishment. Behind him, the divine punishment— Sephiroth— followed aggressively popping the bubble wrap.

Zack: Living his dream. "You can't get hurt if you can't get friction!" is his new battle cry. Has invented seven new stunts, 5 of which involve fire. Security camera footage surfaced of him bubble wrapping the entire floor. Now being hunted by Angeal like a war criminal. Currently hiding in the vents. He knows what he did. He is a fugitive from justice. And also Angeal.

Angeal: Has become a walking PSA. Circles the halls like a stressed mother hen in a school with sugar-addled toddlers. "Don't wrap it around your neck!" "No, that's not food—DON'T EAT IT!" "Kunsel, if I see you jump off that railing one more time—" Constantly pulling Thirds out of burrito-rolls of wrap. Has written five memos on safety protocol, none of which anyone has read. Also furious at Zack. Keeps trying to chase him, popping everywhere he goes like a stampede of popcorn, still lecturing as he vaults over desks and screams "ZACK FAIR YOU ARE GROUNDED UNTIL CHRISTMAS"

Cloud: Doesn't even know what he's doing at SOLDIER (help him). Just trying to get to the infantry barracks. Slipped, hit the floor, bounced into a wall, popped three layers of wrap, and now just refuses to walk like a normal person. Is seen crawling on his hands and knees, popping aggressively. Zack keeps dragging him into stunts. "It's safe, buddy! It's all wrap!" Cloud: "I don't want to be safe anymore. I want death."

Lazard: Has stopped going home. Sleeps under his desk. Has printed out the HR handbook and is eating pages from it. Is now muttering about how SOLDIER is a psychological experiment designed by Dr. Hollander and "they" are watching.

Kunsel: Rolling in gil after selling Zack metric tons of bubble wrap. Absolutely knew what he was enabling, did it anyway, no regrets. He's already printed business cards that say Chaos Supplier. He slipped one beneath Lazard's locked office door and heard Lazard scream and start sobbing.

⌗  i hate to break it to you anon but i gotta slap some angst in here — sephiroth finds himself a bit confused, yet curious watching you among kids. had he been raised as normal kids were, would he have received this sort of attention too..? this kindness that was given without effort or consequences?

⌗  in the beginning he just let you do your thing, hanging out with them as you did while he waited to walk you home later.. but then he was slowly urged to join- by the kids no less.

⌗  he felt awkward, out of place and unsure of how he should act — but everyone was patient with him and something oddly warm began to spread in his chest. you didn’t pressure him into anything either — which he was grateful for.

⌗  the girls would braid brush his hair, place flowers in, and when the boys marveled at his height and overall build, begging to be carried, sephiroth obliged and found himself feeling elated — at peace among them.

⌗  you always told them bedtime stories but over time, the kids began to whisper and ask you if sephiroth could because his voice was so smooth and lulled them to sleep effortlessly

⌗  one time the children found a gray, stray kitten — and didn’t want to give it away.. so it became a combined effort between you, the kids and sephiroth, too.. who felt a strange empathy for the feline. it became an everyday thing from then for all of you to take care of the cat and welcome it among your group<3

⌗  bro is completely awestruck at how well you get along with them, how you have them following you around with such ease and looking all excited when you arrive. literally how is that possible?? it makes no sense..

⌗  but cloud, as stated before, is doing his best. during the times that you ask him to help out, he manages to provide a lending hand in busying them.

⌗  a lot of the kids are in awe with him and want a chance to ride on fenrir with him or learn how to wield such an impressive weapon like he does — so cloud does what he can to indulge in those requests..

⌗  not the best or worst with cooking but he does know some recipes from growing up with his mother and has shared them with you to cook together on occasion for the children<3

⌗  over time cloud does get better with them, becomes more natural and less stiff.. though he can’t help but stop at times and stare when he witnesses you with them — so serene and kind, delicate and careful. unknowingly, it brings a tint smile to his lips and thoughts of the future.

⌗  the kids always tease you guys about getting married and make kissy faces at you guys which has your face burning up with embarrassment meanwhile zack is like hell yeah!! ofc he’s gonna marry you, duh!!

⌗  surprisingly, he’s very good with kids! more so the girls because they’re all heart eyes for genesis, thinking him to be some sort of a prince.. especially with the way he dresses, speaks and carries himself in general..

⌗  he often entertains their fantasies, going along with them and accepting the flowers they picked for him or the colorings they’d hand him — it was just so cute!

⌗  the boys enjoyed to see him in action more with combat, literally watching with stars in their eyes when he fights.. but they always seem to gravitate a little more towards you ahaha..

⌗  genesis has to pinch himself occasionally from staring at you, watching how loving and caring you were towards these random kids that attached themselves so easily to you because you had given them the time of day

⌗  as the kids are lining up for your cooking, so is your boyfriend — he is SO there for that food and is very much enjoying not only the meals you prepare but this overall side of you.. it’s refreshing, he feels special to see it🙁

⌗  organizes a little play for the kids to take part in — of course it’s loveless, it always has to be with him.. and the kids beg him to read it to them at night which brings tears to his eyes. finally some loveless enjoyers!! unlike his friends who make FUN of him..

⌗  always brings baskets of dumbapples to share a piece of home with the kids and even makes different deserts and pastries that he came up with personally! might not do much cooking but baking — and with his hometown’s fruit? yes he will!

⌗  it was by chance one day during a mission that he had ended up helping you out with the kids you regularly took a detour to visit and hang out with, always bringing stuff from your missions — it was super cute honestly😭

⌗  he is a pretty family oriented guy tbh and totally seems like malewife material?? cooks for the kids, cleans up too, patches up them up if they get injured and tells stories to put them to sleep!! he’s doing it all, guys!

⌗  he wants to lessen your load as much as he can but you seem to have things pretty much under control and the kids are just so chill with you — it’s impressive honestly, he might need a tip or two for handling zack..

⌗  he was telling a story one time — about the buster sword, actually, and as attentive as the kids were, even you since it was your first time hearing, you’d ended up fast asleep along with the kids — it was the cutest sight seeing them curled up against you

⌗  games aside, you do try to teach the kids norms and values to keep with them and angeal also throws in a few words about dreams.. honor.. etcetera..

⌗  a few days later the kids ended up making cardboard and wooden cutouts of the buster sword and repeated his words along with the gesture — yourself included..🫣
