Her face became bright red, and her eyes wide at his tender touch, whatever tears had been threatening to fall next, dissipated as she leaned into his touch against her temple. He felt so comforting, so familiar, and yet she couldn't put her finger on why or even tell in what way. He just knew her more than she understood, and had already somehow vindicated her against her would be rapist.
When his lips pressed hers, her eyes widened once more, but soon they closed in a state of bliss. He smelled like blood, viscera, cleaning chemicals, and sweat, but the way he took away her pain was mesmerizing. This man, this murderer was so gentle with her and.. She felt indebted and appreciative. Slowly, she moved her hand up and touched his mask ever so slightly, her eyes just closing and let him embrace her whole mouth, letting him take charge and choose the pace. This whole time, there was never a shred of harm he brought upon her, never purposely let her in harms way, and for that she was grateful. When finally she pulled away for air, she looked at his lips with a soft, doe like expression, filled with admiration.
"Thank you.." She spoke in a soft whisper, her hand very gently touching his tanned, ungloved hand. She knew it was probably a LOT of trust to show even that much of himself, and she really wanted to show how much she appreciated it. "I don't.. have to know who you are, to know that you care.. I'm really grateful."

With a heavy sigh, and the condensation off of her iced coffee in her hands, Serena looked in the mirror of her dorm bathroom, trying to convince herself that she was 100% capable of what she was about to do. School was hard, sure, but it was a great feeling of release to be pursuing a dream and having a firm grasp on it so far. It was having to sit there and accept that being a TA to one of the weirdly unsettling teachers in her department was also a mandatory sacrifice she had to make in order to help pay for said goals to be accomplished. Professor Asa Emory was a man who was handsome, sure, but also seemed to be cold, distant, and also preferred his entomologist specimens over people most of the time. It seemed like a cruel fate that of all the professors to get paired with for the semester, it was the one whose class she was probably the most terrified of trying to pass.
The sound of her phone buzzed, marking the end of her do not disturb mode, and soon she was pulling herself away from the peptalk that.. never seemed to make the talking phase. The slow walk across campus, the feeling of summer ending with the breeze was not as comforting as she would have hoped. The fact that she had a pumpkin spice latte? Eh, maybe that would help, but not as the idea of summer leaving and the cold weather setting in just meant that the seasonal depression and feeling of isolation was imminent. As she looked around at the barely aroused campus quad and entered a large building, she couldn't help but try to shake the nerves.
"C'mon Serena, get with it already.." She muttered under her breath, reaching the office of her new professor. She brushed her outfit a bit from any hidden hairs or dust, took a bravery sip of her latte, and took a deep breath before knocking on his door, her whole demeaner changing.
"Good morning Professor Emory! This is your new TA Serena checking in before the day begins!" She said with a big smile across her face, hoping he was actually in there and that this wasn't like some sad start to her personal anime.
