Life size Deinonychus head sculpt progress!

Few more pics and ramble below cut vvv

Still have the cheek area to do and claws before I can attempt to make molds of this thing (which is SCARY by the way because I’ve been chipping away at this the better part of a year and it could just flop at that stage amskdjdn) but figured I’d take some pictures before I drive back to college tonight because it might be a while till I finish.
The plan is a life size puppet/costume/fursuit or faux taxidermy if that doesn’t work out if you were curious!
Ignore the eye angle it’s just jammed in there lol
#trust me I tried to de-lump it#but with the texture stamps and fact it is built on cardboard it will never be perfect#think I learned my lesson at least#dinosaurs#deinonychus#polymer clay#clay#silverleaf-sculpts

Made myself a new set of texture stamps!

Most of this area will be covered in feathers so I’m saving myself (most of the) work carving individual scales. Deinonychus dinosaur eye - I referenced hawks.
So much more to go… so much day job keeping me away…

#dinosaurs#dinosaur#deinonychus#polymer clay#will be a costume / puppet#or faux taxidermy if that doesn’t work out#silverleaf-sculpts

Prototyping… do you think dinosaur’s eyes pinned? (◕ ◕) (ʘ ʘ)

Will be a deinonychus costume/puppet if I can manage it! Head is life-size, body may not be quite accurate because I’m person-shaped unfortunately.
The eyes have iris mechanisms (like what is inside a camera lens) in the back. Need to remake them a bit smaller, and figure out better materials… hmm
#dinosaur#dinosaurs#deinonychus#would the furries like this yet?#will be made much like a quadsuit#fursuit making#fursuit maker#sfw furry#silverleaf-sculpts#no dialogue in video

Archaeopteryx
Engraving (I guess that is the best term for this? I scraped off the patina) of the Berlin archaeopteryx specimen I made in one of my classes. The copper plate was unfortunately a little beat up so there’s a few odd lines across it but it’s still pretty neat. April 25’

Happy Halloween! I figured I’d take this time to share my favorite ceramic piece to date. This raku fired wolf skull! I am really proud of this piece and extremely happy that it survived the intense raku firing process!
#gorgeous#chickened out of raku for any of my own skulls#maybe if I get in the class next semester I’ll do it#reference

Life size Ceramic Mountain Lion Skull (more pics and thoughts below)

Wips

At around 10 inches front to back and nearly the size of my own head it is definitely pushing the upper end of “life size” and a little crazy for a desk ornament but I loved this project sooo so much! Ceramic ball clay w/t acrylic paints. Carved fall 24’ and finished up a few weeks ago after I got back to campus to pick it up after firing. ALSO it just got accepted into my school art show! It’s not my major so I don’t really know how prestigious that is but I’m happy!

Ceramic Crow Skull
A roughly-life-size stoneware crow skull with acrylic paint. Carved September 24’, bisque fired in January, and finished up a few days ago!
(my first post here, hope I’ve done the tags and such okay! Planning on sharing some of my other ceramics, dinosaur art dolls, and more here soon!)
