"Greetings, innkeeper! Good day to you! Let's see... I will have- Ah. Why art thou looking so oddly at my squire? Yes, t'is my coat on her shoulders! T'is freezing out there, you see! I cannot have her catch a cold, or worse, so desperate measures had to be taken!"

I’m a bit lazy recently
have these jia related (also mirror ID)doodles I created waiting for 8.5 and make Xichun take her lessons and suffer(from too much knowledge)

(I imagined Big bro Qiu lending Hong Lu his suit for him to try on(for no reason)and realize that Qiu holds the belt to stop the pants from falling and not just aura farming )

Also HOW COULD YOU let Ishmael chun die in the mirror world leaving her horse behind :sad emoji::sad emoji:

Okay. Since people were interested. Bloodfiend fam design analysis time because im normal about them and was really bored earlier. I'm not saying my observations are anything particularly new or unique fyi im just going over things i noticed
Largely copypasted from discord messages, but edited to add some of my later realisations plus friend input because i love my friends and their input......this is gonns be a mess regardless i am sorry
Father Quixote goes first as the patriarch of the family.

His design was fairly likely inspired by Dracula from Castlevania because he is also a bishounen with white long hair and an aristocratic flare to him. The colors are fairly standardly vampiric too (though he has a surprisingly little amount of black on him, opting for browns and darker reds as complimentary colors to his usual red). He has a lot of gold detailing on him too, makes his aristocratic status more evident.
His sillouete signals authority as the first kindred. He is taller than most of his children to emphasise this (looking at you, Curiambro. You are so fucking long). I think mostly what says "authority" to me is his coat. Maybe it's the shoulder pads, remeniscent of ones a military general would have, or just how profoundly large it is, making him look a bit more imposing. But at the same time, it makes him look a little...silly. It's oversized, sleeves clearly way too long for his arms. He only ever wears it draped over himself and not properly. As one of my friends, Tarot, described it, "he looks like a kid playing pretend".
Also the symbol he wears is clearly some kind of family crest for the Manchegan Bloodfiends as it is visible on the canopies in the Certain Castle throne room (is that what they're called? I think.).
Next on my list is Sancho, his dear second kindred.
She mirrors Dad Qui's design A BUNCH in her own. Their shoes are near identical, her coat also has the golden shoulderpads (though they are less elaborate than her father's), the lapel pins she has are...vaguely rhombus like, similar to his rhombus necklace and maybe the family crest, copious amounts of gold little ropes as decoration for her outfit. Her hair is a little wavey, similar to the way Dad Qui's (and Dulcinea's, vaguely) hair looks but a bit more exaggerated due to how short it is.
Howevever, the color stands out. among the colors of her family's hair, which are a lot more subdued (either nearly white like dadqui's or dulci's, or mostly black like nica's and curi's), her bright yellow hair stands out a lot.
Another thing they do not share is. The armadura. It is very notably the only pop of red in her design aside from her eyes, and it's size makes her even more noticeable. And all of that is ontop of the fact she is mostly wearing white!
And another thing that makes her different from DadQui is the way she wears her coat shows her as more serious in demeanor compared to her father. It's actually fitted to her and she is wearing it properly, her arms through her sleeves.
That was a bit messy, but what I'm getting at is. She stands out a lot from the rest of her kin and copies a lot of her father's clothing style at the same time.
Now bloodfiend trio...Zone order, so Nicolina, the Barber, first.
Okay, most obvious thing out of the way. Her sillouette is meant to resemble a pair of scissors; Her drilltails forming a shape of handles and the whole lower portion of her body shaping into the metallic portion. The scissor shaped necklace is just adding fuel to the fire there. A true tailor, that's for sure!
She's the only one of the family to be wearing make up this bold. Definetely done moreso for self expression rather than anything else. Same with her nails being painted red and really sharp.
And since she made her own outfit (and Dulci's too, we'll get to that), she made it to suit her own needs, and one of those needs is, as another friend of mine, Brie, pointed out, mobility. The slits in her skirt go all the way down from her waist and there are slits right under the shoulders. This allows for A LOT of freedom of movement, which is perfect for both just generally being active and for combat, which are both things she is profiscent at!
She is in a very standard vampire color scheme, even more so than Dad Qui, as she is near exclusively colored in blacks and reds. But it shouldn't go unnoticed that her main color is also the color assigned to the sin of Wrath, with her erratic and agressive behaviour during the canto.
Oh yeah and her mask. Plague doctor-esque, fitting for a barber, as in ye olden days barbers were not just there to cut your hair, but to perform minor surgical prosedures too, like ripping out teeth or balancing humors.
Curiambro next! The Priest of La Mancha...
Now his outfit is very. Plain in comparison to the other two members of the Bloodfiend trio. Reasonable enough though considering he'd appear publically the least. Not a lot of color on him either, aside from a dusty cyan, which also is the color assigned to the sin of Gloom, which makes sense with how regretful and sorrowful he is over the downfall of lamanchaland to the point of trying to end his own life at some point if Nicolina's words are to be believed.
He has a little tie around his neck tied into a bow, which if you squint might look like an open pair of scissors, so he's very vaguely matching with his barber sister there.
His outfit generally obviously resembles an average catholic priest garb because he priest, but, as Brie pointed out aswell, it is only vaguely doing so. His collar is incorrect, the drapey thing over his shoulders is incorrect. But it is close enough to convey what role he plays in this park.
He also looks the most dead out of. All of them. His skin is paper white, his cheeks are sunken, his eyes have eyebags deeper than the baikal lake, his ears are a bit sharp for some reason. It could be just that maybe he got turned at an older age than the rest, or he was generally more sickly than the rest, or, my assumption, It's the religious guilt thing over drinking human blood physically showing in his appearance. We get to see him in flashbacks only after Dad Qui already joined the war on bloodfiends on the side of humanity, so presumably he gave the order of no bloodsucking already. And with the way Curiambro almost views Dad Quixote as a god with his every word as gospel, he likely stops doing that the earliest out of all his kin. His voice being kinda hoarse adds on to that theory too. His throat is parched, ravaged by thirst...
And the mask he dons, one resembling a skull if a ram...Dare i say. Sacrifical lamb?
And now, Dulcinea. The princess of the parade, the epitome of beauty...
Remember how I said that Nicolina made her her dress? Well, the design doesn't hide it that much, her dress shares a bunch of similarities to the one Nico wears! The frills and pattern details along the ends of them are her signature, we can see it on some of the manchegan bloodbags too. The skirt is similar in structure to Nicolina's, though Dulcinea's is a bit more puffy and has no slits in it. The way the sleeves end is the same with both dresses too, though the way the sleeve is structured closer to the top is different.
Generally, Dulcinea shows a lot less skin than Nicolina does, but she doesn't necessarily even have to. The only part of Dulcinea's outfit that shows skin is...The chest part. And when everything else is covered, the chest becomes the focal point. The contrast of dark colors of her corset and skirt detailing against her white hair also draws attention to her waist and hips. And then there's her headpiece and umbrella which also draw attention to her face, which notably does not have any bright makeup on it unlike Nicolina's, only her natural beauty. Because to people around her, Dulcinea is beautiful and not much more than that. Dehumanised and set up on a piedestal for everyone to see.
Her outfit is adorned with flower patterns, flowers being often torn out of the ground or cut up for their beauty (thanks my friend Pebble for pointing that out). And her mask, that covers her face the least out of the previoisly shown, is in the shape of a butterfly...Which insects most often get nailed down for decoration because of pretty patterns? Butterflies.
Her main color is purple, the color of the sin of Envy. And it parallels her envy towards Sancho and her father, for their twinkling, dreamy eyes. For their ability to suppress their bloodfiend instincts, for their excitement for tomorrow.
Bonus feature; Cassetti
I dont have much to say here. I just wanna point out that to me it kinda looks like he's trying to be like either dadqui or sancho when he transforms into his battle form. It's mostly because of that shoulder thing he has because it's on the same shoulder as Sancho's armadura.

Like...it's there.

Control Through Culture and the Lack of It
Ok so before we get started here I would like to just give a big thank you to everyone who came to my panel during the convention all the way back in September and listened to me ramble out the first draft of this! We had some great discussion and everyone brought up great points that all came together to make this post happen, and it wouldn’t have been nearly as good without all of your input! I also profusely apologize for taking this long to get this done, but sometimes you have 18 college credits and 30 hours a week of work that have to come first! Now, on with the topic:
