Why did you want to 'give the people what they want'? You could have done anything and people would have came. And also thank you for being amazing I loved intercative introverts!

the show is a social experiment. it asks, what should the relationship be between artists and their fans?

should creators be strictly authentic to themselves and just make what they are inspired to make, or should they do what the followers that support them want? should tv show writers listen to the fandoms? should bands not change their sound for the next album in case people don’t like it? when people grow and change with time and want to do new things, how does that change the relationship with their audience that love them for one specific creation or point in time? is there a middle ground? does this question need to have a definitive answer?

for ‘dan and phil’ the answer right now is - we don’t care about all those questions, we just want to give the people what they want.

if this show was the last thing we ever did, what would we want to? for us, honestly, just make our audience happy. there’s plenty of time in the future to do whatever we want, but right now we had an opportunity to do something much bigger than for just us two individuals, but for all of you to celebrate the thing that is ‘dan and phil’, the people that like it and our memories together.

it’s not as simple as that though. who are ‘the people’? what do you want from us? do you all want the same things? why do you want them? who are dan and phil anyway? why do people like them?

what’s actually important at the end of the day? on top of all this, we’re two socially awkward nerds that struggle to leave the house to shop for food embarking on a world tour, how ironic.

this is the show: ‘interactive introverts’. for two emotional hours of improv/sketch/stand-up comedy with an ace production - the audience is control, but what will they do? what you see in the film is just the response from one of our audiences in l.a, but it was completely different as we performed it around the world.

the question at the end is, what do you think? we’re just a case study. apply these questions and what happens in our show to your favourite writers/musicians/illustrators and what happens? there may not be a definite answer to any of it, but for dan and phil - this is what we chose to do, for you.

so hopefully you feel like we have pleased you and we have given you what you want.

Here's some advice

So recently my friends brother died. She blames herself. I don't know exactly what happened with him but, I find loads of people blaming themselves for things such as death. So here's what I said to her and hopefully it will put your mind at ease. (keep in mind this is exactly copy and pasted from the conversation)

"Sweetheart, you are enough. If you keep focusing on the what if's you'll find yourself blaming yourself for every little bad thing that has happened. I don't know what happened with your brother but, it was NOT your fault. Death is never anyone's fault unless it blantent murder. If you think it's your fault, you need to atleast start focusing on what else's fault it may have been. It could have been how the weather was that day or maybe somebody didn't get enough sleep and was driving. There are so many different factors to death that it is never directly anybody's fault. It could be as simple as somebody changed their route for their morning walk. It could be beyond complicated. There's never a real set reason for death (unless it's of diese but I have feeling that was not how your brother died). It's okay to feel sad about his death. Its okay to mourn him. Just don't blame yourself. It's never good and it's never true because maybe you could have done something different but So many other people could have done something different. Please stop blaming yourself and least find other things to blame. Blame will rip you apart until there's nothing left. "

now that i have your attention…

i have to preface this post by saying that im american. as an american on this website with mostly american-oriented content, i know little of what is happening elsewhere in the world. recently, however, i have noticed that europe is having some issues - specifically issues regarding censorship of the internet.

now, do you wanna know why i prefaced this with ‘im american?’

because the only people that i’ve seen talking about this aren’t americans, but distressed europeans

i don’t know much about the situation, unfortunately. my understanding is that the EU wants to pass two articles that control how copyrighted information is passed on the internet. however, instead of slightly tightening their copyright laws, they seem to want to go to the extreme and censor any content that europeans produce and consume.

now think of how this could affect us, as the jse community.

sean, obviously, is european. born and raised in ireland, moved to the uk in 2017. he has dedicated 6 years of his life to uploading gaming videos and sketch comedies on youtube just for us, to build this wonderful and loving community.

if the EU decides to pass these articles?

shit is going to change, fam

thankfully, sean is in a position as to where he might not get as fucked over by this as others will, but it will still hurt. it will hurt him, as he loves this job and it will force him to find work elsewhere. it will hurt robin, who has been helping sean with his videos, especially the ego content, since 2016. it will hurt many of sean’s friends on youtube (pewdiepie, kickthepj, emma blackery, etc.)

most importantly?

it will hurt us, as sean’s audience.

i don’t know many people within the community, but i have heard stories. stories told through pax panels, stories shared in videos, stories shared across tumblr and twitter. i know sean means a lot to a lot of people out there. he is the reason they smile, the reason they want to get out of bed and live their lives. and i know that without having sean around, it might tremendously impact them. it might cut them off from friends they’ve made online, job opportunities they have because of sean, having a loving, supportive community to come to when their mental health might be in a shitty place, etc.

so why do i want your attention?

because of my position as a non-european, i know little about what is happening in europe and what i should do to help. but i know there are millions of people out there that can help.

i have four requests to ask of you guys, as a member of the jse community and the internet.

1. we need to signal boost the hell out of this to get sean’s attention. if we can get his attention, he can make a video about it, which will spread more awareness and encourage more europeans to take action.

2. i would like if anybody could update this post with information that we can give to sean and others. the more accurate, up-to-date, and easily explainable the information is, the better.

3. i would like to encourage europeans to take action besides signing internet petitions. go out, talk to your governments about this. write them letters. make calls. protest. make. some. noise. the more noise we make, the more we could sway them in our favor.

4. i would appreciate it if anybody could signal boost the hell out of this in general, as members of the jse community and internet. the more attention we can draw to this issue, the more lives we could help impact and (hopefully) improve.

you guys helped us americans when we we going through our net neutrality crisis.

now it’s our turn, as non-europeans, to help you through yours.

I finished Flashback in under 42 hours. I'm now currently rereading my favorite parts (cough* sophitz*cough) and am now very sad I have to wait another year. But, I think this was the best book yet. (you can fight me I have and always will be a sophitz shipper)
