Give the guy a break, he was like on screen for 10 seconds and yall immediately went with the conclusion that he’s the spawn of satan when the poor guy didn’t even do anything, much less do anything wrong.

There was a time I legitimately held a similar mindset in regards to fanart, I was too scared to make any because I didn't want to come off as "cRiNgE" but I cannot emphasize enough how badly that poisoned my creativity. Legit fanfiction and fanart is how a majority of creative people get their start before doing more cool unique shit, and if I could time travel I'd whap myself in the head and tell past me I'd prolly be full on selling good quality commissions if I had just embraced fandom fun to begin with.

I love when people let me know if something looks wonky so I can fix that in later drawings; and as someone who is new to tumblr culture there's a lot of norms that fly over my head; like when is it appropriate to DM someone? How do I properly interact with mutuals? Or how do I gush over my ideas without being over the top weird?

People are apparently under the impression that reblogging someone’s art and adding a comment is frowned upon and that can’t possibly be true, every artist I know of sees a reblog-comment as like the ultimate definitive reward for their hard work.

Obviously don’t feel bad for NOT adding a comment if you’re shy or just don’t know what to say, but if there’s something you would like to say about a drawing you’ve liked enough to reblog, I’m pretty sure most artists crave hearing it.
