i’m so sick of writers who proudly proclaim that they don’t really read and directors and actors and other filmmakers who smugly say that they rarely watch movies or any artist who acts like an audience is stupid for connecting with their work like what the fuck is wrong with you that you hold such contempt such derision for the art that you have chosen to make the art that so many people dream of the opportunity to make the art that brings meaning and connection to people’s lives it’s unbelievably disrespectful to both your audience and the art-form and if you can’t muster basic admiration for your art-form then kindly fuck off and do something else

THE BAT FAMILY vs THE TODOROKI FAMILY

So I thought I’d do something different this week, and compare the Dabi and Todoroki family plot as a whole to it’s likely inspiration, the Death in the Family and Under the Red Hood arcs, and the character of Jason Todd. The sidekick and son of a hero dies tragically in his youth, only to make a return from the dead years later as a villain to challenge his father. Sound familiar? 

Here’s a look at how two similiar stories are told in slgihtly different meidums (comic book vs manga) more underneath the cut.

You know how fantasy worlds are almost always based on (mostly Central and Northern) European Medieval aesthetic and folklore?

For a while I’ve been thinking that if we had a fantasy world made here, it would be interesting to have it be inspired by Modernisme (the Catalan artistic movement from the late 19th century - early 20th century). I mean, look at this and tell me it doesn’t have potential:

not to be a cunt but the way people seem to write books now by cherry picking favorite tropes and character cliches and mashing them together with a basic overplayed plot.. and then it's marketed online and even in physical book stores literally just by describing the book by its trope usage and people eat it up like slay fake dating or gay enemies to lovers 😍 like okay but what is the book ABOUT is the writing good what's the plot what's the message? they're all soulless and like bioengineered to be immediate bestsellers with zero depth

My cousin just asked if she could come over and pick up the clocks that she left here because she and her husband don’t have any way to tell time at her house except by looking at their phones.
