Sky's Homestuck Junk

Hey there! This started out as an old god tier analysis blog. I'll still share some of my thoughts about classpects here, but otherwise this'll just be some of my fanmade stuff and refs I like. Enjoy your stay!

Okay so Homestuck 2 this and Homestuck 2 that-- whatever y’all, my nerdy ass is here for the god tier stuff. I’m not gonna talk about the art style used in the most recent update (though for the record, I don’t mind it at all), but rather something interesting I noticed whilst skimming back through everything.
Something revolving around Roxy that peaked my interest .
The most recent upd8 as of writing this was Roxy’s “meeting” with Dave about the laundry room situation from a few chapters prior. And we get this panel (which absolutely killed me the first time I saw it):
Tumblr media
Roxy off to the side while Dave and Karkat had a Really Heavy Discussion is in itself kinda funny and also cute, with the thought that the boys were so invested in each other they didn’t notice Roxy at all. But after knowing this panel would be coming up, I paid a bit more attention to the background when this first happened. Originally I’d hoped to see a little glimpse of some sign that Roxy was indeed there the whole time and the boys somehow didn’t know. But instead.....
Tumblr media
...there’s nothing. Just a wall and a vent grate.
And of course there’s dozens of people who will say “well that just proves that the writers are just pulling scenes out of their ass, that’s such a big continuity error just for a joke”. Which is fair and probably the actual explanation. And like, I’m not saying HS2 is good (except for Gamzee being dead; that’s the best thing about it to me), but I’m a loser in quarantine whose best skill is overthinking shit no one else cares enough about to bother with.
Right off the bat, my main focus went to colors. Color has always played such a major part in Homestuck, especially how its meanings comes across to individual characters. And while the laundry machines on the boys’ side are just normal white and grey, the machine right beside Roxy is a faded blue.
Tumblr media
I tried checking hex codes, and I will admit, the shade doesn’t match up to anything of Roxy’s. But! That type of grayed blue tone is only ever used in regards to Void. The only other shade it’s closest to is troll cerulean, but no one else on the ship here is tied to blue in any way.
Since Void is all about nothingness, secrets, and nonexistence, my theory is thus: Roxy is still actively using their god tier powers, but in offhanded hard-to-notice ways befitting their Rogue class.
They have a section of the laundry room they’ve hidden from the rest of their shipmates (and maybe other rooms too) with their own appliances, maybe so they don’t have to wait on other people to get their clothes washed? Or to let anyone else in the room have a moment to themselves (or seemingly so)? Maybe they were coming down the hall and heard Dave and Karkat inside but didn’t feel like waiting since they were already there with their laundry basket, so they just phased into their side of the room so the boys could have their moment.
.........Yeah I know it’s dumb and probably not nearly as plausible as I feel like it is. But it’s something that caught my attention regardless. As a Rogue, Roxy’s almost always done their own thing on the sidelines (the Collide showdown with HIC for example) so using their Void powers to keep to themselves and avoid drama is definitely something I could see them doing. It also seems to me like a nod at Dave still being the only one around who doesn’t like to use his powers anymore. Hell, he’s even the only god tiered person in HS2 who doesn’t wear their own symbol; he wears Karkat’s. Which is cute as hell obviously, cuz they’re BFs sharing clothes, but more than anything denotes that his identity as the Knight of Time doesn’t mean anything to him anymore; which is also interesting, given the themes of Time players and comparing Dave to his other iterations... maybe I’ll get back to him someday in another post. But this one is long enough and I let my thoughts run too much as I typed. Sorry!

Mage: Awaken.
Damn, it’s been 5 years? My bad. Shit’s been wild, even without the last 11 months of quarantine. If you’re still here you’re alright in my books (even if it’s cuz you forgot to unfollow after i went dead silent).
Gonna see about changing my name from sky-analyzes to something else, and then I’ve got a semi-long mini theory about something in Homestuck 2 queued up. Thinking of changing this from an analysis-only blog to a general Homestuck sideblog for some of my own stuff and fan resources I wanna hold on to. So if you’re interested in that, keep stickin around!

Oh dear... It’s been a while huh? Sorry about that!! I’ve lost my Homestuck spark recently and have been doing my best to get it back, but just a few days ago I lost my tablet pen (and my tablet is a model that they don’t sell replacement pens for). I think I have a couple images saved as backup, so if I can find them buried under all of my schoolwork I’ll be trying to post everything soon!
Thanks to you all for sticking with me, I won’t let you all down!!

Mkay so, what’s been going on!! Been a couple of months since I posted any ask things...
Truth be told, I've fallen behind by way of artwork. I have a written list of all the tiers I still need to draw, and the ones I've finished that I need to write out answers for. The screenshot up there is showing a document i have saved in my Drive of some notes I've been taking as I've gotten asks. Just wanted to let you all know/show you that I haven’t forgotten about or neglected this blog already!! I've just been rather busy.
Also, if the tiers YOU asked about are shown there, then you can count them if you’d like! I know I’m being terribly slow. But those notes are just things I first thought of upon reading the asks, so when I officially answer them I’ll go much more in-depth!
I hope I’ll have some art and some asks for you all soon!!

I got you message, Anon! No worries about grammar, I’m just glad I know for sure what you meant! ^w^
I received an anon message this morning, and I’m afraid I don’t clearly understand it… Anon, if you see this, can you please clarify a bit?
What I assume you mean to say is “Which class that can become powerful needs to understand their aspect to do so? Or, which class doesn’t understand and needs a great deal of energy to understand it?”
If you see this, let me know if that’s it! I’d hate to assume I know what you mean and then not give an answer you were hoping for.

Sooo, yeah!! It's been a while. Err, 3 weeks, to be exact... My bad! ^^;
School, job searching, family stuff... I've been a lot busier than I'd expected. But now it's "superbowl sunday" here in the US, and since I couldn't care any less about sports than I currently do I've basically got a day off!! So i'll try getting some more answers out and some more drawings finished up.
Thanks for being so patient with me!!

Sky, Sky! Can you do either of my two god-tiers (I have 5 but i like these two the best), Thief of Time or Prince of Space? I'd like to see your take on it!
Tell ya what, I'll do you one better--I'll give them both a shot!
Tumblr media
Thief of Time
Thieves can be seen as a selfish class, but not necessarily personality-wise. They steal their aspect from their opponents, granting it to themselves. As such, from the beginning of the game, Thieves might find that they lack their aspect terribly in themselves (i.e. Vriska having barely any luck, and Meenah not having a very happy/exciting life on Beforus). This class is said to be the power-opposite of Rogues.
Time, like Space, is exactly what it sounds like: timelines, and in some cases, inevitability (such as with Maids or Seers). Time players tend to have a relatively good grasp on thoughts of consequences, and as such can be very forward thinkers. This varies from person to person and class to class, though, obviously.
A Thief of Time can "steal" time from their opponents and give it to themselves. This could mean their target could be frozen in time, or maybe even find themselves aging in rare cases where the Thief is EXTREMELY high-level. With the stolen time now at their (literal) fingertips, the Thief could make themselves move faster, or reverse their own wounds in makeshift healing. It's also possible, of course, for them to time travel once they have some power with them.
As goes the "Thieves lacking aspect" part of this class, of course, this Player might find themselves almost falling short by way of deadlines, or arriving at a conclusion (or a battle) just a few seconds too late. It's possible this player may even make it into the Medium by the skin of their teeth--the roof of their house might not make it with the rest of the building.
Prince of Space
The Prince class is the most active one under Lord. Princes are believed to be outright destroyers of their aspect, either being able to break the physical aspect itself, or being able to tear apart the figurative sense in multiple ways. It is often said that Princes will reach a point in the game where their aspect is destroyed in themselves, but this has only been shown with 2 of the 3 canon Princes so far.
Space has to do with… well, space! Stars, mass, velocity—it’s the aspect of Creativity. Space players are known for being able to duplicate objects, or make them bigger/smaller/lighter, etc. They hold a connection to the physicality of things.
A Prince of Space could be terribly dangerous if turned against their team. They can most likely shrink objects to nonexistence, or maybe even affect a target's velocity to either freeze it in place entirely or have it shoot off into the void (which could be useful depending on circumstance)! A high-level Prince of Space could also destroy physicality--or rather, simply make any physical object (living or otherwise) crumble apart.
Regarding the "Princes have inner aspect destroyed" part of the class, this player would probably end up taking a lot of hits. They might be just fine when the game starts, but all of a sudden they may find dodging to be impossible, and the build-up of attacks they've taken will ultimately show on them and their attitude. perhaps they'd even be like Thief of Time and find themselves moving too slowly when they desperately need to speed up!
This miiiight not be the best Player to handle the frog breeding... especially if they haven't tiered and are going through the "inner destruction" dillema. All kinds of things could go wrong... they might want 2 or 3 Players to help them out instead of just one.

So, how about we try out a Maid of Rage? Never really see much about the Rage aspect on these blogs, so I normally consider them a 'rite of passage' for anyone to analyze them.
Rite of passage, eh? Well I'd better do my best then! Maid of Rage...
Tumblr media
Maids do exactly what it sounds like they do--"serve" their aspect. Not in, like, a 'street' sense or a waitress, but as in an actual maid. They use their aspect in whatever way necessary to make sure everything that must happen does happen.
Rage can be seen as a rather straight-forward aspect. It IS rage, but it can also be negative emotion and motivation. For Gamzee, it was the central emotion itself, while for Kurloz it seemed to revolve around the latter possibility.
A Maid of Rage could be seen as a saving grace or a deadly boon, depending on the fate of their session. If the session is meant to succeed, the Maid could use their influence of emotion and its effects on others to push them along where they need to be (for example, if someone needs emotional motivation to take on a tough enemy that MUST be defeated, the Maid can give them that drive to do so). If the session is doomed to fail, however, then the Maid will be..... not the cause, per say, but a definitive deciding factor in this regard. They'll be the one to push the anger in others in ways that will doom the rest, or they could sap the motivation from anyone who gets in their way of refusing to let the session bear fruit.
What a dangerous tier.... If you've got a Maid of Rage in your session, you'd better hope it's for a good reason!!

... Bugger my session has 7 players! Oh well, could you to the Mage of Space please? I'd like to see your take on it!
Yeah, sorry! I want to get the hang of individual tiers before I try taking on too many at once...but I digress. Oooh, I've always been fascinated with my fellow Mages! Mage of Space...
Tumblr media
Mages are a class with bad luck--that's just how it is! But fortune would have it that their poor experiences are usually only a direct result of their aspect. They're affected negatively by their aspect, and in some cases of misunderstanding their aspect, these negatives can affect those around them as well!! These players also tend to have low self-confidence in different parts of themselves, and this is usually shown by aspect.
Space has to do with... well, space! Stars, mass, velocity--it's the aspect of Creativity. Space players are known for being able to duplicate objects, or make them bigger/smaller/lighter, etc. They hold a connection to the physicality of things.
Mages of Space are affected by the negatives of Space... uh-oh. They might find that objects are suddenly too heavy for them to carry, or so small that they're just baaaaaarely out of reach.. Hopefully these items won't be too important! Be careful around thrown items too--you might find them suddenly veering course in mid-air, with their new destination being you. Or, in some cases as caused by the Mage class, they might head toward your teammate instead!
Most of these negatives will only happen prior to tiering, however, and once you've got your snazzy black and grey PJ's, it'll be much easier for you to keep these things under control. Mages themselves are a fairly creative class in that they excel at using their aspect in creative ways (though the occasional negative side-effect could still follow), so once you've tiered you have a lot of potential power-wise!
Oh, one more thing. Even if you decide to start your frog-breeding AFTER tiering, you should still probably get someone to help you, juuust in case those negatives sneak up on you and have you create a frog that's too small, or one that's too slow, etc.

Okay so what could a sylph do in battle without a weapon specifically a sylph on heart?because i know its a not very battle dominant class but i dont wanna bring the others in my session down got anything on what they could do?Since i dont see enough about that
Sylph of Heart?? That's one of my favorite classpects! :D
Tumblr media
It's true that Sylphs aren't typically seen as battle-ready, but depending on the player their powers of healing can be used against their opponents. Heart has to do with emotions and soul, and it can be a pretty difficult tier to master for some people.
When I was thinking of how this player could be on the offensive, I thought of one major example: "healing" the enemy. Say an enemy is headed right for an unprepared teammate; well gee, that enemy doesn't seem very in-touch with some of their emotions... why not help them come to terms with their inner depression?? Can't attack people when you're a sobbing mess on the floor.
Or, perhaps someone on the team goes rogue and tries to take out a fellow Player! That won't do--their heart's all out of wack. Put 'em back in the right state of mind with a good "tug" on the heartstrings--no one can do it better than you!
My favorite example, though, has to do with the Soul part of Heart. What if you're facing an enemy whose emotions are steeled in their resolve against you, and are so set on your destruction that any emotion you force upon them is shrugged off? Sounds like their soul itself could use a break from all its troubles, and have some free time to think over its ambitions.... Best way to give it that alone time? Separate their soul from their body, of course! Give them some time to think before putting them back. Or not. Who knows! You're the healer--maybe they'd be better off NOT having a body? ;D

hello! I have a friend Knight of Breath, and I'd like to know more about this title. could you help me?
Knight of Breath, eh? I've got a couple friends with that title too! Let's see..
Knights are protectors, using their aspect to protect their teammates or protecting their aspect IN their teammates. They care about their friends, but can be rather awkward in certain ways depending on aspect. An interesting thing to note about Knights power-wise is that, from what we've seen of canon Knights in Homestuck, they're a class that has good control over their aspect from the very beginning of the game!! They can use it well and have a strong understanding of it too. However, as the game progresses, that control begins to slip until eventually the Knight loses control almost entirely, and they won't regain a stable balance with their aspect until after tiering.
Breath is the aspect of movement, freedom, and wind! Heroes of this aspect can control the wind and all of its strengths/speeds, either for physical use or even as transportation--kind of like how Jack Frost did in Rise of the Guardians. "Wind, take me home!"
Knights of Breath are protectors of freedom!! What a cool-sounding description... This player can use wind to keep their team safe while they work on important tasks, or even use it to pick them up and put them out of harm's way! Tornadoes that spit you out safely on high places, walls of 200-mph gusts that'll knock out any enemy that tries to cross them, breezes that can crumble mountains if going around them takes too long--if it'll help the team, the Knight can do it! Just make sure they go god tier before they try anything TOO big.

Note
do you have any advice for someone who can't manage to find their title/their oc's title? thanks!
Personally, I recommend thepageofhopes’ god tier test. It’s what I used to get my own title, and I used her definitions of what each class/aspect lesson is to assign my characters their titles as well. And it’s incredibly accurate, from what I’ve seen so far!
For example, I’ve got one fantroll who’s very smart but very silly, and who’s used to working alone. So I decided to make him an Heir of Mind!! Then, lo and behold as I started coming up with ideas for my trolls and kids, I found that his role as an Heir and the powers he had fit perfectly with every single idea I had. Every single one!!
*cough* So uhh, yeah! Long story short, I use that test! uwu
