Bringing this back with the context of the new Team Rocket clothing drop... This but also - Young Giovanni whose mother not only founded and ran Team Rocket but also a major fashion icon in Kanto and Johto. Young Giovanni who would stay up at night with his Meowth and sketch dresses and vests, suits and skirts. He hid those sketches from his mother, who made it clear she wanted him to take over Team Rocket from her, but kept designing into adulthood. The modern Rocket uniforms are his designs, and more often than not his suits are his designs. He has often considered working under a pseudonym in a region where Team Rocket wasn't well known, but never really had the time.

Maybe young Giovanni who took an interest in Pokémon Contests, looking at the dazzling outfits and dreaming about making outfits for himself and Meowth. Just designer Giovanni.

Hi sorry not to be thirsty for Giovanni on main but like...could you imagine him wearing corsets. Just over his normal long sleeved shirt and under his jacket. You can only see it when he reaches a little too far or has his jacket unbuttoned. He's got three different styles—Ground, Psychic, and Poison.

The Ground Patterned Corset is an underbust corset with golden laces and patterned with barely noticeable mountains. There are a set of fake closures down the front that look identical to the Earth Badge. It's his typical work corset.

The Psychic Corset is more of a pointed cincher style corset that he normally wears under both his shirt and jacket. It's fabric is a coutil the same color as Mewtwo with lines of barely there red throughout the fabric. There is no pattern.

The Poison Corset is perhaps his favorite and he tends to wear it more around his home than the office. It's a full vest corset with a base made of deep magenta coutil that has been custom dyed to match Nidoking and has a subtle bubble like pattern that can only really be seen when he moves in the light. The seams are edged with a shimmering black bias that is also used on the edges as well. The laces though—the laces are a deep blood red with strands of stark black between the weave. They are shocking against the rich purple and black, somewhat out of place, but stunning nevertheless. There's an R on the vest right where it would be on his suit jacket as well.

Look. The pokemon polls they are running right now only serves as evidence that Giovanni would be a poison type trainer. I stand by this. It's like...my main headcanon for him. There's something poetic about the slow poisoning of everything to serve his purposes and to weaken them.

I think there's also something to say that ground type is super effective against poison.

I like to think I’m normal about Giovanni and then they post cardsleeves with him for the 151 set and I just start screaming.

I just, personally, feel like Giovanni would be a big Cher fan. Just anytime something goes wrong he shuts his office door and blasts Cher for a few hours.

Ariana once asked him about it and he looked her dead in the eyes and said "I don't have a clue what you're talking about" as Just Like Jesse James played from the speakers.

Sitting here thinking about how the ring Giovanni is seen wearing sometimes looks similar in shade to the Earth Badge and how important Viridian Gym was to him as a trainer. A small concession he allowed himself to have.

Look I don't know how I got here to be honest but I keep thinking about Giovanni and Rose and just like...I feel like they give off MASSIVE divorcee energy. Like Rose took most of Giovanni’s money in the divorce except the paperwork was misfiled so technically they are still married and the money Rose spends doesn’t actually impact Giovanni. Which means Giovanni has quite a large stake in Macro Cosmos that Rose can’t take back. It also means Giovanni likes to flaunt his expensive wedding ring.

Reginald, Giovanni’s Persian, is quite taken with Aconite, Rose’s Perrserker. He refuses to let Giovanni see Rose if he is not perfected groomed because Aconite will not even look at him if a single strand of fur is out of place. Reginald tends to forget he’s an above average sized Persian around Aconite and often makes a fool of himself which Giovanni cannot stand.

Thinking about the first time Larry accidentally uses chat speak during a conversation with Iono. She likes to send him office worker memes like “OMFG ITS U X3” and he just goes “Okay.”

Until one day he accidentally goes “lol get Rekt” at a meme about printers breaking and Iono just sends back nearly 100 random letters.

She demands to know where “mister boring normal type salaryman” learned to speak in such ways and Larry tries to avoid telling her until she threatens to show the gym leader group chat.

The answer is that he frequently is in contact with Gym Leader Raihan from Galar. A close “friend” of his is a gym leader there and Raihan happened to drop by for a match while he was there, which resulted in them talking about type match ups and also Raihan gushing over how cute and fluffy Cate (short for Concatenate) is. They exchanged numbers at Raihan’s request and Raihan has made it his personal mission to get Larry to use social media because he’s very good at taking photos and has funny things to say.

Iono is in disbelief for several reasons.

She still tells the leader GC and somehow Rika finds out.

Which means Geeta finds out.

He would rather do the entire league’s paperwork than go to Galar randomly, thank you for very much. He could just have had Raihan call. They don’t need to go to a different region just to prove Larry has friends that aren’t his coworkers.

V, his Flamigo, (name short for VLOOKUP) is quite happy to go on a vacation and see his best friend again. Count (short for COUNTIF) isn’t too happy but one look from V makes the Staraptor stop complaining.

I'm working on a fic right now and slightly exploring Larry and Geeta's work relationship / friendship and honestly am having fun. So...headcanon time!

I just...I really like the idea that they have known each other for a long time and that Geeta is fully aware of Larry is capable of. She struggles, and has struggled for years, to understand how he just...changed to being normal. She has seen him at his best and finest hour and watched as he just...accepted normalcy and wears it like he has for his whole life. She watched how he traded fine trainer clothes of the highest quality for a few mid-quality suits and silk dress shirts. However, despite all of that, their dynamics never changed. People may think he's being serious about how she is as a boss and she thought so at first once his behavior changed but then she realized his humor is just...incredibly dry and flat. (She thinks she misses the sarcasm at first until it's directed at her in the blandest of tones. Then she finds she still hates it.) But she likes it because it compliments hers. She knows people are unsettled by her, that they have their views of her management skills and her person. Her blank gaze scares them, her attitude and behavior alienate her from people, and her smile is often misread. Yet she can pop into Larry's office with a grin on her face and stare at him as he tells her whatever is bothering him on his Spreadsheet of the Day.

Larry is one of the few people that Geeta can really just be herself around. She can let her stare become distant while she talks to him, can sit up a little straighter and become rigid as she discusses League business. She can let her words become a little sing song-y, let her body sway like it's floating when she tells him about her day. She can let Glimmora float around his office and Larry won't mind when she tries to bite his hair or burrow into his walls. She'll threaten to dock his pay for working overtime past acceptable overtime because she wants him to go home and not being a workaholic. (She knows that a lot of his money goes into Medali, goes to random trainers to pay for snacks and supplies, goes to Poppy's fundraisers and pays for Rika's obscene amount of magazine subscriptions. She knows that he has a frankly large amount of losses to bets against Hassel and that the money he gives Hassel goes to the Academy to help low income students. She knows that a large chunk of his money is also sent to another region of which she cannot figure out. She also knows that his money is spent on Pokémon clothes that she has never seen his team wear and also on gems and jewels that she knows for a fact sit in a jewelry box she got him when he accepted being the Medali gym leader. She knows that he's a man who cares not for anything but a good meal, so money doesn't actually mean much to him.)

She can put her socked feet on his lap while he glares at his computer, complaining that as his work wife she feels neglected. He'll dryly respond that there are divorce papers in his desk but please wait until Thursday to fill them out he has deadlines he needs to finish. He'll sigh when she hands him another file on an up and coming gym challenger yet they will spend the next several hours battling just so that Larry can take out his frustrations of having to stop his work to battle. She'll smile when she catches the way Larry smiles ever so slightly when he sees the diamond on Staraptor's head and the balloons on Flamigo's. She'll watch as he sits with Flamigo after their match and discuss what they need to do better next time while Glimmora floats over to say hello to her best friend. He'll not comment on how Flamingo was extremely close to successfully beating her team while she calls for repairs on the room.

Geeta may not understand why Larry chose to accept normalcy as his way of life, why he stopped battling with the passion he once had as a younger man, but she has slowly come to accept it, even if it's hard for her to do so. She doesn't understand how her rival, the one who brought out the best in her battles and of her, could just turn away from all of that to a life of letters and numbers. However, she is forever grateful that despite that he didn't end their friendship and alienate himself.

Larry struggles to understand Geeta's management style and why she has turned away from her worldly goals to focus just on Paldea. While he himself understands his dislike towards her at times, a fact she is well aware of and it brings her joy to know he can express his dislike, he doesn't fully understand why other leaders do as well given that she is very upfront with her expectations and goals. He doesn't understand why she insists on him using flying type for his Elite Four team when that was just the silly dream of a child. However, he is grateful that there is someone who understands him, who has sought to continue to understand him.

So yes, they don't always see eye to eye, they snark and get on each other's nerves, but they are the only two people who really understand the other.

However, Larry would really like it if Geeta would just let him work overtime. It's not harming anyone and it's less work for her to do.

Back to thinking about Kabu with Sweetheart the Shiny Espurr. Most people don’t know about her, with the two main exceptions being Giovanni and Nanu. However, there are three other people who know—Opal, Peony, and Mustard.

Opal is Appalled and Insulted that Kabu did not inform her of Sweetheart. Yes, she focuses in Fairy Type, but that doesn’t matter. Sweetheart is pink and cute and therefore Opal loves her. She’s the main supplier of all of Sweetheart’s bows and glitter accessories. Opal doesn’t quite understand why Kabu won’t tell anyone about her but she also has heard stories of Espurr and respect his choices. It does mean she invites herself over weekly for tea and always makes sure Sweetheart’s Fairy Type uniform is pristine.

Peony is…confused. He knows Kabu specializes in fire types and while he also knows Kabu has some non-monotype fire Pokémon, they are always fire type. Never another type completely. He’s confused why Kabu is reluctant to give details about how he came across her but stops prying after a while. He jokingly calls Sweetheart Kabu’s daughter after he saw her all decked out in fire type gear waving a tiny fire type flag. He gifts her a steel type flag but with a hand drawn peony on the back. He doesn’t really have anything to give her but he always shares stories from Kabu’s younger days.

Mustard simply shrugs when he finds out and immediately tries to get her into a battle to which Centiskorch ends up throwing Mustard across the yard. Luckily Sweetheart halts his fall before he lands. Kabu lectures him for nearly an hour as Sweetheart is mother’d by Centiskorch. He tells Kabu is he ever wants to train her, bring her to the Isle. He does accidentally tell Honey who calls and apologizes for his behavior and sends Sweetheart a sweets basket as an apology.

Overall, Kabu prefers that people don’t know about Sweetheart. It’s not really about what people will say about him, he has long since given up caring about that, but Sweetheart is somewhat fearful of people and Kabu doesn’t want people poking around or frightening her. She joins Kabu and his team when they go to train either in the gym or in the Wild Area, but she stays at home when it comes to the mines.

Geeta, dramatically laying across Larry's desk: Uva is hosting a tournament and I want to go but I'm SO busy with PAPERWORK. I might even have to pull OVERTIME.

Larry, hearing overtime: I'll take care it. Get off my desk.

Geeta: You're the best.

Larry: I better get overtime.

Larry between choosing to go home on time on a Friday or doing five plus hours of overtime? Overtime.

It's Geeta's surefire way to get what she wants.

Major Hassel Headcanon Time let's goooooo - Thinking about how just before Hassel plans to run away from his family, he's handed down an arranged marriage. His father makes it well known he has no choice to accept and goes so far as to prevent Hassel from leaving their manor until his soon to be partner arrives. That soon to be partner who happens to be Lord Hammerlocke of Galar.

Hassel is terrified because he doesn't want to go. He wants to leave to pursue his craft, not move to a far away place. He makes himself small and unappealing when Lord Hammerlocke arrives, but it does nothing. Within days the contracts are signed and Hassel is moving his very few possessions across the world to Galar. As the ship continues to sail on, Hassel's plans to leave become smaller and smaller until he's stepping foot on Galar and realizing he will never be free of his family. Never be free to be himself. He doesn't say anything, just keeps himself small. Lord Hammerlocke, Varis my dear, is a few years older than him, but looks younger than he is. He offhandedly jokes during their trip that his dragon blood keeps him young but Hassel knows it's not a joke. Not when it's also what his family says, what they say he doesn't have. (All you are, is weakness.) He just smiles politely and nods. As it turns out he's a gym leader in Galar, overseeing the eighth and final gym. Hassel resigns himself to a life of nothing that he enjoys, married to a man who doesn't care for him. He settles his stuff (items he was prepared to leave behind) in the room he's been given but doesn't unpack his bag.

A few days after his arrival—after he's seen all of Hammerlocke Castle and the Stadium, seen the baby Dreepy and Goomy and a plethora of other dragons he's never seen before—Lord Hammerlocke sits him down in his study, gently takes hold of his hand, and smiles in a way that for some reason makes Hassel feel safe.

"You have given me something that I don't think you will ever understand how much it means to me. And for that, I must repay you." A Poké Ball is placed in his hand, a kiss is pressed to his forehead, and a single word whispered in his ear.

"Go."

Hassel does. He grabs the Poké Ball, races up to grab his bag, and runs out of Hammerlocke Castle, runs to the closest port, and takes the first ship out of Galar.

Several days later, he ends up in Paldea.

(There's a note he finds in his wallet when he tries to check into a hotel for the night, along with a bank card and a number.

When you can, I would love if you would visit me. Not now, maybe in a year. Take care, and remember all of Hammerlocke's resources are open to you. Goodbye, little fairy.

In his hotel room that night, looking down at a weird phone like device, he opens the Poké Ball and a small Axew jumps out. The Axew is holding a Roseli Berry and happily holds it up for Hassel. As he makes friends with the Axew, a message comes through on the phone.

The next day, he meets a green haired young man in a nearby forest and makes his first friend.

I just need Giovanni showing up in Galar in front of Kabu’s gym like “Yes, yes please tell Kabu I’m here. I know he’s in his office. How do I know he’s here? Her Highness looks ready to commit murder which means Kabu's jackass of a Perrserker is here as well and I know for a fact Kabu doesn't go anywhere without him. Why am I here? Well, apparently there’s a poison legendary that’s resting beneath Galar that my husband did in fact not inform me about so I will telling him off once I’ve captured it. Don’t posture at me, do you know who I am? There's at least a dozen arrest warrants out for me. No, no. Don't call, it's useless. Oh, Kabu!"

Meanwhile Kabu's Perrserker, Lancelot, suddenly goes from patrolling around Kabu's office to pointing at the office door so Kabu follows him and watches as he runs right to Her Highness. Giovanni looks offended to the highest of degrees while Her Highness looks at Lancelot like he's the most annoying Pokémon on the planet. Lancelot simply grins and runs to pull weeds from the ground to present to her.

Meanwhile Kabu has sent his trainers back inside and stands there, arms crossed, staring at Giovanni as Lancelot tries to engage with Her Highness. Giovanni stares back it him, smug, and waits for Kabu to speak. The man doesn't, instead turning and leading Giovanni the long way to his home. Giovanni complains about his slacks getting dirty, but keeps up with Kabu. He lets his hand trail down Kabu's tense spine to rest on the small of his back. Behind them, Lancelot is walking just a step behind Her Highness, as if guarding her. Giovanni can't help but smile. It's similar to how he and Kabu used to be, before they took different paths.

Kabu stops in front of his house, turning to face Giovanni. With no one around, his expression is a lot meaner. The taller man just smiles and explains that he's only here for the poison legendary under Galar. Why? Because he wants it. No it's not because Mewtwo is ignoring him. Kabu stop laughing it's not funny.

After recovering Kabu just sighs and tells Giovanni he can stay as long as he tells Nanu he's here so Interpol doesn't panic and he has to help with gym work. Giovanni huffs like that's asking too much but he agrees because Kabu isn't making him sleep at a hotel.

Meanwhile, Lancelot is showing Her Highness his fluffy bed and his rock collection and the Persian looks so annoyed. However, she curls up on the bed that's a little too small and watches as the Perrserker goes about his patrol. "Kabu I swear to Arceus if an egg appears I will not be held responsible for any actions I may take."

"You said that the last time and I heard Meowth is quite enjoying his time with Jessie and James."

Larry’s first work wife is his office computer.

Larry’s second work wife is Hassel.

Larry’s third work wife is Geeta.

Larry’s husband is a well known fire type gym leader who got added to a group chat one day called “Larry’s Harem” and it’s just Hassel and Geeta sending badly taken photos of Larry throughout the day. Like blurry photos taken from either behind corners or as someone is walking fast. Kabu, confused, just saves every photo and answers all the questions they have about Larry’s behaviors because maybe, just a little, they are worried he’s overworking himself. They tried to ask him about himself and all he talks about is his gym.

Because of this group chat, Kabu ends up revealing to the entire Galar League he has a husband because he sent “No Chairwoman, Larry has more than one of the same tie and he does have other ties. I know of at least one because he wore it for our anniversary dinner the other month. I believe it's your regions normal type design." to the league group chat by accident and Raihan just goes “ANNIVERSARY?????”.

Larry is confused by the sudden league work trip to Galar, but goes along with it because otherwise Geeta threatened to have him locked out of the league systems until they returned.

Plus, it's nice to see Kabu again. And all the Sizzlipede. Ribbon has very much missed her siblings.
