hi everybody, this is the newest update from our friend Lai Kwan!!!! :)
if you are free in the morning, you can do your attachment with Mr.NG, below is his schedule:
thurs, 10am - DELTA SWIM POOL (redhill)
sat, 10am - BUKIT BATOK SWIM POOL
sun, 9.30am - DELTA SWIM POOL (redhill)
please do let him know first if you want to attach to him, cos he might cancel the class if the pool is close, just like Jen... NG-97955098

SAT ACCREDITATION
hello to all SAT students,
just a gentle reminder that your accreditation for your SAT and SAT Baby & Toddler is due to be processed on end  of January 2013. you still have time to do your attachment till end of December.
for those who are still confused about the attachment thingy, first i would like to apologize for the not-so-clear message that i have sent. so this is how it works...
SLI management has decided that all SLI coaches who taking SAT courses and get sponsored by the company, they have to do 5 SESSIONS of 'SHADOW TEACHING' as a requirement to get accredited as a SAT teacher.
Yes, it is stated as 'NOT MANDATORY' on the paper, but it is a 'COMPULSORY' from  SLI Management. as the company already paid for your courses, we require you to observe the way our course presenter deliver her lessons, so that you get some idea about what she was talking about during the courses
.
WHY IS IT 5 SESSIONS instead of 5 hours?!?!?!
THE REASON is because Jen's class is a 30mins class, it is different from SLI, so after some discussion and to avoid confusion, we decided to put it as 5 sessions, as long as u attend 5 sessions of Jen's or other teacher class who is recommended by Jen, then u completed the attachment part alr.
So, if you attended the SAT B&T and SAT courses, that means you have to do in total 10 sessions of attachment with Jen. 5 sessions of Baby class and 5 sessions of toddler class or even a higher level class.
 WHERE TO GO?
baby class - 5pm - sun - SLC bukit merah
baby class - 5pm - wed - bishan pool (conducted by Jen's partner)
toddler class - 6.30pm - wed - bishan pool
toddler class - 7pm - wed - bishan pool
note : entrance fee is on your own when u go down to the public pool.
those who are interested to do attachment at bishan, please let me know. Agnes 91889490
and... you still have your final practical exam after you've done your attachment, this final practical exam will be conducted either by Jen, Robert or Jimmy.  they will come and see the way you conduct your own class and the way you deliver your lesson.

something new in September..
Hi everybody..
September is here!! new month, new resolution, and also NEW RESPONSIBILITY! ;)
what to do with a 'new responsibility'??sounds weird? sounds scary??
oh well.. no worries..
the management has decided to TRUST you all weekend coaches (included me!) with one new role in the company as an EQUIPMENT IN-CHARGE.. your job is very simple, every end of the morning & afternoon sessions you need to make sure that all the swimming equipment.. yes ALL.. all the swimming boards, all the swimming noodles, all the ropes, all the life-jackets, all the life-saving sticks, all the back-floats, include all the toys.. you just need to make sure that all the equipment mention above is placed properly.
how properly is properly??? example: baby toys must be inside the toys box..which toys box? the ones with yellow cover and green cover NOT big blue box, the big blue box is to keep the baby doll for baby class.
do i need to collect all the equipment by myself?!? they use it and i collect for them??? HO.. HO.. HO.. of course NOT!
-as an IN-CHARGE you can do whatever you think is right-
if you saw a noodles and boards flying all around the pool, and you know who is the one who used it, you can just approach her/him to put back the equipment back on the rack.  but if you have no idea who the person is, then too bad! you have to collect them yourself and put back on the rack.  you will be the only person that Dean's gonna look for if he saw the swimming equipment is not in the proper place. not so difficult rite??
we gonna take turn to do it every week, the roster will be placed in front of the glass panel near the main office door.
some of you might ask, why suddenly got this kind of thing?!??! last time don't have leh... yes, last time don't have.. the management come out with this new thingy becauseeee.. many of you.. yes you! FORGOT, keep forgetting and will always forget to keep back the swimming equipments , is that u? ;p.  so many times, we found the boards, noodles, and especially baby toys all around the pool. some of them went into the drain, and become very dirty.. eeyuhhhh... :(
PS: This new duty system will take place with effect from 1st September.
what if i forgot that i'm on duty? that's why i never keep back the equipment.
simple, you will have to be on duty again for consecutively another 3 weekends, so that you will remember! ;)
and if you know u r not going to teach this weekend and it is your duty, please do swap yours with the other. and change your name on the roster, so that the management will know who's the person on duty. if u never arrange, then too bad.. same consequences as mentioned above. :)
ya, i think that's all about it. i'm so tired typing so long... hahaha...
see you on weekend... if you're still blur please do approach Dean for clarification. ok? ;p

SwimSafer Test on Sept

Hi teachers,
SwimSafer test will be on 15 & 16 Sept 2012 at Sports Lifestyle Centre.
as usual, stage 1, 2, 3 will start at 3pm
and bronze, silver, gold will start at 4pm
If your students are ready to take the test, please do submit their names to your Centre Manager.  Bukit Merah to Dean, Admiral to Pang and Arena to Lydia.
don't forget to inform their parents as well!! it is important!! please do inform them by this week (1&2 Sept 2012) so that they can prepare the $$$ for the test (it's all about the money.. money.. money.. :p) and don't forget to let them fill up the swimsafer test form.  Again, u can get the test form from your centre manager. ;)
please submit their names latest by 8 Sept 2012 for Saturday class and 9 Sept 2012 for Sunday class.

SAT Lesson Plan
Hi everyone,
for those of you who are not really sure how to write the lesson plan for your assessment, the template is actually on the ACCUMULATIVE TRAINING RECORD form, the form that is inside the student kits I passed to u.
you have to make 2 lesson plan, each 20mins, 1 for beginner class (don't know how to swim) and the other 1 for advance class (more to stroke correction, example: freestyle hand --> big circle to elbow high recovery)
the template look like this:

these are the things you need to stated on your lesson plan:
1. lesson duration : 20mins
2. #of students
3. average age
4. average ability : beginner or advance
5. equipment and swimming aids : noodle/kicking board/backfloat, etc
6. lesson aim : is it for stamina? water confidence? stroke correction? new stroke?
7. INTRODUCTION : how do u start ur class? sing a song? kicking on the wall?
8. REVISION : what u taught them last week? freestyle kicking? breaststroke kick? kicking with board and blow bubbles? etc
9. NEW SKILLS : if last week u taught them the freestyle kicking, so this week u might teach them the arm pulls. arms pulls will be the new skill.
10. OTHER : other skill to teach like starfloat/backfloat/tumble turn/ sculling action, etc
11. CONCLUSION : do they do well during the lesson? remind them the skills that u taught them today. etc
because the OZ side does not know our lesson plan, so they will not understand what is 'airplane kick' 'bubble kick' 'torpedo kick' etc, just try to be more precise when you write your lesson plan. okie.

SAT and SAT B&T THEORY ACKNOWLEDGMENT
Hi people..
those of you who sign up for SAT and SAT B&T course, this weekend please do collect your CD's from Lydia-Arena and Agnes-Bukit Merah..
you will receive 3 Cd's :

you have to go through all the Cd's and do your own assessment at the end of each chapter.
there are 7 chapters for SAT basic and i need you to email me all the certificates.. yes just email me, dont need to print out.. SAVE THE TREES!!! the THEORY COMPLETION certificate is the most important one.. okie..

then for the SAT B&T there are 10 chapters to be done, and again the last part is the most important one..and again please email me all the certs.. :)

and people.. please remember this course is cost $500/- each, please read through all the chapters so that you will understand what the course presenter talking about or else she will fail you if she found out you never go through your CD's.  there will be a penalty if you fail this course.

TIME : 12pm to 4pm (theory and practical), 4pm to 5pm (assessment)

TIME : 12pm to 5pm (theory and practical), 5pm to 5.30pm (attachment)
if the timing clash with your classes, please do let DEAN for BUKIT MERAH and LYDIA for ARENA know, they will arrange replacement for you.
each course will cost $500/- without any bond with the company,
early bird registration fee is $465/- by May 18th, 2012.
registration close on 27 May 2012.
sponsored candidates will have a commitment to teach 120hrs for the company (120hrs for each course). for terms and conditions, please consult Robert directly.
okie, now is the most important thing to do before you attend the course..
PRE-REQUISITE of SAT COURSE:
1.  complete the SAT COURSE INFORMATION FORM (get it from Agnes or Dean on saturday or sunday)
2.  watch the CD and print out the THEORY ACKNOWLEDGMENT (please do all the assessment properly, Jennifer will know if you never go through the CD properly, it happened on the last course).

3.  have to do 1.5 hours attachment to Jen or any senior coaches.
4.  prepare a 2x 20 mins lesson plan, one for beginner class (jelly or starfish level) and the other one for advance class (otter or dolphin level)
5.  a copy of your lifesaving 1,2,3 or BM & CPR certs

hello.. hello everyone..
please mark on your calendar that JELLYFISH CONVERSION course will be on:
26 & 27 May 2012 (saturday & sunday) for ARENA!!
so those who coaching at ARENA on that day, please do stay back for awhile after the last class.
and BUKIT MERAH is on 9 & 10 June 2012 (saturday & sunday)
so those who coaching at BUKIT MERAH, please stay back awhile after the last class.
the lesson will be about 1 to 1.5 hours and conducted by the legendary UNCLE JIMMY!! ;p
