its very difficult to have to subject my characters to these things, but I did not decide this path. I'm merely the scribe of their lives, how those lives go/affect them, I have no control over. its tragic sometimes, its joyful other times. I like to think most of my characters receive happy endings, at least the ones who worked for it, but the path to that happy ending is long and prickly.

i cheer for them, stay strong. it will get better.

okay, in other news, eoj word count is 22k. i didn't finish the 1.5, but i did finish the 1 chapter, so imma try and go for another one today. mwah, i love the AK case, this is genuinely so hype.

real talk tho... DO I SEEM LIKE A SADIST TO YOU GUYS??? BECAUSE WHY ARE ALL MY WRITEBLR MUTUALS (except leah and smihi mwah mwah <3) SAYING I AM????

i dont ENJOY the tragic endings my characters receive. but its the natural conclusions to their stories, a lot of the time. i can't have the lc arc as a plot arc and NOT have the character end up with lifelong ptsd and long-term therapy? sure, they'll be happier at the end, but it just doesn't feel right to me to say "happily ever after..." no matter how badly i want to.

same thing with the war arc. i can't have a whole WAR ARC, and then not have some of the soldier come out with critical injuries, psychological damage, ruined cities, and deaths. it sucks, and i don't enjoy it, but i can't VOID that.

anyways, i know they're kidding lmao its not that serious, but i still wanted to yamble about why i make the choices i make, so womp womp.

hey guys, i’m here to relieve you of your fear-mongering For You Page, here’s what we know:

1. this is not “world war 3”. that would be insane, unrealistic, unnecessary, and would never happen immediately off of one (albeit, awful) event like this. absolutely no country wants to go to war right now lol. anyone who makes any joke or post about “getting drafted” or “we’re all gonna die” has not done a lick of research, do not engage with it. plus, we’ve been at war with the middle east for ages, so for them, the timing of this attack is a bigger shock than the attack itself.

2. people in the US are not going to get hurt. more than likely, the worst this can get is some type of gulf war with the middle east limiting access to our resources, which still isn’t ideal. the best course of action for iran right now is to control what they can, which probably means cutting off the strait of hormuz, a strait that runs to the US (and other places) and provides it with resources like oil. (at least, that’s what i predict will happen based on the research i have done, but the resources part still stands). the US military is too advanced and too strong for an attack on US soil to be a strategic move for iran (a country with a population less than a third of the US’s) because they know that whatever they do, the US military will hit back even harder (that is apparent from one of trump’s latest social media posts… that heinous bitch 😒)

3. president trump wants you to be living in fear. that’s what his entire platform has been run on, along with lies and hypocrisy that more and more people are starting to see through. whatever happens in the future, this will be a huge turning point for a lot of individuals who may or may not care about who they voted for. but for those who did not ask for this, here’s what we can do:

stop making everything about the fear in the US and do what you can to lift up the people of iran, the people who were actually attacked, especially if this situation progresses any further. if military attacks do break out, it will most likely be on iranian soil, not the US’s, so do your best to try to be selfless, even through the fear.

please for the love of god do your own research, and keep it as unbiased as possible. news articles, reports, even historical articles, anything is better than scrolling through tiktok or tumblr and making your anxiety even worse. don’t even take what i say as fact! yes i’ve done research, but things can (and will) change, so it’s best to stay updated in whatever way you can.

spread positivity, build community, and gather information. as civilians, that is our current best course of action, and our collective greatest strengths. living in fear is feeding into what our government wants you to feel like so you’re easier to control. do not let them.

this is my own pet peeve, but stop saying “we bombed iran” or “we started a war”. WE did not do anything. donald trump did. that is not the america i associate with, nor should it be the one you associate with, either.

lastly, and i’ll say this until i die, everything is going to be okay. there will be issues, of course, but it won’t last forever, i promise. take a break from doomscrolling and get a good night’s rest. stay safe 🫶

hi hi hi! AHHH this is such an exciting ask. i love when yall ask about my books lmao. this is a writing blog, after all (even tho i don't act like it whoops 🤡)

crash course into thecomfywriter's books:

alrighty, so i have a bunch of wip introductions in my intro post here, but i'll give you a less formal introduction down below as well, and catch you up to speed about everything that's going on.

so, i have three main series going on. one is the ToV duology (ToV = throne of vengeance, which is a highly used tag on my blog). tov has its own little community that you can check out here, where people who are reading the book post their thoughts, annotations, and a lot of memes and reactions lol.

ToV ("Throne of Vengeance", with the #tov on my blog) is basically a high fantasy action adventure story told in the perspective of the main cast, but mainly in the pov of the protagonist, alan, as he slowly loses his sense of self and morality the deeper he becomes entrenched with / manipulated by soilaila's ex-limious*, hilbert.

a limious is basically the title for a highly renowned hero who, in compensation for their service, receive an extended lifeline. it is INCREDIBLY difficult to become a limious, as a result, because they're not going to extend just anyone's lifelines. so the fact that hilbert had the title and then lost it... bro screwed up big time.

what did he do, you may wonder?

BROSKI LED THE GENOCIDE OF THE DRAGON SPECIES.

but get this, he did all that... knowing the queen of their VOLCANIC kingdom is a goddamn dragon.

broski played with fire, got burned, decided to get offended by getting burned, and thus tried to "even the scales" by attempting (and failing lmao L) an assassination of their dragon queen.

what a dunce.

anyways, the point is, after he failed that assassination, their dragon queen ("Von Doro" is her title / what she's called) ends up going ballistic, snapping, and basically massacres half the population by erupting the volcano in an attempt to try and slaughter hilbert. and that's why Soilaila (the name of the kingdom) hates von doro! turned from a monarchy into a democracy! and revoked hilbert's limious title!

BECAUSE BRO RAN AWAY.

he started that entire mess (a mess they call "the Incident"), and then had the audacity to run like a freakin COWARD.

SNAKE. HEATHEN. COWARD. BARK BARK HILBERT YOU SUCK.

ahem, anyways... the point is, tov starts 16 years after the incident has occurred, when soilaila has transformed from a magical and dragon-filled kingdom to a democratic lands with a magic ban and a lot of issues. when hilbert comes back and everyone decides its on site for this mf, alan (our protagonist) goes "no no no let's not take the law into our own hands and slaughter a little runt by getting blood on our hands. that's a bit feral and messy, don't you think?" except broski says it in a far more pretentious way than I just said it. and after the mob turns on alan instead (accidentally, leave them alone. you can never make me hate that mob. they saw hilbert and decided it was fists first, jail later), he eventually ends up saving hilbert's life and, RATHER THAN TAKE HIM TO THE JERVEES (the democratic leaders of soilaila), INSTEAD BRO MAKES THE WORSE MISTAKE OF HIS LIFE AND DECIDES, "ye know what? i actually dont wanna be an official witness to this crime and have my dad find out i got involved, lemme just take him home instead and have broski get arrested by other devices"

except, sike! we forgot hilbert's a manipulative piece of shit.

tldr, he ends up traumatizing the balls off alan's skin and manipulating him in his moment of weakness/vulnerability/being freshly SCARRED into learning magic from him (illegally) and becoming a limious.

and thus, alan's downfall and path to insanity begins...

OKAY AND THAT'S TOV.

SaI ("Scarlet and Ice", with the #sai on my blog) is volume 2 of tov, following the events of tov after alan discovers a little something something about why hilbert chose him specifically to take as a student when he had the chance, and why hilbert came back to begin with. you get the back-in-time history/lore behind the kingdom pre-incident, and what kind of ruler von doro was, what the dragons were like, and perhaps most importantly, a lOT of lore about alan's parents, who ended up being significant people in von doro's court. more significant than alan realized.

sai has the climax of tov and the mess of alan's unravelling, but slay mwah mwah love that duology.

von doro (i liked her up until i didn't)

cara (underrated as BALLS I LOVE HER)

amara (devious shethan but charming. she's also 8 so her annoyingness checks out)

pietro candreva (only guy with a last name and a dog and bro makes a NAME for himself)

naila the kooky writer (literally batshit crazy sometimes but womp womp she's so endearing)

and the dragons whose names i don't wanna spoil :)

OKAY ONTO THE SPINOFF SERIES

this is a wip, for the most part. i finished the first two books in the series, and i'm currently working on the third. to avoid major spoilers for this, i'll keep it vague, but that's everything under the #lotf series tag on my blog.

anyways, the series has 7 books (oop), but it follows the second gen cast, which are the children of the main cast in tov. elenfa, fawn, and evan are the singer children of alan and caramel (spoiler alert, they get married lmao big shocker there). riyzela and raheer are the ja siblings, children of morreial and cara (these two are canonically a couple IN tov so no surprise there either). and the cast expands with every book.

the biggest thing you need to know about evan's series is nyla.

everyone is scared of nyla.

all my homies and i shiver at the mention of nyla.

nyla... TERRIFIES ME. GENUINELY. I ACC GET THE HEEBIE JEEBIES WHEN I SEE HER NAME IN THE BOOK.

its never a good sign when nyla is in a scene.

okay, brief rundown of each book so far, since i haven't released them yet and therefore have kept public info about them very limited.

CoS is book one, following the childhood of evan and the precipitating events that lead to his lifelong battle with ptsd and all its after effects. its also the debut of nyla and his toxic dependency on her. the biggest, most pivotal arc in cos is the lc arc. YIKES FOREVER.

GotN is the book i just finished. book two, following evan's preteen years and his growing interest in medicine, when he meets a nurse who helps him through a panic attack. he ends up seeking out medicine as a way to heal and heal others. the main two arcs of gotn are the "Evan in the North" arc featuring the plague there, and the "therapy arc" where my boi CANONICALLY GOES TO THERAPY SLAYYYYYYYYY

EoJ is my current wip, and i'll keep this one on the downlow for now. let's just say its such a mess because certain events in life cause my boi to relapse (NOOOOOOOOOOOOO) and return to old habits... and nyla.
