Are their bad guys? Yes. Are their perils? Sure.

But ultimately the Pokémon World is a place where good always conquers over evil. It's a place where families feel safe and encourage their kids to go have adventures with their friends. There is no place for edgy grimdarkness in the Pokémon World!

honestly I can't stand when people go "oh living in the pokemon world would be hell because the pokedex says this and that" when in pokemon media itself people are living fucking fine and for all we know the pokedex could be like 99% bullshit

Look, I know I never seem to shut up about the Let's Go games but I desperately want a Let's Go Johto! game. We don't even need two versions. I have a fix for that!

Imagine:

The original 251 Pokémon that were present in Gen2 (regardless of their original game-to-game availability). No more, no less.

A simple story, advancing the timeline a few years so the player character can meet one of the OG Gen2 protagonists (bonus points if its Kris). We don't need a retread of the original story since HGSS already did such a great job.

Maybe make Celebi more of a focus than Ho-Oh, Lugia, or the legendary beasts. I love the Johto games and want to spend more time there. Surely we can find a new story that still meshes with Johto's underlying themes.

Change up the gym leaders and Elite Four. Maybe change the order or (now that a few Normal types have been retyped to Fairy) make Whitney a Normal/Fairy member of the Johto Elite Four.

Instead of a preset partner pokémon, incorporate a (slightly weighted/rigged) quiz that determines the partner from a select pool. I suggest (in order of common to rare) Marill, Mareep, Teddiursa, Snubbel, Aipom, Phanpy, and Togepi. All of their base states and move pools will be adjusted as needed like with Partner Pikachu and Partner Eevee.

When encountering wild pokémon, players will need to battle them for a few turns before the Let's Go catching mechanic kicks in. The amount of turns can be determined by a timer (and players who don't want to can just wait it out), by some behind-the-scenes calculation (although the catching mechanic is already more difficult for low catch rate pokémon), or simply the needs of the story. I love the catching mechanic, don't get me wrong, I just want more opportunities to battle. At least make a brief battling period an option.

I am indifferent on whether a Kanto post game is even necessary. It's been a traditional part of Gen2 but honestly is it still necessary?

Hey just going to throw this out there:

Now that Gen9 has given us the punching glove, Gen10 should give us items like a shin guard that does the same thing for kicking moves and a beigoma (Japanese battling top, the inspiration for beyblades) that does 5% increases for either.

This gives casual Pokémon players a way to evolve Tyrogue into any of the Hitmons they want without all the grinding and min-maxing.

Sometimes I just want my critter to evolve into another desired critter based on my little story for my character I have running in my head. And doing a bunch of finagling breaks my immersion. I stop thinking of critter as a critter and that makes me sad. Just give us filthy casuals a way out. Keep the tough methods for the real gamers an leave the easy ways out for us casuals.

Saw a video about the Spaceworld 1997 beta Pokémon and I cannot stop thinking about the mysterious boat Pokémon (Sugimori-style art by Rachel Briggs aka raciebeeps):

Okay sure I know there's speculation that this was an unused design for Lugia, but the design is a little... stiff? static? for it to be a box art legendary.

So indulge me, please, and let's pretend this is a single stage Pokémon the player is gifted or forced to catch (similar to the red Gyarados) in order to navigate the Whirl Islands and arrive at Cianwood City, making it thematically comparable to Ash's Lapras. (I'll leave you to debate whether Ash's Lapras would have been known beforehand to the folks at Game Freak).

May I suggest the name Karvice? From "Karvi" a kind of viking longship and "ice". For typing, I'm thinking it could be Water/Ice, Normal/Ice, or just plain Ice.

I recognize that the Dragon/Ice or Ice/Dragon typings are there for the taking, but I feel like Dragon type was (and still is to a degree) rare, and while I think there's an argument to be made for adding another dragon type for Gen II (the only new dragon was Kingdra, a Water/Dragon type), I just don't see it for this Pokémon. When I see this Pokémon I see ice!
